Alright, Deal

Description

It couldn't get anymore cliche than falling for your best friend while pretending to be her girlfriend.

Foreword

Amber's POV

“God, isn’t he dreamy?”

I did not hide the roll of my eyes and turned to acknowledge the dazed girl beside me.

“If you’re asking either me or God, I highly doubt you’d get the answer you have in mind.”

I was used to being ignored when my best friend got like this, so I didn’t take it to heart when she sighed for the 14th time today, still in a dreamlike haze. The sound used to send me into a laughing fit at her obvious fawning over some guy. However, these days it just sends my eyes to the back of my skull.

All because of one transfer.

Kim Jongin, or ‘Kai’ as he likes to be called.

What with his *insert 90’s male heartthrob here* haircut, his broody, vampiric look that only became trendy again after Twilight, and who can forget that ‘y half smirk’ of his that I am so kindly reminded about every time he is in the vicinity.

Of course, I am nothing less than perfectly comfortable with myself and my appearance and never once or a few times had I tried to emulate that smirk or something of the variation.

Please. I don’t need a goddamn smirk to look y.

I suppose I am being a little petty, given the fact that despite his bad body appearance, Kai is actually as nice as everybody claims he is.

Bummer.

It was nothing but amusing at first, when I saw my best friend since diaper days having a little crush on someone for the first time. I’d relentlessly about it, seeing as before this she has never so much as hinted at being interested in another human being.

However, in the last three months since he’s been here, I’ve heard about this Kai’s physical qualities more than I’m capable of digesting. If those little bits of information didn’t make me gayer every time, I honestly don’t know what will.

“You’re mumbling to yourself again. Stop it. You’re beginning to sound like that old hag, Mrs. cats-a-lot, from down our street.” The shorter girl quipped and started stuffing her books into my locker, as if it was her own. Well it might as well be, since basically half of her belongings occupied the compact space.

I nudged her playfully and she stuck out her tongue at me.

“Hey, don’t be making fun of the old lady. She has her reasons for being grumpy, maybe.”

“You only like the crazy woman because she called you cute once and thought you were a k-pop idol. At least you can add her to your list of stupid fangirls,” She said, glancing at me with vague scrutiny, “Personally, I don’t see the appeal.”

“And that,” I poked her nose, “Makes one of you. Kim Jongin may be the new hot kid, but me? I’m the old hot kid. And that… wait hold on I’m going somewhere smart with this,” I said, holding up my hand up as the brunette started laughing at my choice of words.

“Aunty Liu did a great job with Donghae and Kibum. What happened to you, though?” She smirked, absently fixing the crease in my shirt.

I scoffed, playfully pushing her hands away, only for her to bring her hands back to poke my several times in my ribs, “Don’t bring my mother into this.” My frown broke as I giggled through her poking, “I don’t know why you insist on taking her side all the time. Jessica’s her favourite Jung kid, you know.” I laughed harder and almost screamed when she increased the intensity of her poking, full on tickling me now, “AHAH, STOP IT YOU EVIL PRINCESS.”

She stopped the torture when we attracted enough attention, and poked me in the forehead one final time, “You’re just jealous that your mother loves me more.”

I shook my head, stepping forward to wrap her in my arms, “Aw, but nobody loves you more than I do, ddunggie-ah.” I said, resting my chin on her head. She groaned miserably in my hold but wounded her arms around me anyway.

“Insufferable creature. Tell me why do I still keep you around.”

“Because you love me. Teehee.” I swayed on the spot like a five-year old.

Shaking her head, although I could tell there was a smile on her face, she answered, “Don’t know why though.”

“AMBER! KRYSTAL! YOU WOULDN’T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT.”

Speaking of five-year olds.

We turned at the shrill sound and the giant baby that produced it, wondering what in the hell she wanted to tell us that warranted such a deafening entrance.

Words didn’t come first as she barraged into me since I was the nearest to the elephant and I had to catch her in my arms.

I tried to breathe in her suffocating grip.

Krystal patted the still squealing girl on the back, “Alright, calm down Ssul. What happened that you almost had to kill the poor llama over?”

She pulled away from me and I released a large burst of air.

“I’M GETTING MARRIED!”

Only for it to be back into my lungs in a gasp.

A/N : Hello, new author here! So I know the whole best friend thing has been overdone (at least in my opinion) but this little thing is for me to work on this writer's funk that I've been suffering from. I'll try to post twice a week? Maybe? Let's go with maybe. Heh....
