What Not to Write {fanfiction tips}

terms —

Okay, normally I try to write witty titles but for this I came up as a blank. This is AFF for a reason. Most stories on here are Korean stories, well not Korean stories but they ‘star’ Korean artists. I have seen some Japanese stories but they aren’t nearly as popular as the ones that have our kpop idols as their mains. Below is a list of common terms that you’ll see in ‘Korean stories’. If you see a term that isn’t on there and you want me to add it, let me know.

Korean

Rough English Translation

Oppa (used by younger females to older males)

Older brother

Noona (used by younger males to older females)

Older sister

Dongsaeng (used by older male/females to younger male/females)

Younger brother/sister

Goma agashi

Young lady

Saranghae

I love you

Annyeong

Hello

Ne or Deh

Yes

Ani or Aniya

No

Appa

Umma

Mother

This is just a really short chapter just to give basic stuff. If you’re reading a Japanese fic and you want some help with terms I suggest asking someone else. The only Japanese I know is from anime and I’m pretty sure that if I use those translations I’m going to get something wrong. Although I do know one thing: sensei means teacher. Thank you Naruto.

Chapter 4: I wouldn't necessarily say using apostrophes for dialogues is wrong, many books published in the UK prefer this format...
