Prologue - The Decisive
Hopeless TreasureIt’s in the middle of a silent, peaceful night. Not until screams of a middle-aged man breaks the silence.
--
A commotion brings everyone out of their homes. They crowd over as many other men in uniforms tried to prevent them from the scene. The bodyguards in rusty suits that were originally hired to protect their own master started to run out -- but they were too late to protect anything. A person in the crowd got a peek, “Omo, omo! T-that is horrifying!” She let out in an anguished tone. The crowd bursted into noise.
“Everyone, stop! You’re making a big commotion right here out in the middle of the night. We demand that you return back to your homes and rest for the night. We will deal with this situation, there’s nothing here to look at, now, everyone -- go back to your homes! Anyone who tries to push any further will be arrested for obstruction of justice!” The men in the uniforms were police officers. The crowd disperses after that announcement, and night continued on...

The dead body was being examined. It was almost staked into the ground. There were multiple knife incisions, but tree branches were used as a finishing touch and the final weapon, and were ed into the cut flesh and entrances.
“Wow, this is really horrific. This killer must be the same one. A brutal kill.. Again, I’d say,” a girl’s voice interpreted.
“What makes you so sure that it’s the same killer from just two nights ago?” Another voice asked. This time, a man’s.
“Look here, this is a mark left by the killer. This kind of brutal kill continued for about 2 months now. It has to be the same one, it’s the ‘signature’ that they leave on their victims. In the last case, the victim was stabbed down into the ground with multiple branches. This one turned out to be the same.” She sighed, then added, “And we haven’t had any leads to whom the culprit might be.” The woman turned the corpse’s head around, and examined its eyes. “This man was crying. He was alive while he was being killed at the same time.”
