The Holiday Party
Third Time's The CharmHear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me.
Psalm 27:7
“Krys, are you ready for the party?” Jessica shouted from the living room. The response came back a few moments later.
“Almost!”
“You said that ten minutes ago!” retorted the older sister.
Krystal appeared at the doorway of her room. “But I’m actually ready now.”
Jessica gave her sister a once over and put two thumbs up. “You look fantastic,” she complimented.
“You too,” Krystal returned.
Indeed, both Jung sisters looked dazzling in their dresses, personally designed by Jessica. Krystal’s red cocktail dress with a sweetheart neckline, off shoulder sleeves, and lace trim flattered her figure perfectly while Jessica’s pink sleeveless, high low dress with a deep plunge neckline decorated with sparkling diamonds gave her a fairy-like yet semi y aura.
“Let’s go,” Jessica ordered, grabbing her keys and shooing her sister out the door. “We’re late.”
“We’re the hosts. How can we be late?” Krystal laughed.
Despite her laughter, Jessica scolded, “There’s still a set time for the party, so we can still be late. We need to get there early to add the last finishing touches.”
Thankfully, there wasn’t much traffic, and the sisters arrived at the venue with an hour left to, as Jessica stated, “sprinkle everything with a pinch of the classic Jung wow factor.” Whatever that meant.
Because her sister had help from the caterers, waiters, and party planner plus assistants, Krystal called her friends, begging them to come early and save her from boredom.
She thanked her lucky stars when Sulli and Amber (and their boyfriends in tow) arrived ten minutes after she sent out her distress call.
“You’re lucky Minho and I were already on our way when you called,” Sulli informed Krystal.
“Us too,” said Amber. She did a quick sweep of the room and whistled. “Dang, your sister did a great job this year.” As an afterthought, she added, “As always of course.”
Krystal also examined the large ballroom that was already fancy by itself without the round tables covered with deep red tablecloths surrounding trees twinkling with Christmas lights. Platters upon platters of delectable foods covered every inch of the long table at the side of the room, and a large chocolate fountain happily gurgled at one end of the table.
As she viewed the spectacular set up and listened to the live band play a jazzy version of Joy to the World, she had to agree that her sister had outdone herself this year.
“How is she going to top this next year?” Sulli mused aloud.
Wide eyed, Krystal could only shrug.
“So, how are you enjoying the party so far?” Krystal repeated for what felt like the millionth time that hour.
