1 John 3:18
Krystal cleared as she moved away from her hiding spot to where Wendy and Seulgi could properly see her, and they froze, eyes wide open, as if they were caught hatching an evil plan.
“I’m sorry for eavesdropping,” Krystal started a little nervously, “but I couldn’t help myself when I heard what you were talking about.”
Wendy seemed to overcome her shock more quickly than Seulgi who looked horrified at being overheard. “It’s fine,” she said though all three females knew it sort of wasn’t. “We were kind of loud, I guess.” She glanced at her friend. “Uh, we should probably go now-”
“Wait,” Krystal said to stop her. “Could I speak to Seulgi for a moment?”
Wendy looked from Krystal to Seulgi and back to Krystal, torn between insisting on staying and leaving. She finally resigned on the latter. “Okay, um, Seul, I’ll be waiting outside the library.” And then she hurried away quickly.
As soon as Wendy left, Krystal, not wanting to bear through moments of awkwardness, started, “Seulgi, remember that time when we first met in the library a few weeks back?”
She nodded slowly but didn’t say anything. Krystal continued, “Well, I don’t think I made it obvious to you at that time, but I wanted you to know that I’m not mad at you. It’s not your fault Kai fell for you. I mean, in a sense it is because you’re so pretty and talented, but that’s nothing I can stay mad at you for.” She smiled in reassurance.
Seulgi’s eyes shone with surprise and relief. “You’re too nice, Krystal,” she finally said, a smile of her own dancing on her lips.
Krystal remembered how the first time she approached the girl, she had done so with ill intentions, to create doubt in Seulgi’s mind in order to distance her from Kai. Krystal swallowed. “Not really,” she said softly, shaking her head. “Anyway, I want to tell you that the way that Kai looks at you is so much more loving and genuine than he ever looked at me. So don’t be afraid to return his feelings because that kid needs love.”
Ducking her head shyly, Seulgi lightly laughed before looking up to meet Krystal’s eyes, realization dawning in her own eyes. “But you sound like you won’t be upset if Kai and I got together. Have you...moved on from him?” she asked curiously. “Maybe found another guy?”
Krystal had to look away, and that was enough for Seulgi to know the answer. “You did!” she exclaimed excitedly.
“Oh, be quiet,” Krystal said embarrassedly, jokingly glaring at Seulgi. “Everyone will be able to hear you.”
