Revenge?
Third Time's The CharmAnd we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
Despite Krystal’s initial reluctance to celebrate her birthday, she found her day out with her friends and sister to be rather enjoyable, excluding two little incidents, one being when her companions ruthlessly grilled her about Minhyuk because a little birdie by the name of Sulli opened her big mouth. But that was only a small blotch on the nice weekend, and Krystal was willing to overlook it.
But there was another incident- and a much larger blotch- that Krystal could not overlook no matter how hard she tried. She just couldn’t get the image of Kai kissing and running after Seulgi out of her mind. Every time she thought of it- and it’d come up more often than she’d like- Krystal felt disgusted, squeamish, and nauseous. She felt as if Kai should suffer as much as she was from their break up, not moving on so quickly.
The first time that thought arose, the girl had immediately shook her head and berated herself for wishing ill onto her ex-boyfriend. But not a moment passed before a voice in her head argued that she had all the right to wish such a thing. Or did she?
During the entire weekend, a conflict raged in her mind: did she really want small revenge on Kai? On one hand, she would very much like him to suffer a bit, maybe learn a lesson for breaking countless hearts. On the other hand, she didn’t want to seem like that clingy, mean ex-girlfriend from the dramas. She was way better than that.
Sunday night, right as she was about to sleep, Krystal told herself that she wasn’t going to do anything. She was going to be mature and let Kai live his own life. Monday morning, right after she woke up and was about to go to school, she reminded herself of her resolve. But a little later on that same Monday morning, right when she saw Seulgi and Kai together, her resolve broke a little. And as the day went by, as she saw them more often, it broke even more and more until she could feel her jealousy eating her up from the inside.
“Krystal? Hey, you listening to me?” Sulli inquired, waving her hand in front of the girl’s face, thus breaking her eye contact from the rather revolting sight of Kai trying to feed a Seulgi who was refusing the food.
“Huh?” Krystal forced her gaze away from the scene that was occurring a few tables away and looked at her frowning friend. “Sorry, what were you saying?”
Sulli sighed. “What were you even looking at so fiercely to not be paying attention?” Krystal didn’t have enough time to respond nor react before Sulli turned around to see what she had been focusing on.
Krystal heard her friend scoff before she turned around to give the former a disapproving look. “You really need to stop watching them. You’ll only get more hurt,” Sulli lectured.
Rolling her eyes, Krystal said sullenly, “You think I don’t know that? I don’t watch them because I want to; it’s just...I don’t know, I guess my eyes are naturally drawn to them.”
Sulli didn’t say anything and only pursed her lips together. Her eyes drifted to the objects in Krystal’s right fist and widened when seeing how tightly the girl was gripping them.
“Krystal, your chopsti
