As hurtful and shocking as Sulli’s words were, Krystal couldn’t be mad at her friend for saying them because they helped her realize a lot about herself. Still, her pride was still bruised pretty badly. As a result, Krystal ended up still being mad, but at herself. For not realizing such obvious things in the first place.
“Why did I even date that jerk?” she muttered to herself as she aimlessly walked around campus, kicking up fallen leaves of gold, red, and brown.
"Because when he smiled at me, did nice things for me, or said sweet things, butterflies flew around in my stomach, and I felt like he was sincere."
She heard her own voice say those very reasons, and although she couldn’t remember the situation or the person she was talking to, she remembered saying it. Snorting at her own stupidity, she sat down on a nearby bench.
“And have you noticed you haven’t cried over your break up yet?”
Now it was Sulli’s voice resonating in her head. Krystal wished to protest that she had in fact cried, but couldn’t remember if she actually had. Not until she recalled a tear trickling down her face in a small music shop as she pitifully asked, “What did I do wrong? What does she have that I don’t? Why do these things happen to me?”
With a little bitterness, Krystal realized she had in fact cried. But was that really over her break up, or over the fact that Seulgi took someone who was once hers, causing her to be a bit insecure?
“If I remember correctly, you were always the heartbreaker in high school, so it didn’t feel so good experiencing it yourself, did it?”
Krystal silently cursed Sulli in her mind and told the Sulli in the memory to shut up. Burying her head in her hands and closing her eyes, her mind was a battlefield. She was torn between if she truly ‘loved’ Kai or not.
“I-I don’t know. I guess love is too strong of a word to use.”
She believed love was too powerful of a word to just throw around carelessly, so she couldn’t say she loved her ex-boyfriend. But in the words of Sulli, did Krystal truly care for her boyfriend? For who he was?

Krystal’s head rose from her hands when her mind finally spoke the truth. If she had to face the music, she’d admit that she didn’t date Kai because she liked him all that much.
