As he hummed happily, he couldn’t help but admire the two little goldfish currently swimming inside of the circular fish bowl he had purchased the day of the fall festival. He had gotten all of the supplies necessary to care for the little fishies and now he could just sit here all day and admire them. Young Jae really was grateful that Daehyun had been able to win these fishes for him and he wished that he could repay the favor, but… how was he supposed to do that?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A month. A little over a month had passed since Young Jae had decided to get Dehyun’s phone number and yet, Young Jae couldn’t bring himself to ask Daehyun for his phone number. They were friends after all and yet, he couldn’t draw up the courage to do such a thing. Heck, the only reason he even had Himchan’s phone number was because Himchan gave it to him without any hesitation. Daehyun, however, didn’t seem to do such a thing. In fact, just recently, he had realized that he had not once seen Daehyun with his phone out. So, it led one to wonder…

Did Daehyun even have a cell phone?

A house phone number would be fine, right? Sure, he wouldn’t be able to text or send pictures to Daehyun, but at least he would be able to call him. Sure, he wouldn’t know what to say and it would most likely be filled with awkward silences, but it would be nice just to have the option to talk to Daehyun whenever he wanted to. Well, almost whenever he wanted to, but it was still better than nothing.

Today was Friday, a week after the fall festival, and he needed to get Daehyun’s phone number. Since it was the weekend, Young Jae wanted to hang out in some sort of way with him. They hadn’t really spent much time together outside of school and, well, Young Jae wanted to take this opportunity to do so. It would be a good opportunity to get Daehyun’s phone number that way, right?

As he sat there at his usual corner, Young Jae nervously tapped his fingers on the table as he kept a lookout for Daehyun. How was he going to ask him? Would it be alright for him to just flat out ask Daehyun for his phone number or would it be better to just ask him about hanging out first before asking for his number? The second one seemed like a better idea and having this idea in his head seemed to have some sort of confidence boost within in.

Looking down, he smiled a bit as he looked at the two different sets of lunches that he had set on the table. Sure, they held the same food, but the shapes were different. While he went with the usual and plain look for his own boxed lunch, Young Jae had gone through the trouble to create interesting shapes for Daehyun’s lunch. Yes, it was unnecessary, considering the fact that it was going to be eaten and ruined anyway, but he wanted it to look nicer than usual.

“Hey.” (DH) Young Jae instantly looked up as a bright, yet embarrassed, smile came up onto his face. Daehyun chuckled a bit as he sat down, taking his backpack off and setting it onto the ground as he looked at Young Jae. “Why are you so happy today? Something interesting happen?” (DH)

“I-I… um…” (YJ) Young Jae turned a deep shade of red as he tried to sort out the right words to say. Would it be okay if he asked Daehyun? It wouldn’t be awkward or anything, right? “Um… Can we… um…” (YJ)

“Can I start eating? This looks great!” (DH) Young Jae looked up as he saw Daehyun’s full attention on the food that had been prepared for him. He hadn’t been listening this entire time?! It brought a brief sense of disappointment, but from what he’s learned with his short month with Daehyun, he’s learned that Daehyun was quite a lover of food. “Is something wrong?” (DH)

Young Jae instantly sat up straight as his eyes widened. He quickly shook his head in an attempt to convince Daehyun that everything was alright, which luckily, seemed to work. Letting out a small sigh, Young Jae then nodded as he looked at Daehyun’s food. “You can eat if you want…” (YJ)

“Great! Thanks!” (DH) Daehyun picked up his chopsticks as he hungrily stared at the food in front of him. Before he dug in though, he paused as he glanced back up at Young Jae. He could see a disappointed look on Young Jae’s face and Daehyun felt bad for not listening to Young Jae when he was talking, but now that he had the okay to eat, he could now listen to what Young Jae had to say. “So, what did you wanna say?” (DH)

“W-What?” (YJ) Daehyun quietly chuckled to himself as he saw Young Jae sit up in his seat yet again. What was on Young Jae’s mind that seemed to make him react like that? He was definitely a lot more interesting than most other people here and he was rather glad that he had decided to give Young Jae some company.

“You were saying something earlier. What did you have to say?” (DH) As Daehyun began eating, Young Jae’s face and ears began to heat up once more as his heart began racing. He didn’t want to go through with it anymore, but at the same time, he knew that he wouldn’t get anywhere if he didn’t. What was he supposed to do though?

“I, um… I-I… the, uh… It’s the weekend!” (YJ) Daehyun gave a small chuckle as he nodded.

“Yeah, I know. What about it?” (DH) Young Jae looked back down as he began to fiddle with the hem of his blazer. He really didn’t know if it was a good idea, but it was already too late to back out now. There was no reason for him to be like this though, but he couldn’t help it. Young Jae was always second-guessing himself and he hated himself for it, but again, he couldn’t help it. That’s just how he usually was.

“U-Um…. Would you… um… like to… I-I mean… just us two… to um… do stuff… together?” (YJ) Daehyun raised a single brow as he stared at Young Jae for a moment. What did he mean by doing stuff together with just the two of them? Why was it so difficult for Young Jae to say what was on his mind? It shouldn’t be that difficult and sadly, he was going to have to question Young Jae a bit further to see what he meant.

“What kind of stuff did you want to do with just the two of us?” (DH) Young Jae bit his bottom lip as he kept his head tilted downwards. His head was throbbing now with how much blood seemed to be flowing through him, but he continued to try and keep himself calm. Yes, he’s been far more nervous than this, so he felt like he could keep going with his intentions.

“I-I… I don’t really know… I just, um… I wanted to hang out… with… you…” (YJ) As Young Jae spoke, his voice seemed to grow quieter with each word spoken. If it wasn’t for the fact that they were currently in a library, then Daehyun probably wouldn’t have been able to hear what Young Jae was saying. With a small chuckle, Daehyun leaned forward as he set his elbows on the table.

“Oh? With just me? Do you have feelings for me or something?” (DH) Young Jae instantly looked up at Daehyun with wide eyes. Despite the fact that his cheeks were an obvious red and his ears were betraying him, Young Jae feverishly shook his head as he looked back down.

“I-I-I…” (YJ)

“Relax! I’m just kidding.” (DH) Daehyun had been lightly laughing as he said that. He hadn’t expected to produce a rather… well, funny reaction from Young Jae. Either Young Jae was a very awkward person or he really did have feelings for him, but either way, Daehyun liked the other teen. “Sure. I’ll hang out with you. How about we hang out at your apartment today?” (DH)

Young Jae’s eyes practically sparkled with relief and excitement as he gave a small nod. His smiling seemed to be uncontainable as he smiled with little to no self-restraint. Daehyun gave yet another small laugh as he found himself being affected by Young Jae’s giddiness. “Are you really that excited to hang out with me?” (DH)

He tried to gather the right words to say as Young Jae looked off to the side. What was he supposed to say without sounding weird? He could always tell the truth, but Young Jae didn’t want to sound creepy to Daehyun. “M-Mhm… I-I’m really excited. I want to get to know you better…” (YJ)

Did he really? Was he really interesting enough for Young Jae to want to get to know him? Well, maybe it wouldn’t be all that boring as long as Young Jae remained excited about it. After all, there wasn’t really anything interesting about him to learn about anyway. “Well, if you’re sure. Do you have video games at your place? And will there be food?” (DH)

“Um… Yeah! I have some video games and, um… I can cook us food when we’re hungry.” (YJ) Well, he was almost certain that his grandmother would cook for them, but at least there would be food, right? Though, now that he thought about it, would his grandmother be alright with him having a friend over today? He had asked his grandmother if he could go out with a friend tomorrow, but he hadn’t asked about anything for today.

“So I’ll just go with you to your home right after school. I’ll meet you by your locker?” (DH) Young Jae nodded sheepishly as he finally picked up his chopsticks. Well, maybe things would turn out alright. It didn’t hurt to hope for such an outcome, right?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

His heart was beating with nervousness as he leaned against the wall by the front entrance. Young Jae hoped that Daehyun showed up soon. Of course, he did have to try and come up with other things that they could do while they were at his grandmother’s apartment. Besides video games, there had to be something else that could be interesting to do for two people, but what?

“Hey. Were you waiting long?” (DH) Young Jae instantly looked up as he smiled a bit. He gave a small shake of his head in response to Daehyun’s question before he pushed himself off of the wall. He was really relieved that Daehyun really did end up showing up. Maybe things really would end up going well after all. “Lead the way.” (DH)

With a nod of his head, Young Jae soon began walking towards their intended destination with Daehyun following close by. Young Jae slowed his pace just enough so that Daehyun was walking next to him instead of just close behind. Looking at Daehyun, he accidentally made eye contact with him, causing him to quickly look away with an embarrassed smile on his face. Daehyun couldn’t help but chuckle a bit, slightly amused by Young Jae’s actions. “Why do you act like that?” (DH)

The smile on his face faded as he looked at Daehyun once more, confusion and curiosity taking its place as he tried to figure out what he meant. When he couldn’t figure out what Daehyun’s question meant, Young Jae decided to voice his confusion. “Um… What do you mean?” (YJ)

“Whenever we make eye contact, you smile and look away. I mean, I don’t mind it or anything, but you’re probably the first person I’ve met that does that.” (DH) Young Jae turned red once more as he did just as Daehyun had said; he looked away and gave that embarrassed smile of his. Daehyun gave a brief laugh as he put his arm around Young Jae before rubbing his arm a bit. “See? Like that! What. Are you embarrassed or something?” (DH)

“N-No… I-I, um…” (YJ)

“Then lighten up! No need to be so tense, right?” (DH) Despite the nod that Young Jae gave, Young Jae honestly didn’t know why he did what he did. It was just something that… well, happened. He didn’t really have much control over it, so it wasn’t really his fault whenever it did happen. “Hey. I think I know what you need.” (DH)

Young Jae looked up at Daehyun, whom had a rather suspicious grin on his face as he looked forward. Turning his head to where Daehyun was staring, Young Jae attempted to find what Daehyun was looking at. Sadly, he couldn’t see anything or anyone except a pair of girls currently walking ahead of them. “Um… What do you think I need?” (YJ)

“A girlfriend! What else?” (DH) Young Jae’s face reddened once again at the thought of obtaining one. Why did Daehyun think that he needed a girlfriend?! The thought hadn’t once crossed his mind and, well, he wasn’t really certain if he even wanted one at this moment. “You don’t want one? Maybe a boyfriend, then?” (DH)

Young Jae’s instantly turned to look at Daehyun as his eyes widened once more. He quickly shook his head before putting his hands up in a sort of defensive manner. “N-No! I-I don’t want one!” (YJ)

“Woah! Why so defensive? I was just kidding.” (DH) Daehyun rubbed Young Jae’s arm once more in an attempt to assure him before he pulled his arm away from Young Jae. Letting out a relieved sigh, Young Jae looked away as he tried to rethink his actions. Why was it that he had been so defensive about it? Maybe it was just because it was the first time someone asked him if he had wanted a boyfriend. That had to be it, right? “Hey, your grandma will be home, right? What’s she like? Is she like those grandma’s in the drama’s that are really crazy and try to manipulate people into doing things that they want for their own benefit?” (DH)

“N-No… I-I mean… I don’t think she is… She’s really nice to me and I don’t think she’ll try to make you do anything you don’t want to do.” (YJ) Daehyun slowly nodded as he hummed a bit. He wasn’t all that convinced, but Young Jae has yet to lie about anything, so he didn’t really have any reason not to believe him. Then again, the only way to see if Young Jae was telling the truth or not was by actually meeting his grandmother face-to-face. In a way, he was kind of excited to catch Young Jae lying. Why? Well, that meant that Young Jae was capable of such a thing!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Grandma Yoo! Are you home?” (DH) Young Jae’s mouth hung agape as he stared at Daehyun in disbelief. Was Daehyun really calling for his grandmother this way?! Even if his grandmother was a nice person, that didn’t mean that manners weren’t still important. The second Daehyun had completely taken off his shoes, he made a beeline towards the kitchen, where a sort of gasp escaped. “Grandma Yoo! Wow, look at you! You look so young and pretty.” (DH)

Young Jae’s face instantly went pale as he quickly threw his shoes off and ran towards the kitchen. Entering the kitchen with widened eyes, he could only stare at the two in disbelief as he heard his grandmother giving off a delicate laugh. Was she actually… happy? “Oh my. You’re going to make me blush. Young Jae dear, who is this friend of yours?” (GY)

“U-Um…” (YJ) Young Jae quickly closed his mouth as he rubbed the back of his head. What was he supposed to say? No, wait. He already knew what he was supposed to say. He just didn’t exactly know how to react to a situation like this. It was rather… well, unusual. Why? Because he usually only had one friend over and that one friend was Himchan and, well… his grandmother wasn’t exactly fond of Himchan, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t like him. “Um… He’s my new friend. His name is Daehyun.” (YJ)

“Aish… Don’t be so bashful! We’ve been friends for over a month already! He’s a good kid, but he’s so shy.” (DH) Young Jae let out a small whine as he tried to conceal his embarrassment. They were talking about him despite the fact that he was standing right in front of them, but he knew that he didn’t necessarily have the ability to stop them. It also didn’t help that his grandmother let out a light laugh in response to Daehyun’s words.

“Oh my, yes. My cute little grandson has always been like this. I hope that you can teach him well then.” (GY)

“Grandmaaaa…” (YJ) Young Jae whined once more as he tried very hard not to pout. However, the pout only seemed to naturally show up on his face as he puffed out his cheeks and folded his arms. Daehyun let out a light laugh as he made his way over to Young Jae and wrapped an arm around his shoulders.

“Ah, lighten up! I’ll help you out as best I can, yeah?” (DH) Grandma Yoo let out yet another light laugh as she went back to her cooking. Young Jae slipped out from Daehyun’s grasp before quietly making his way over to where his grandmother was. Looking over her shoulder, his eyes landed on the oven that was currently emitting heat. Young Jae inhaled the scents in one large whiff before smiling happily.

“Wow! You’re making cinnamon rolls?” (YJ)

“My, yes. Your favorite, right? Your friend will love it. It will be done in half an hour, so go play, alright?” (GY) Grandma Yoo turned around and gave Young Jae’s cheek a few light taps before turning back to her cooking. Young Jae happily shuffled over to Daehyun before taking a hold of his wrist and pulling him into the living room. Once there, Young Jae released his hold on Daehyun before making his way to the television. Sitting on his heels, Young Jae tilted his head a bit as he looked at the video games that he currently had.

“What kind of games do you like to play?” (YJ) Young Jae pulled out each one of his video games, setting them down side by side in order to get a better view of his current collection. When he didn’t hear Daehyun give him an answer, Young Jae turned around to see Daehyun currently sitting on the couch while looking around. “Daehyun?” (YJ)

“Hm?” (DH) Daehyun turned his head to look at Young Jae. The two stared at one another before Young Jae pointed at the games that had been neatly placed out in front of him. Sitting forward, Daehyun smiled a bit as he glanced at the video games. For whatever reason, he hadn’t expected them to be playing video games, but he was clearly wrong. “How about you pick a two player game and I’ll just play. How does that sound?” (DH)

“Does it… matter what game we play?” (YJ) Daehyun merely held his smile as he shook his head and leaned back in his seat. Instantly, Young Jae’s eyes lit up as he quickly looked back down at the lined up games and grabbed the one that had grabbed his attention. Just Young Jae’s actions alone were enough to catch Daehyun’s attention as a single brow rose in curiosity. What kind of game would make Young Jae act like that? “You’re second player, okay?” (YJ)

“What game are we playing?” (DH) Young Jae quickly shushed Daehyun as he hastily stumbled to his feet and ran over to the couch. After practically falling onto the couch, Young Jae quickly placed a controller on Daehyun’s lap before leaning back in his seat and putting his feet up on the couch. With a happy grin, Young Jae happily waited for the credits to pass through before the actual game finally decided to show up.

The opening started up and yet, Daehyun still had no clue what this game was. At least during the opening, he learned that it was a fighting game, though he hadn’t actually tried those before. Still, that didn’t really matter. Just got to go in and try his best. Hopefully, Young Jae would go easy on him. If not, then… well, Daehyun would have to step up his game.

Once the opening cinematic was over, Young Jae scrolled through the given options before putting it on versus. Young Jae hadn’t thought about the possibility of letting Daehyun practice before their match, but that may just be because he was overly excited over finally playing one of his favorite video games with a friend. Himchan wasn’t really one for fighting games and, well… he didn’t generally have many other friends to begin with. So, this was an entirely new experience for him to finally play with someone next to him… that wasn’t his grandmother.

“Wow… I can see why you like playing this game. Look at all these pretty girls!” (DH) Young Jae looked partially to the right side of the screen to see Daehyun skimming past the male characters while pausing at every girl that he came across. He blinked a few times before a faint tint of red graced his cheeks.

“You’re a ert…” (YJ) Young Jae leaned a little away from Daehyun as he pouted a bit. Daehyun had an amused smirk on his face as he looked at Young Jae. Did talking about girls bother Young Jae that much? Well, maybe a little more teasing wouldn’t hurt. After all, if he was going to help Young Jae out of his shell, he might as well help Young Jae loosen up a bit.

“Oh really now? You can’t tell me that you don’t stare at these women all day while playing, right? I mean, you even picked a female character to play! She’s pretty cute and seems like your type.” (DH) Daehyun playfully nudged Young Jae’s arm, a sort of suggestive smirk on his face as he tried to get Young Jae to go along with what he was saying. Sadly, all Young Jae did was turn a deeper shade of red and furiously shake his head before looking away. “Ah… I’m just kidding with you, Young Jae. Lighten up a bit!” (DH)

Daehyun gave Young Jae’s shoulder a firm squeeze before picking one of the characters that had grabbed his attention. Well, hopefully this game turned out to be fun and he did hope to beat Young Jae at it sooner or later. Then again, with how excited Young Jae had been when he chose this game, Daehyun was fairly certain that it would be difficult to beat Young Jae.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Why are you so good?! Did you play this before?!” (YJ) Young Jae whined as he leaned back in his seat with his cheeks slightly puffed out. After about four rounds, Daehyun had seemed to suddenly become better at this game since now, Young Jae found it difficult to even beat Daehyun once. He had hoped to beat Daehyun as much as possible, but it looked like his plans had come to an end.

“It’s my first time playing, but it’s pretty fun! Come on, don’t be such a sore loser. It’s just a game, right?” (DH) Despite his attempt at trying to console Young Jae, Daehyun had quite a satisfied smile on his face as he leaned against Young Jae. Young Jae whined a little more as he folded his arms. He didn’t mean to be a sore loser, but it’s not like he has had much experience with losing to other people. Sometimes he played online, but that was basically it. “Hey. Since I’ve won so much, will you give me a reward?” (DH)

“Reward…?” (YJ) Young Jae slowly turned his head towards Daehyun, whom still held that satisfied smile on his face. Young Jae didn’t necessarily like the idea of giving Daehyun a reward, but since he did win, then maybe it wouldn’t hurt. “It… depends on what you want…?” (YJ)

“Hm… You have to… do whatever I say for an entire week.” (DH) Young Jae’s eyes widened as he stared at Daehyun with surprise. Why did Daehyun want him to do something like that?! That was just… well, it didn’t sound all that great for him. Young Jae didn’t want to do it, but… he wasn’t certain if anything else he suggested ended up being worse.

“U-Um… O-Okay…” (YJ)

“Great! Then you’ll let me stay here for a week, right?” (DH) Young Jae’s eyes widened yet again, causing Daehyun to burst into laughter. Young Jae couldn’t tell if Daehyun was joking or not. The request was a big one, considering the fact that it involved having to ask his grandmother for permission. Sure, his grandmother was a nice woman, but he was fairly certain that his grandmother wouldn’t allow it. After all, she just met him! Maybe if she knew him a little more, then maybe she would allow it, but otherwise… it was difficult.

“I-I don’t think that you ca-” (YJ)

“You have to do whatever I say for a week and I want you to let me stay here for a week. It’ll do ya some good! Now… Think I can borrow some clothes while I stay here? Ah… Never mind! I have clothes.” (DH) Young Jae couldn’t even get a single word out as Daehyun suddenly got up at the sound of the oven in the kitchen closing. “Grandma Yoo! Is it alright if I stay here for about a week?” (DH)

Young Jae’s mouth hung agape as he watched Daehyun making his way towards the kitchen. Was he really going to be that blunt and ask his grandmother something like that?! It wasn’t a good idea and he was certain that his grandmother would find him impolite. He just couldn’t bring himself to following after Daehyun. Why? Well, the damage had already been done and all he could do now was wait and see what the response would be.

Leaning back in his seat, Young Jae quickly covered his ears, shut his eyes, and began humming quietly to himself. This was his way of coping with an uncomfortable situation. Usually it worked, but this situation was different than trying to drown out everyone else around him.

He sat there in that same position for five, maybe even ten minutes and yet, there was still no sort of news about what the decision was on the matter. Slowly, Young Jae pulled his hands away from his ears as he tried to listen to his surroundings. Besides the music coming from the game, there didn’t seem to be any sort of conversation currently going on. Did something bad happen?

Before he even had a chance to turn towards the kitchen, a sudden gentle breeze tickled his ear, causing Young Jae to shiver as wrapped his arms around himself. Where had that come from? If he recalled, the air conditioning should have been off, so there shouldn’t be any sort of breezes coming into the room at the moment. It wasn’t even a warm breeze from the heater, so where could it have-

Yet again, another gentle breeze blew against his ear, though it was the other one this time. Young Jae shivered once more, though it felt oddly nice for some reason. However, once he heard snickering from behind him, Young Jae quickly turned around. The instant his eyes landed on Daehyun, the male burst into laughter as he took a few steps back to most likely avoid getting hit by Young Jae. Though, Young Jae had more of a surprised and embarrassed look on his face as opposed to an angry one. “W-W-What are you doing?!” (YJ)

Due to Daehyun’s laughter, whatever it was he was saying only ended up turning into some sort of incoherent mess. After he finally calmed down, Daehyun hopped over the couch and plopped right next to Young Jae as he took hold of the controller that he had tossed off to the side a few minutes ago. “Just playing around! Don’t think about it too much, yeah?” (DH)

“That’s not very nice…” (YJ) Young Jae frowned as he folded his arms and leaned back in his seat. It wasn’t really that big of a deal, but Young Jae was more or less embarrassed that he had found Daehyun blowing into his ear rather… nice feeling. Was that a good or a bad thing? No. For now, he would just dismiss it and pretend like nothing happened. Daehyun did say that he was just playing around, so why bother make it a big deal?

“Hey! I gotta go pack. You don’t mind if I’m gone for like an hour or so, right?” (DH) Young Jae looked at Daehyun and blinked a few times before shaking his head. Daehyun grinned as he got to his feet before tossing the controller back onto the couch. “Alright! Awesome! I’ll be back. You don’t mind if I share your bed with you, right? Your grandma said it was alright! Okay, see you in an hour!” (DH)

Daehyun flashed those pearly whites of his while giving two thumbs up before he walked off towards the front door. Young Jae blinked a few times, his mind completely blank for whatever reason as he watched Daehyun put on his shoes and walk out the door. It wasn’t until after the door closed was when realization finally hit him.

“W-What do you mean by share my bed with me?!” (YJ)
