Chapter 12: Different
Perks Of Being Cupid's Daughter [TO BE RE-WRITTEN]
The class bell rung and Aejin couldn’t help but heave a sigh. She had only sat back down on her seat a few minutes ago and now class has ended.
Aejin has just gotten back from the music room where she had spent almost an hour just chatting with Chanyeol and his friends. It was only fifteen minutes before class ended when Aejin noticed the time. She was certain that her music teacher would definitely scold her for spending almost the whole class hour just to deliver a set of instruments, but to her relief, Kyungsoo had volunteered to go with her to her classroom and he explained to the teacher that it was their fault that Aejin had came back to class late – though it was really their fault for continuously asking Aejin so many questions. The teacher didn’t show a bit of doubt – probably since Kyungsoo was the one who was talking to him. And with that, Aejin took a quick note to thank Kyungsoo in the future for bailing her out a probable detention.
“Aejin! Let’s go! Go! I’m hungry!” Yunha whined as she jumped to where Aejin was. Aejin just looked at her friend weirdly and started fixing her bag.
“By the way, why did you take so long bringing those instruments to the music room?” Yunha asked, not noticing the look her friend gave her, “It wouldn’t take more than ten minutes just to bring those there, wouldn’t it? “ she continued.
“No, it really wouldn’t. I just got busy talking to the band.” Aejin answered, truthfully.
“Band? You mean, the school band? Chanyeol’s band?” Yunha asked, her eyes widening, in realization, which Aejin just nodded to, “So, you’re already getting to know his friends?” she teased and earned a glare from Aejin which she just chuckled to.
Yunha couldn’t help it. Out of the three of them, only Aejin hasn’t dated yet. Even Jaeyoon had a boyfriend in the past. Yunha knew how it felt to be in love and adored the wonders of it. She wanted her friend to experience the same happiness she had when she was in love.
“You should probably go first. I have to stop by my locker to get my archery equipment.” She quickly changed the subject and walked out of the classroom before her friend could ask more questions. Yunha was too curious at times and it led the conversion longer than necessary.
True to her word, Aejin went straight to her locker, but instead of taking her usual archery equipment, she grabbed a rather special bow and arrow. She had already tried giving both Leo and Ellin a love potion, but it didn’t work for either of them. Aejin had to make a stronger shot in making the two fall in love. A love arrow.
Usually, cupids wouldn’t use a love arrow at a couple who has yet to be acquainted, but in Ellin and Leo’s case, Aejin had no choice. All of her potions were being countered; nothing was progressing in the couple’s relationship.
Aejin walked towards an unpopular cafeteria entrance, one where not many students use. There were three entrances to the cafeteria; one at the field, another near the classrooms and the last being near the offices. Since the faculty members rarely went out of their offices, it was safe for her to shoot an arrow there.
It wasn’t the first time Aejin had shot an arrow from there. She had done it quite frequently when she had missions that included her schoolmates. Every try went smoothly except for the one where Coach Oh had caught her. He was going back and forth to the cafeteria – stuffing his face with the dessert from the cafeteria - and caught Aejin when she was about to send an arrow flying to her schoolmates’ .
Aejin looked around the cafeteria and looked for a specific male; Leo. When she found who she was looking for, she quickly hid behind the wall where no one would be able to see her and crouched down. She grabbed an arrow from her quiver and positioned it with her bow. Aejin took a deep breath before she raised her bow up and aligned the tip of the arrow with her lips. She focused on Leo and targeted the arrow to where he was sitting. Aejin cleared her mind before slowly letting out her breath and letting go of the arrow.
The arrow flew across the cafeteria to where Leo was and precisely hit his back. Leo flinched, somehow feeling something struck him and Aejin smirked as she watched the arrow quickly disappeared into thin air. Leo glanced behind him as if to look if something had touched him, but resumed eating his food seeing nothing.
Aejin stood up from her spot and wrapped both her bow and quiver on her shoulder before casually walking inside the cafeteria as if nothing happened. She coolly walked where her friends was and quickly sat down beside them.
“Where have you been?” Jaeyoon asked her, as if she had been waiting for her friend for hours – which definitely wasn’t the case.
“I took a stop at my locker to get a few things.” Aejin said, with a big smile, happy that she succeeded in hitting Leo with an arrow. She showed her friend her bow and arrow, as proof to her words, before setting it on the floor beneath her. Though she was quite happy, Aejin couldn’t help but feel suspicious. It was normal for Jaeyoon to ask about Aejin’s whereabouts, but something was different. Jaeyoon seemed impatient; She seemed agitated.
“So –“ Yunha had started to speak but was abruptly cut by Jaeyoon.
“And where are you going to use that?” Jaeyoon scoffed, finding eveything in front of her implausible.
"What does that have anything to do with you?" Aejin spat back, starting to feel anger. She wouldn't mind if Jaeyoon asked her those questions, but Jaeyoon's tone felt different. It felt too demanding and threatening.
Suddenly, Jaeyoon's head turned away from Aejin and she quickly stood up from her seat.
"I need to go to the bathroom." Jaeyoon excused herself and quickly walked away from her friends, out of the cafeteria. Aejin turned her gaze to where Jaeyoon was looking and spotted Leo looking at Ellin. A sudden rush of emotions went through Aejin, finally seeing progress between Ellin and Leo.
Aejin quickly whipped her head back to face Yunha, suddenly realizing Jaeyoon's actions. Jaeyoon was definitely acting suspicious, and she needed to know why.
"I need to go to the bathroom, too." Aejin followed as she swiftly stood up from her seat and walked out of the cafeteria. She quickly walked towards the nearest bathroom and looked for Jaeyoon. To Aejin's disappointment, Jaeyoon was nowhere to be found.
Aejin walked away from the bathroom and entered another one, only to find no trace of her friend, once again. Aejin started to walk towards another bathroom and halted to a stop when she passed an abandoned classroom. Her instincts kicked in and she absentmindedly turned the knob of the classroom door only to be greeted by a student's back.
