Of Serious Talks and Reunions
The Price of LoveJackson had arrived at the Tuan's, with Jinyoung. His best friend insisted that they should go, because the other had this eerie feeling about the JB person. He didn't want to be too paranoid, but his best friend did have a point.
It was Jinyoung who knocked at the front door, but to their surprise, it was Mr. Tuan himself who answered it.
"Oh, hello boys."
"Hello, sir." They politely greeted. "Please, come in." They followed the man inside and settled at the living room.
"We bought these for you, sir." He placed the plastic bag filled with different kinds of fruits on the wooden coffee table.
"Thank you" Mr. Tuan smiled at them. "I'm assuming you guys are here for Mark?"
"Well, that and we wanted to visit you, Mr. Tuan." Jinyoung warmly said. His best friend had his way with using the right words.
"Mark isn't here, actually. But, I think he'll be home soon. So, just wait for him." Well, this felt a little awkward, at least for Jackson, it was.
"So, how are you, sir?" He asked.
"I feel a lot better. I hate hospitals. They make me feel weaker. Thanks for asking." The man seemed to have a question in mind. "I want to ask you boys something." Both Jackson and Jinyoung braced themseleves, because they both had a feeling to what the question was. "What are your intentions with my son?"
They exchanged glances. Mr. Tuan's words were hanging in the air, because all they could think about was the question given to them. It seemed that Mark's Father had an early feeling of what they wanted with his son.
Wasn't this bound to happen anyway? Mr. Tuan would eventually know of this. In a way, this was good. They should come clean and be clear with their intentions.
"We like your son, sir." Jackson spoke up first. Either way, Jinyoung was going to say the same thing anyway.
"We plan on courting him, sir." His best friend added.
Mr. Tuan fell silent. Jackson tried to read the man's expression, but it was a bit hard. Because of the indifference in the person's expression.
Mr. Tuan was carefully judging them, trying to find any signs of hesitation of some sorts. At least the man wasn't frowning, and that was a good sign.
He exchanged glances with Jinyoung again, and it seemed that his best friend was nervous like him. Who wouldn't be? They were talking to the Father of the person they liked.
A lot of things were playing in his mind right now. Silence could mean an affirmative. It could also mean a lack of interest and even irritation. He wasn't sure if Mr. Tuan was angry or what. They had to keep calm.
If Mr. Tuan disliked one of them, or both of them for that matter, would that stop them? Would that stop Jackson from pursing Mark? Of course, they had to respect the Father's decision. He didn't even want to think about that anymore. He needed to be positive.
"Okay" Mr. Tuan finally broke the ice. "Before anything else, let me tell you that Mark is very precious to us. He isn't the type of person to be very vocal about his feelings. He's like a girl."
That caught both of them off guard, because they failed not to chuckle. And that was okay, because even the person who said it couldn't help but smile.
That relieved some heavy tension. The room felt a little lighter now.
"As far as I remember, my son hasn't experienced love yet. Bottom line, respect his decision, whatever it would be. And don't force anything on him."
Mr. Tuan was being a Father right now. It was expected, Mark was their only son.
This was actually a wrong time to feel envious, but he wished that he still had a Dad like Mr. Tuan. He wasn't taking an
