The Cause and its Effect
The Price of LoveJackson was supposed to pick him up, but he called Mark earlier, saying that he should go on ahead. Something came up, but he didn't really say the reason. What was so important that caused Jackson to be late? But even though he was hesitant, he still went anyway.
Jackson was the boss.
What was waiting for Mark? He wasn't really sure. He braced himself for the worst, and erased all of his expectations.
The taxi stopped in front of the tall skyscraper. Wow, this was bigger than the building where he met Mrs. Wang. What did he expect? This was the Chairman of the Wang group of companies, but it was really more than what he expected. He decided to wait for Jackson at the lobby. Unlike the first building he went to, this one was more intimidating. Everyone wore executive clothes, with matching poker faces. Was it normal to feel out of place? Maybe. He should've wore his executive attire.
"Mark dear" Mrs. Wang called out. It seemed that she just arrived too. Mark stood up and gave his greetings.
"Hello, Mrs. Wang. It's nice to see you again."
"Where's Jackson?" I wish I knew where he was.
"He had an emergency meeting with his coach, but he told me he'll be here shortly."
"Ahh. Well, why don't we go ahead then?"
"I'll wait for him here-"
"Nonesense. Come on, let's go. He'll just have to follow." It would've been rude if he said no, so he trailed behind her.
Mrs. Wang's presence was well known here. Everyone gave her polite bows and greetings. Mark even noticed her two bodyguards trail behind them.
This was making him feel uncomfortable.
"You okay, dear?"
"Yes, Ma'am. I'm fine."
"So, how is my son treating you?" She asked.
"He's very caring." She let out a small chuckle.
"That's good to hear. At least he's starting to go back to the way he was before." She said. "Has he told you anything about the girls he used to date?"
"No, he actually hasn't."
"Well, don't take this the wrong way, but there was this girl, Min, that reminds me of you."
"Oh"
"But, let's not talk about her. Sorry for that, dear." Mark wanted to know more about this girl, Min, as she called her. And why Mark resembled her in some way.
"If you don't mind me asking, Ma'am, how long did they date?"
"For about two years, if I'm not mistaken." That was pretty long. What could've happened to them?
A girl suddenly joined them, and it seemed she ran to catch up with them.
"Hello, Yoona. So glad of you to join us."
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Wang. I got stuck in heavy traffic." She said, in between of heavy breathes. Being the kind hearted women she was, Mrs. Wang said it was okay, and gave her a smile.
"Okay, you two stay here. I'll go inform the Chairman and check if he's available. And Yoona, please attend to Mark's needs." Mrs. Wang walked away with her two bodyguards. The two entered the small conference room. Mark sat at the revolving chair, while Yoona took the one across him.
"Is there anything you need, Sir Mark?"
"Nothing, but thank you. And please, drop the Sir, and just call me Mark."
"Okay, Sir- I mean, Mark. And don't call me noon. I'm only 21." She wasn't that old.
"Hey, Yoona. How long have you been working for Mrs. Wang?"
"About two years or so."
"Do you know any girl named Min?"
"Min, as in Sir Jackson's ex-girlfriend?" Mark nodded. "What about her?" Mark shrugged. He wasn't in the place to ask about something like this.
"Was she nice?"
"She was. Very, actually. She kept Sir Jackson smiling." Mark wondered how she did that.
"Oh"
"Don't tell me you're jealous?" Mark shook his head.
"N-n-no, I'm not. I was just curious." Yoona giggled. Okay, maybe Mark felt a bit jealous, and insecure. "Why did they break up?"
"I don't know. We were all surprised. They seemed so happy together, but just like that, we never saw her again. And Sir Jackson- Well, he changed." Who could've initiated the break up? "Mrs. Wang texted me. She told me you can go to the Chairman's office now."
"Okay, thanks Yoona." Mark stood up.
"Good luck, Sir- I mean, Mark." Even she was wishing him some luck. Where the hell was Jackson?
Mark walked nervously. The room was't that hard to find, the door having a sign plastered on the door with the words 'Chairman's office'. He stood in front of the door and cleaned himself. He took a deep breath. He'll just have to start without Jackson.
His hand was about to hit the wooden surface, but, the
