You're Mine

Love Assumed

So it was going to end like this afterall. She should have known. Taeyeon stared mindlessly at the carpeted floor where her luggage quietly sat. After all that push and pull, all that laughing and crying, all that love and conflict, it was still the same. She was still going to have to be without Jessica. She was still going to have to be alone. All alone.

“Is this…” Taeyeon began weakly, tears choking her up easily once more. “…really the best thing that I can do for her?” Krystal could only stay silent as she sat beside the older female with guilt and conflict written all over her face. Meeting silence, Taeyeon lifted her head, letting her gaze fall on Krystal. “I’m not asking to stay as her girlfriend. I’m not asking to continue meeting her either. All I’m asking is to be able to just watch her from af—”

“What’s the point…?” Krystal’s voice was low. Sadness was lingering in that voice. “She… She’s not going to be able to live without the family. She always had everything— almost everything she wanted all her life. She never really had to worry about anything. Suddenly, all these are taken away from her. She might be able to survive for a while but that’s not going to last long.” The girl finally brought herself to meet Taeyeon’s eyes as tears began falling silently. “I don’t want this to happen too… Unnie she’s lost Taecyeon oppa. I can’t let her lose her family. I’m sorry. Unnie I’m really sorry…”

Taeyeon clenched her jaw, pulling herself to look away while she wiped her face with the back of her hand. She didn’t get to tell Jessica goodbye when the girl left her for the States. She knew how painful it was to be left behind without a single word, but this time she was going to do it to Jessica. She closed her eyes, images of the girl she loved suddenly appearing in her mind.

“This is the boarding call for passengers booked on flight KE011 to Los Angeles. Please proceed to gate 2. I repeat. This is the boarding call for passengers booked on flight KE011 to Los Angeles. Thank you.” This was it.

Taeyeon’s eyes snapped open as she stood up. Tears starting to fall seamlessly, she looked at Krystal from the corner of her eyes. “You don’t have to send me any further. I’ll be fine on my own,” she mumbled shakily. “And…please take care of your sister.”

“Unn—” Krystal didn’t get to even call her for the last time because Taeyeon took quick steps towards the departure gate. She had wanted to hug her one last time, to tell her how sorry she was, to tell her how much she didn’t want this to happen, to tell her how much she really wished that she and her sister could be happily in love. But she sat where she was. It was for the better. She at least knew that.

Taeyeon didn’t know how tightly she was holding onto the handle of her luggage as she finally crossed the departure gate. I’m sorry, love. I’m sorry you had to love such a worthless person like me. She closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath before she let it out. The tears just wouldn’t stop falling. Goodbye, Jes—

“Taeyeon!”

She froze. She couldn’t move. Not even a single inch. She would recognize this voice anywhere. Swallowing thickly, she dared to turn her head to look.

There she was. Jessica Jung.

Taeyeon’s face scrunched up almost immediately as the tears crazily built up inside of her. She wanted to call her name. She wanted to run into her arms. She didn’t want to go. She didn’t want to leave the girl she loved with her all, her everything. But, she couldn’t.

“No…” Jessica was crying, and Taeyeon was hurting.

Don’t cry. The words resonated in Taeyeon’s mind, yet they were stuck there. She couldn’t say a word. Taeyeon shook her head. It was over. There was no going back.

“Taeyeon!” Jessica was shouting, and Krystal was trying to hold her back because she was almost being a nuisance to the public.

Taeyeon furrowed her brows. Jessica’s voice was piercing. She closed her eyes, wanting to shake off the thoughts of Jessica, the thoughts of their love, the thoughts of Jessica, Jessica, Jessica.

“Taeyeon please…”

Eyelids beginning to batter, Taeyeon slowly cracked her eyes open. Where am I? She sat up in shock, looking around, only to realize that she was in her room. Was that a dream? She ran her fingers through her hair before she weakly wiped the beads of perspiration that had formed on her head.

“Taeyeon…” Her ears perked up as she snapped her head towards the source of the sound. Jessica?! In her rush to make her way to the door, she stumbled as she accidentally kicked a chair. She hissed in pain, biting her lips while her hand reached the doorknob.

“Tae—” Jessica was almost near to collapsing when Taeyeon finally opened the door. Taeyeon stood where she was, falling open at Jessica’s state.

“Jessica you—” Before she could even complete her sentence, Jessica bawled as she threw herself onto Taeyeon, her arms wrapping tightly around the petite figure.

“Don’t leave me… Taeyeon I’m sorry don’t leave me… Please don’t leave me… I’m sorry… I’m sorry so don’t leave me…” Taeyeon’s arms easily found their way around Jessica’s waist. She frowned while she patted the girl’s back. What was happening?

“I’m not leaving you. I’m not going anywhere Jessica. Stop crying… It’s okay. I’m here.” Taeyeon kept comforting her crying girlfriend. She didn’t have a clue what was happening. Jessica had ignored her calls and messages, and if there was anyone who should have been scared, it should have been her instead of Jessica. “I’m not leaving. I won’t leave. It’s okay…”

Jessica didn’t stop crying even as Taeyeon led her into the room and onto the couch where she held her in her arms. If she had felt torn by all that had happened in the past few days, she could almost say that her heart was almost ripped to a million pieces when she thought that Taeyeon had left her. She wasn’t going to let her go. She wasn’t even sure if she could live if Taeyeon left her sight for just a second more. She didn’t need to explain herself for Taeyeon to understand that massive amount of fear she was feeling because the girl said nothing except to hold her close.

The girls might have stayed in the same position for an hour before Jessica finally pulled away slightly to look at Taeyeon. She cupped Taeyeon’s cheek with one hand, her eyes showing extreme exhaustion. “I thought…you were gone too.”

Too? “Hmm?” Taeyeon frowned in slight confusion. “What do you mean? What happened?”

Jessica her dry lips as she allowed herself to remember all the painful memories. “I’m… I got chased out.”

This time, Taeyeon’s eyes widened. “What?!”

With a gentle nod, Jessica continued, “The company— I was fired too. And…Taecyeon sent the divorce papers.” Taeyeon could only keep staring with agape. How in the world did all these happen in such a short time? It wasn’t the time to think about this. She leaned in, her lips touching Jessica’s forehead ever so gently, and then she locked the girl into an embrace once more.

“Why didn’t you come to me…?” Taeyeon rubbed her back slowly, even though her own discomfort was coming back to her after the shock from Jessica’s visit settled down.

“I’m sorry…” Jessica breathed the words out after a sigh. “Everything was so overwhelming… I didn’t know what to do.”

Taeyeon let out a sigh as well, patting Jessica’s back a few times more before she pulled away. “Let me go cook you something.” She smiled gently, standing up almost immediately.

“Hey,” Jessica called out as she grabbed Taeyeon’s wrist. It was only now that she realized how oddly warm Taeyeon was. “Wait…” She stood up right next to Taeyeon in a flash. Knitting her brows, she touched Taeyeon’s forehead with the back of her hand. “Gosh you’re running a fever!” Taeyeon had no time to react before her girlfriend grabbed her by her shoulders, pushing her to sit back down on the couch. Taeyeon couldn’t help but to chuckle at the sight of Jessica pressing her hands to her hips, thinking hard about what to do. “Um, I’ll just…cook you some porridge. Stay here.”

“Hey, don’t burn my kitchen!” Taeyeon teased and then she let herself settle comfortably on the couch. Her head was beginning to hurt again for some reason, as if it knew not to act up during the emotional episode earlier on.

“Shut up!” The snappish reply only brought a smile to the sick girl, who then snuggled deeper against the couch. She was only just about to fall into a slumber when a soft, uncertain call of her name jolted her awake. She cracked open her eyes as her brown hues stare blankly at the ceiling above her.

“What’s the matter?” If she hadn’t felt the discomfort before, she certainly felt it now. The distasteful throbbing in her head was getting to her, and she was getting close to just ripping her head apart.

“Uh… Where did you put the rice?”

“It’s—” Before Taeyeon got to answer her question, she was soon interrupted by even more questions.

“Oh and, how much water am I supposed to put?”

Despite her pounding headache, Taeyeon found herself chuckling softly at the silly girl. Holding her head, she suddenly didn’t have the appetite for food any more. “Hey, come here…” she requested simply, her voice laced with exhaustion.

A dazed Jessica appeared back at her side not too long after, a hand rubbing her nape in slight embarrassment. Not joining Taeyeon at the couch, she merely stood beside the girl, teeth chewing lightly on her lower lip. With a small hum of uncertainty, she met Taeyeon’s gaze before she opened to speak. “Sorry I—”

“I’m hungry.” The simple words rendering Jessica speechless for a moment, she blinked silently at the girl before she barely managed to find her voice back.

“I know… I really want to cook you something but I’m really not good at—”

Jessica’s chance to complete her sentence was taken away by Taeyeon who spoke up in the midst of her words, yet again. “I’m having a terrible headache.” Taeyeon’s voice was soft, and Jessica swore she could tell a certain kind of enticement in that tone. “Do you know what they say is a good way to cure a headache?”

There was only one answer that came to Jessica’s mind — . Yet, all she could do was to stare, agape, at the seemingly innocent expression on Taeyeon’s face that didn’t match at all her lustful tone.

“And…” Jessica’s eyes followed Taeyeon when the latter stood up, albeit a little weakly, as she continued to speak. “Whoever said that hunger is always related to food?” The question only confirmed Jessica’s thoughts.

“Taeyeon…” The name escaping her lips almost in a whisper, Jessica could do nothing except to follow behind the said girl as she started to make her way towards her room. This time, Taeyeon said nothing except to flash a small smirk that was hidden from Jessica’s sight. “Taeyeon.” Jessica called out once more, her girlfriend’s unusual actions leaving her in complete confusion, but she still didn’t get a response.

It was only when Taeyeon was standing in front of her bed that she uttered, “The fever is burning me up, Sica. I’m feeling too warm with all these clothes on.” Jessica’s heart was ramming hard against her ribcage when Taeyeon turned around to face her, her eyes hazy without a doubt. “Won’t you make me feel better?”

At Taeyeon’s last question, Jessica’s logical mind shut down as it went autopilot. Two strides forward, her hands automatically went for the hem of her girlfriend’s shirt, pulling it up before she tugged it off completely, tossing it mindlessly on the floor. Appendages wrapped firmly around the girl’s petite waist, Jessica pulled her close, feeling an unusual warmth brought about by the fever but she couldn’t care any more at that moment. Her lips soon met Taeyeon’s petal-soft ones in a passionate lip-lock, making sure not to let her urgency get the best of her, especially when Taeyeon was in such a weak state.

Holding Taeyeon steadily by her waist, Jessica subtly pushed the girl towards the bed before settling her down to lie on her back. Wasting no time in ing her own shirt, the article was soon tossed away as Jessica lowered herself on top of the girl. Planting a tender kiss on Taeyeon’s lips, Jessica pulled away shortly after, her eyes locked on Taeyeon’s beautiful brown ones.

“I thought you were gone. I thought I lost you, Taeyeon…”

It was impossible for Taeyeon to miss the way Jessica’s voice trembled, and those simple words wrenched her heart. She held Jessica’s gaze lovingly, sending her reassurance through a single look.  A small smile finally tugging on her lips, she pressed her lips together, not tearing her eyes away from Jessica for even a second. As she released those lips, she spoke the two simple words from deep within her, “I’m yours.”

It was only then that Jessica rediscovered her smile. With a small nod, she landed a delicate peck on Taeyeon’s forehead before she repeated those words.

“You’re mine.”

[A/N] 21/9/2015

Looks like it's been almost a month, but not yet! First of all, if any of you had noticed the wonderful poster for the story, please do thank Maomao- for it. Thank you very much. I loved it and I'm sure the other readers would love it too. You're too sweet. Also, I've updated the description with some details and pictures of the characters in this story so you can all check it out if you want to. :)

So... This chapter was meant to be longer, and by longer, I mean way longer. I've thus decided to split the scenes, and that also means that I'll probably prolong the story just for a little bit. Don't worry though, it wouldn't exceed 40 chapters, but at this point in time, I'm pretty sure it would be longer than The Broken Puzzle. Either way, I'm sure you have got some things to say about this chapter, right? Write me something then, won't you? :)

P.S. The last part of this chapter was initially unplanned, and when I decided to add that, I did think of writing the full scene. (If you know what I mean.) However, I (obviously) decided against it since I felt that it would end pretty well with something sweet and light. What do you think?
