Falling into Place

Stand By You

Jae sighed contentedly as he stirred the pot of kimchi jjiggae he was cooking for their supper. The past couple of months have been a blur as he and Yunho worked on getting custody of their younger brothers. While the court only granted them temporary custody since they were both just starting out, the court felt that it was to the younger boys’ best interested not to be separted from their older brothers. To celebrate, Jae and Yunho took out the boys for ice cream.

Smiling at the memory, Jae resolved to make their first supper as a family at home something extra special. Taking a sip of the soup, Jae nodded his head contented with the taste and turned down the flame on the little stove in his makeshift kitchen in their small apartment.

Upon Yunho’s sweet proposition, Jae and Junsu moved in with him and his brothers in the employee residence that his company provided even for trainees such as himself. While the apartment was a one-room affair, Jae and Yunho tried to make the little place as comfortable for everyone. Not that the kids mind especially since Yoochun has proclaimed Junsu to be his official younger brother.

“What about me then Chunnie?” Jae asked teasing the younger boy. “Aren’t I your brother too?”

Yoochun looked at Jae for an instant and bowed his head shaking it softly. “No hyung. You’re more than just a brother to me.” He said before casting the older boy a sideways glance and smiled.

Jaejoong simply hugged Yoochun, grateful for the change that the boy went through after losing his parents. The once closed-off Yoochun became happier prompting Yunho to tell Jae one evening, “It’s like he’s his same old self when my mom was still alive.” Then Yunho said, “He was like this then too, always following mom around.” He ruefully added.

Jae smiled at the thought as he turned the flame off the stove thinking of how Yoochun started following him around as much as Junsu followed Yoochun.

This made them quite a sight since Jaejoong would be running around getting things cleaned or fixed around their room while taking care of Changmin and Yoochun tailing Jaejoong trying to help his hyung however way he can and little Junsu tailing Yoochun trying to get in the action as much as his little self could.

Taking the pot of soup from the stove to the little dining table, Jae called the boys who were playing with Changmin on the floor to come help set the table. Yoochun and Junsu scrambled over each other trying to get to Jae first.

“Chunnie why don’t you set out the bowls and the glasses,” making sure that Yoochun handled the breakables, “And Susu, why don’t you set the chopsticks and spoons okay?” Jaejoong said to keep the two from fighting.

Taking pride in their given assignments, Yoochun carefully placed the bowls and the glasses on the small table relishing the pride he felt for being picked for the harder task. But, Yoochun could never make Junsu feel bad for he loved the little boy as much as he loved Changmin.

When Yunho asked Jae and Junsu back at the orphanage if they were willing to move in with him and his brothers, Yoochun went up to Junsu and said, “If you say yes, then we can be real brothers.” He said.

Yoochun will never forget the way Junsu’s eyes lit up when he heard that he could be brothers with Yoochun. “With Minnie too?” Junsu said in a whisper.

Yoochun nodded solemnly and said, “Yes, with Minnie too.”

Junsu looked up to his Jaejoong hyung and said, “Can we hyungie?” he asked.

Jaejoong looked at Yunho, then Yoochun, then Changmin, then Junsu then back to Yunho and with a deep shakey breathe he said, “Yes.”

“Good job boys.” Jaejoong said proudly looking at the two who finished their task. Finally setting the rice and the side dishes on the table, Jaejoong sat back on his heels and looked at their handy work.

“It looks so pretty hyungie.” Junsu said clambering on Jaejoong’s knees and cuddled to his brother.

“Of course it does! Anything Joongie amma makes is always pretty.” Yoochun said puffing his chest out with pride. Jaejoong reached over and ruffled Yoochun’s hair who self-consciously brushed his bangs over his forehead back in place.

“You sure have a way with words Chun.” Jae said laughing at the young boy’s action.

Yoochun flushed at the compliment. “Well, it’s true anyway.” He said sheepishly.

“What time is Yunho appa coming home?” Junsu asked his hyung.

Just then, the door opened and in walked Yunho with his training bag in tow seemingly hiding something behind his back.

“Hyungie!!!” Junsu shouted scrambling off Jaejoong and launching himself on the guy.

“Hey kid.” Yunho said welcoming the boy’s hug with a grin. Jae stood up and took Changmin from the floor who started squealing when he saw Yunho.

Yunho dropped a kiss on top of Changmin’s head then turned to look at Yoochun who waited patiently behind everybody else. “Guess what?” He asked his younger brother.

“What?” Yoochun said.

Reaching inside his back pocket, he drew out a piece of paper and showed it to his younger brother whose eyes widened in big circles when he saw what was written on it. “Go on, read what it says.” Yunho urged him.

“To Yoochun: Dream big! Always be kind to your hyung and take care of Minnie. From: Park Junjin.” Yoochun read aloud with a shaky voice.

Jae smiled when he heard the name. For as long as he could remember, Minnie loved Junjin of Shinhwa. “Wow, Chunnie, you have a personalized autograph from Junjin hyung.” He said.

Clutching the piece of paper carefully to his chest, Yoochun ran to his older brother and threw his arms around his waist saying, “Did he really write this out hyung? Did he really?” He asked looking up at his brother.

“Yes he did.” Yunho said ruffling his brother’s hair again. “He dropped by the studio today and I asked him to make it out to my brother.” He said.

“Woah…” Yoochun said looking at the piece of paper again gently smoothing his hand over it. “Thanks hyungie! You're the best!” He whispered.

Smiling at his younger brother, he then looked at Junsu and bowed at his waist so he was looking at the boy on eyelevel and said, “I’m sorry for not having anything for you this time Susu. Yunho hyung wasn’t able to buy you treats like the last time.” He said earnestly.

“But you’re already here hyungie.” Junsu said looking at him innocently patting Yunho lovingly on the head.

Yunho couldn’t help but smile at Junsu. He still couldn’t understand what the boy was trying to say but it certainly made him feel good. Ruffling Junsu’s hair, Yunho finally stood up to look at Jaejoong who was smiling at them.

Fighting the urge to swallow what would have been an audible gulp, Yunho couldn’t help but thank the heavens again when Jaejoong said yes to his proposition.

Standing up straight, Yunho finally faced Jae who an amused look on his face. Taking a deep breath, he smiled at the man he was crazy about and said, "Hi."

“Hey.” Jaejoong said to him with a smile.

Finally revealing what he has been hiding behind his back all this time, Yunho pulled out sunflower that he literally picked up near the side of the road on his way home.

“I… I know it’s not much but… I thought you… you might like it.” Yunho said stammering in nervousness. Jae looked at him in surprise and laughed hiding his smile behind his hand again.

Yunho shook his head and said, “I know it’s… stupid. I just… I thought of you when I saw it.”

Jae stepped forward and grabbed Yunho’s hand who started to pull away. “Don’t.” He said. “It’s… nice.” He added simply.

Passing Changmin on to Yunho, Jae searched through the cupboard until he found a tall glass and put water in it. Putting the lone sunflower in the middle, Jae brought it over to the table and set it on the center with Yunho watching his every move. "Dinner's finally complete and ready boys." He told them with a smile.

Yunho exhaled what apparently was breathe he’s been holding in all this time. Leading his brothers toward the small dining table, he and his little family had their first meal in their new house.

Chapter 33: Uuuh this powerful feel through the story.. cant stop the tears from flooding, You can feel the love from every moments of their live here T_T. The court scene esp portrayed realistically.. yunjae struggled with how society view their uality.. But honestly there is millions children out there who longing for bit of family warmth, and another millions who get abused even in their supposedly ideal straight parent! So it just disgusting how some people disregard the child's welbeing for their personal revenge toward gay or anything different going as far as to separate a perfectly happy family!! So really love yoochun for his words at siwon.. the world really need more this wisdom! Guess this will be one my most loved family fiction :) really adores yunjae domestic life as five whenever it is.. its so heartwarming in their younger days that as teenager yunjae able to put so much responsibility and affection for their brothers, honestly they were inborn to be umma&appa <3 and yeaaay finally they found minnie again! I think micky remember jae heck why he approach him, but to think about it changmin just toddler when they are separated lol.. well hope yunjae and their children have it fate in their favor this time they really deserved all happiness and fluffiness in the world :D <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
