I sat on the wooden steps of my house. A pond was planted for me as a view for my room. I was reminiscing my favourite moments with Oppa when

my sister, Harin, bursts into my room.

"Unnie! You better run! Umma found out you were seeing Oppa! She's going to get so angry!" Harin panickly says to me, her eyes wide.

My stomach swoops, wonder whatever Umma is going to do. I was extremely tempted to pack my bags. But then,I had nowhere to go.

I smile sadly at Harin. "Don't worry, I have nowhere to go anyway. If Umma kills me, that would be better. At least I would stop feeling miserable

all my life." 

Harin's eyes tears up. "Unni.......I'm so sorry for you." She says quietly.

I manage a smile and hug her."It's okay. Really." Just then, I hear Appa yell in anger, and throwing things outside. Harin tenses up, and looks at me.

I swallowed and look back at her. We stare at the door.

"Get that wretched girl here!" Appa yells. My heart pounds so hard and quickly I thought I was having a heart attack.

Umma throws open our door and glares at me. Harin grasps my arm.

"OUT." Umma commands me. At that moment, I look at Umma's face and I no longer felt scared. Only hatred.

So I got up just as she told me to. Harin rises too. But sits back down with a stare from Umma. Umma tugs my arm with so much force I think it was

dislocated. I was forced to kneel in front of Appa. I didn't meet his eyes. I could feel anger radiating from his body.

"Tomorrow you will be twenty." He spoke. His voice loud and clear. I kept silent. It wasn't a question.

"You've caused so much shame and trouble for us, Hyuna. So I think, as a favor, you will do as I say." Pause. "And that is, to get married." He said

with such self-importance. I thought he could stuff his 'favor' in his where it belongs, but I didn't say anything.

"You already have a suitor, you know. Very handsome, rich. All thanks to your Harabeoji." He says again.

"He is the child of the owner of a very popular label. Since he is the first son, he is the director of the company." Appa starts to tell me this suitor's

biography.

"Why, I'm so interested Appa." I said sarcastically. Appa didn't get my sarcasm. Instead, he carried on.

"He will be visiting tomorrow. Don't cause anymore trouble. This man really dotes on you." Appa continues. I waited for further instructions, but

since there was none, I excused myself and went back in my room.
