Broken past
The Story of Us"The past cannot be changed, forgotten, edited or erased; it can only be accepted..."
“Can’t you be a little gentler?” I whispered. My face distorted in pain.
She sighed slowly. “I am gentle,” she said firmly and pressed the cotton ball harder on my swollen lips.
I jolted from her finger and stared at her in horror. My lips stung from the blow. “You just poked me with the cotton ball.”
She smirked and ran her fingers again on my face. “You’re exaggerating. I barely touch your skin. Now stop moving and let me finish treating your wound.”
I sat on my place this time and just let her jabbed my face with iodine. And it’s smelled nasty. I had my nose crinkled the entire time.
“All done,” she cried out and stood on her feet.
I moved my jaws and the pain have subsided. I didn’t feel anything. I felt numb. Well, I guess its better this way rather than feeling like my face was broken.
“Thank you, Chaerin. It’s nice of you to be kind to your ex-husband. I really appreciate it.”
With a little smile, Chaerin moved to the kitchen, washing her hands and drying it with a cloth. I followed her and stood behind her on the sink. With trembling hands, I encircled my arms around her and I felt her body shuddered.
“I miss you,” I murmured close to her ear. “I miss everything about you. I miss everything about us. Our bickering and how we’ll be friends again the next day. Your ego and my pride…it seemed like an endless fight,” I said with a sigh. “But somehow…we always…get back together. We’re both fighting for ambiguous reasons and sometimes, we just fight without a reason. For over a year, you don’t want to let go and I don’t want to let you know, that maybe…there’s something real from our fake marriage. I know…it’s reckless and clumsy because I know you can’t love me here. I just wish that you could give me another chance to love you and make you…”
“Make me what?” she asked and spun around to face me. She rested her back against the counter and her gaze lingered.
…loving me.”
She chuckled and I felt insulted.
“Why did I have to do that?”
“Because you’re already in love with me, Chaerin. Admit it!” I screamed and pushed her body closer to the kitchen counter until our body touched.
“Say it you love me…”
“I…”
“I know you told Yuri that you loved me.”
Her face twisted. “Yuri heard wrong!”
“Last year, you told Yuri and tonight you told Teddy. You tell everyone but me.” I stared steadily on her eyes and for a brief second I saw her gaze trembled as she stunned with my words.
But that was just a flash. The next second, she regained her sense and her stare was hard again and she tore herself from my embrace.
“I’m sorry, Seungri. But love for you, never exist. I don’t know how you could get that stupid idea that I…”
“I saw your tears, Chaerin. Don’t deny it. You’re crying because of me. Because you saw me with Lydia and you’re jealous…”
“I’m not jealous!” she shouted. Her eyes bulged out and she balled her fist. “You made me feel nauseous. I just hate you, so much…”
I cradled her face tenderly between my palms and watched her pretty face lovingly. “You don’t cry for someone you hate…”
Seeing she was frozen, I pulled her into my arms and I let her stayed there quietly for a moment.
“We can fix things,” I said as I her back with the gentlest touch. “You and I, we both…”
She jerked away suddenly and I startled.
“And then what?” she asked harshly and I stood there, astounded. “Every t
