The Story of Us“It’s wrong to give up to that one person you still love, but it’s worse if you use someone else to forget about him…”
Dinner at Seunghyun hyung’s was pretty decent. Idle chitchat was minimal, even though Yuri had done her best to keep the mood light and cheerful. Despite her best effort to defuse the tension in the room, Yuri had received little cooperation from Bom and Taeyang. Jiyong had commented a couple of times in response to questions Seunghyun hyung had asked him, but he was a bright guy and quickly realized the less said the better.
When Chaerin offered to help clear away the table and clean up in the kitchen, Yuri smiled and said, “Don’t bother, Chae. I can handle that.” But due to stubborn gene in my wife, she followed her to the kitchen. I guess she just want to run away from all this tension radiating from my body.
I watched Taeyang and Bom playing with their six months old baby, Ji Hoon. Bom held him gently while Taeyang sang him to sleep. Jiyong was telling a story to Daesung about how magnificent he was in solving someone’s marriage problem. Apparently, someone did hire him to investigate her cheating husband. Not that Daesung was surprised at the fact that he was awesome. I just think Daesung was playing along, listened to him with amusement and sometimes he let out a simple gasp and Seunghyun hyung was upstairs, checking up on his baby and here I am, feeling a little left out.
I felt that I don’t belong here, being among this happy couple. And I swore I could see butterflies and flowers floating around them. I felt miserable. I had to get out of here. And I found myself walking to the kitchen. Although, that was probably not a brilliant idea, especially when someone was talking about me.
I hid myself behind a pillar and I saw Yuri was washing dishes and Chaerin was drying a plate with a cloth. She seemed to be distressed, with a frown on her forehead.
“It’s been a year, Chae. Don’t tell me that you don’t love him. It’s impossible. He’s a sweet guy,” Yuri said softly. Yeah, tell her that Yuri. I am sweet, kind, loving, and hot. I’ve got it all.
It’s really comforting to hear someone was on my side. All this while I thought that I was alone fighting with the world in my losing battle, and there’s Yuri, giving her persuasive speech and I can’t help, feeling a little giddy inside. Listen to her, Chaerin. Listen to her, I chanted in my mind.
Chaerin sighed helplessly, putting down the plate on the drying rack. “I know, Yuri. I mean…I tried to love him…but I…just can’t. We can't force feeling. It comes naturally."
Thank you for speaking the truth Chaerin. Although she’s not saying it to me, I’m just glad that I finally knew how she felt. I inhaled slowly, trying to mend my broken heart. I thought my heart was already numb after months of cold shoulder and harsh words that she’s giving me, but after all that, my heart was still hurt.
“Are you in love with someone else?” Yuri asked, peeling off the rubber glove from her hands and put it away. “Maybe…” she said as she looked at Chaerin suspiciously. “You’re still in love with Seunghyun oppa.”
Chaerin’s eyes suddenly grew wider. “Wh-what are you talking about? He’s your husband. And I’m not that mean.”
Yuri laughed softly. “I know, I know. I was just kidding.” She smiled widely at her and Chaerin laughe
