Greenhouses and Gryffindors
Mischief Managed (Or, sorta...)
It’s 7:45 a.m. the next morning, and Luhan can’t focus.
“So according to Professor Flitwick, our first Hogsmeade trip is two weeks from today,” Suho rambles at breakfast, while pouring maple syrup over Luhan’s waffles. Luhan keeps fidgeting with his fork, not touching his plate, and sneaking glances at the table across from him. The Slytherin table.
“Boo, why aren’t you eating?” Suho glances from Luhan’s furrowed brow to the green clad students across from them.
“Don’t tell me you’re still hung up on the accident from yesterday,” Lay mumbles, half-awake, munching on his french toast stick.
“Why are they so cold...? Why is he so cold?” Luhan questions while sneaking another glance at the table.
“By he, you’re meaning the one you collided with and got threatened by on your first day. Right?” Lay suggests unusually attentive this early in the morning. Luhan nods his head, finally shoving a raspberry into his mouth.
“Sehun’s practically royalty in Slytherin,” Lay mutters.
“Yeah comes from a long line of purebloods. And boy, do they pride themselves on that,” Suho adds, grimacing.
“Made the Quiditch team first year, second term,” Lay states, sipping his orange juice. “But I thought first years never make the team,” Luhan says in surprise.
“They don’t. Usually,” Suho says uneasily. “See, there’s a story that goes along with that. The chaser that Sehun took the place of was severely injured. That’s why he couldn’t play, and some say that Sehun had something to do with the accident. But no one really knows.”
“He’s a real sketchball, if you ask me,” states Lay matter-of-factly before he lays his head on the table and goes to sleep.
After waking Lay up after breakfast, the trio heads to their first class, Transfiguration with the Gryffindors.
Luhan doesn’t know anyone from that house but is informed by Lay that they are friendly. More or less.
When they arrive, neatly written on the blackboard is their first task. They have to transfigure a lamp into a teapot. Each pair gets two turns. The first pair to transfigure the object correctly gets to skip the homework for the day.
As everyone pairs up, Lay brushes by Luhan, picking him as his partner for the lesson. Luhan sees Suho pair up with another Gryffindor boy, chattering away. They stand in line, behind two Gryffindor boys.
The first duo fails to accomplish the task, only getting the lamp to shrink a few inches.
Up next are the two Gryffindor boys. Lay tells Luhan that the taller one is Park Chanyeol, and the shorter one is Byun Baekhyun. Apparently they blew up one of the toilets in one of the girls’ lavatories their first year.
The first boy, Baekyhun, recites the spell, carefully moving his wand in the correct wandwork. The lamp shrinks down and turns to glass, halfway transforming into the teapot. If Chanyeol can finish the transformation, they’ll win the prize of no homework.
Chanyeol puffs out his chest and proudly declares, “Never fear, Baek! I can do this!”
