Luhan drops into his seat three minutes before the bell rings, his bag hitting the ground with a thud. 

He is breathing hard, and his gold and black striped tie is askew, having had to run to class after getting lost and ending up in a girls’ lavatory instead of a classroom. Needless to say, the girls in the bathroom had been shocked to see a boy stumble through the door, which had resulted in several shrieks of, “Get out!” and “This is the girls’ lavatory stupid.” 

Luhan groans, remembering the incident, and drops his head into his hands. It’s the first day of his sixth year, but since he just transferred from his old school, it’s been hard finding his way around the humongous halls and moving staircases of Hogwarts. 

His old school didn’t have moving staircases. 

Luhan looks at the boy sitting next to him, another Hufflepuff sixth year he met last night during dinner, whose name is Lay. Lay’s friend, another Hufflepuff student Luhan met named Suho, sits on Lay’s other side, furiously scribbling something on a piece of parchment. 

Lay laughs a little at Luhan’s expression. “What happened?” he asks Luhan, eyes taking in his rumpled clothes and disheveled hair. “Get lost?”

Luhan sighs, and nods, but doesn’t elaborate. It’s too painful to remember. 

Instead, he begins to pull books out of his bag. Magical Potions and  How to Make Them, by Amelia Crumpet, has just hit the top of the desk, making Lay’s bottle of ink tip and splash all over his parchment, when the bell rings. Lay exclaims in surprise, grabbing the ink bottle and putting it right side up, as Suho, grabs the ruined parchment and begins shaking it out over the floor. 

Luhan is starting to apologize when four boys, dressed in the emerald color of Slytherin, stroll through the door, ties loosened around their necks and robes hanging off of their shoulders. 

Luhan blinks. He noticed the Slytherin table last night, at the welcoming feast. They didn’t seem to like the Hufflepuffs very much. Or any other house for that matter. 

Luhan watches them curiously as they all take seats next to each other, slouching in their seats and managing to look incredibly bored. Luhan can’t seem to stop staring at them, even as the teacher strides in and begins taking roll. There’s a tall one with dirty blonde hair. Hair that looks like it could survive a thunderstorm and still look perfect. The boy next to him is slightly shorter, with black hair, and he looks the most bored of all. Or maybe it’s just the dark shadows under his eyes that make him look like he’s constantly glaring at the world. Luhan shifts his eyes to the next boy. This one actually looks like he might have a friendly bone in his body, unlike the others. He’s smiling, although Luhan isn’t sure at what, and pushing his brown hair away from his eyes.

But Luhan forgets to wonder about what the boy might be smiling at when he looks at the last boy in the group. This one looks especially moody, his dark brown hair falling messily over his forehead. 

But there’s something about him that makes Luhan turn to Lay and ask, “Who are they?”
