Sulli: Anyway, I think our study session is only for 2 hours, according to Taehyun’s schedule

Minzy: Sure, in another 15 minutes okay

Krystal: Jinyoon can you guys come over too, I wanna discuss the Halloween party

Seungyoon: Sure

Minzy: Ohhh, something about costumes?

Seunghoon: I only wanna come to the party dressed as Minzy’s boyfriend

“Seunghoon said he’s coming over,” Minzy announced to the group when she checked her phone for messages. “Is that okay, Taehyun?”

Taehyun looked at his watch and realized they had all been sitting there for almost 2 hours now so he gave his assent.

Seunghoon arrived with a lot of noise as usual, banging on the door and greeting everyone at the top of his lungs. He made a beeline for Minzy who was sitting cross-legged on the floor, putting a possessive arm around her.

“Wow! I have never seen you guys surrounded by so many books before?” he noted as he looked around the room.

“Our Taehyun is a taskmaster,” Krystal joked. “I know, I know. I was the one who suggested he help us.”

“You look well, hyung,” Mino observed with a grin.

“Yeah, I’m doing better. Gotta be well for the party you know,” Seunghoon winked.

At the mention of party, Krystal perked up. “Ah yes, that reminds me, have you guys decided on your costumes?”

There was a murmur of No’s, the boys especially looked disinterested.

“Oh come on guys, I have to know what you all are wearing so we don’t end up in the same costumes. That will be awful,” Krystal made a face as she recounted the time she and her best friend ended up wearing the same Catwoman costume.

The boys still looked unenthusiastic. “I will probably wear whatever clothes I have and make up a name for it,” P.O. assured Krystal saying they will never end up with the same costume.

Krystal was flabbergasted. “You guys are no fun,” she whined with a crestfallen face, then she suddenly perked up again. “I know how we can make this fun.”

Taehyun noticed the evil glint in her eyes and he was a little scared. What are these people going to come up with this time? He looked at his boyfriend next to him but Mino seemed completely taken to whatever Krystal was saying.

“…and then we put them all in a bowl and whatever paper you pick, you HAVE to wear it. No take-backs.”

Now everyone was smiling and Taehyun believed he could see the gears turning in their heads, thinking about the worst possible costume ideas they could make the others wear. He wondered if they knew they could be the ones picking a bad costume.

Krystal was already handing out strips of paper when Seungyoon and Jinwoo arrived to join the lottery, they were informed of what was going on by Seunghoon. After much giggling and furious thinking, all the papers went into a bowl.

Taehyun didn’t put much thought into his paper, writing down the first thoughts that came into his head- The Joker, Spiderman, Wonder woman. All boring clichés. Everyone sat around the bowl, picking the order in which they can pick their costumes.

Zico raised his hand in a self-important fashion and coughed. “Let’s make a few ground rules first. Its already decided that there are no take backs. Apart from that, there will be no exchanging, no deviating from what is written on the paper, and there has to be a penalty for whoever breaks the rules.”

Everyone agreed and another discussion started on what the penalty will be. After much contemplation, it was agreed that the penalty will be 5 kicks on the by each and everyone in the group, and the girls readily agreed on the gender equality of the punishment.

The bowl went around the circle. “Skeleton,” Krystal announced with a cry of excitement. “I already know I am going to make this so y.”

“Vampire,” Kyung announced his costume with a fist in the air.

“iPod?” Minzy looked at her paper, brows furrowing. “How the hell can an iPod be made into a Halloween costume?”

“You’ll have to find a way,” Seunghoon answers with a fighting sign.

“Fred Flinstone,” P.O. announced, making a face at his paper while someone laughed, apparently the one who wrote it down.

“Minion,” Sulli opened her paper and heaved a sigh of relief.

“Cow,” Zico read his out loud. “What does this mean? Am I supposed to walk on four feet?”

“No, bro. I know those cute fluffy animal costumes. Girls dig that,” P.O. assured him, bringing a huge grin to form on Zico’s face.

“Anything for the ladies.”

“The bride from the movie…” Taehyun read his but couldn’t finish his sentence as he crumpled the paper. He tried to secretly pick another piece of paper from the bowl but everyone’s eyes were on him, and Seunghoon caught his hand trying to sneak in the bowl with a tsk.

“…from the movie Corpse Bride,” Minzy finished for him, laughing out loud.

“But it’s a female costume,” Taehyun cursed mentally whoever wrote the damn thing. He loved the movie, sure, but he cannot possibly be dressed as a bride to a club party. “Can’t I be the bridegroom instead?”

“No take backs. ‘Bride’ is clearly written over there,” Krystal denied the request.

“I am essentially wearing a dress too, Taehyun-ah,” P.O. consoled the dejected boy. “Unless you want 50 kicks in the , and I played football in High School.” The last words were a direct threat and Taehyun kept his mouth shut, looking pitifully towards his boyfriend but Mino did nothing to help him.

“Oh my gosh I have the perfect wig for you to wear with the bride costume I swear,” Krystal pulled at Taehyun’s hand, excitement written all over her face. Taehyun found he could not share the enthusiasm.

“Clown,” Mino read his paper and his face fell, and Taehyun deemed it as karma working.

“Cable,” Seunghoon announced and he fell on his back laughing uncontrollably. “I got my own paper.”

“How the hell is cable a costume?”

“I don’t know,” he wheezed, trying to sit back up with Minzy helping him. “I didn’t know what to write so I just wrote whatever I could see. If anyone got ‘pen’ or ‘paper’ that’s mine too,” he confessed.

“And iPod? Was that yours too?” Minzy did not look happy as she glared into Seunghoon’s eyes and the guy lost the humor in his face completely, straightening his back.

“I’m sorry. I’ll help you figure out the costume, I swear,” Seunghoon folded his hands as a plea.

“Angel,” Jinwoo read his paper and smiled.

“Devil,” Seungyoon read his.

“Angel and Demon,” they yelled out loud at the same time and hugged each other, earning scornful looks from the rest of the group.

“Lucky bastards,” Mino mumbled under his breath and looked at Taehyun. “I wanna go as a couple too.”

“Sorry, even the undead hates clowns,” Taehyun sneered disdainfully.

The day of the Halloween party Taehyun and Bobby were alone in the apartment having a late lunch. Taehyun couldn’t bring himself to dress up in front of his cousin and stalled a while, but he knew he had to get dressed soon before the others arrive at his place so they can leave together for the club.

“What are you wearing to the party?” he warily brought up the subject to Bobby seated opposite to him on the dining table. He had gone to the costume shop to rent a bridal gown the day before, hiding it from view and hoping it will fit him as he was too embarrassed to try on the dress at the shop.

“Luffy,” Bobby announced with a pose, a stupid grin on his face.

“You’ve got your costume ready?”

“Yep.”

“Aren’t you gonna ask me what I’m going to wear?”

“I already know,” Bobby answered with a straight face. Taehyun was not convinced.

“And…?”

“And what?” Taehyun saw confusion in Bobby’s eyes. Does he really know?

“If you’re gonna make fun of me please do it right now,” he banged his chopsticks on the table, flinging his hair back to prepare for the verbal assault that he thought was going to come.

“Why should I make fun of you? You’ve always loved dressing up as a girl when we were children, I am used to it,” Bobby merely replied as he continued eating.

Taehyun groaned at the memory, blushing a deep red. “Oh god, please don’t remind me. And if you tell anyone about it you’re dead okay.”

Bobby raised his hands in defense. “Hey, I ain’t judging your tastes, okay. I’m perfectly cool with it.”

“This time I was forced okay, it’s not a taste, it was a phase and I grew out of it,” Taehyun grumbled, picking up his chopsticks again.

“You made a pretty girl,” Bobby commented casually, his attention still on the food bowl in front of him and Taehyun was glad for that. He was sure he was sporting a smile on his face.

“But how am I supposed to show up at the club dressed in a bride’s costume,” Taehyun worried his bottom lip at the thought. “I guess we will all take a cab since we might be drinking there and…”

Bobby cut off Taehyun’s mumbling. “You think too much, just dress up and go have fun. No one gives a  crap what you wear really, aish.”

Taehyun couldn’t think of a proper retort but he needed to have the last word. “Luffy is dumb,” he stuck out his tongue at Bobby and left the dining table.

Putting the dress on came naturally to him, his fingers seemed to have better memories than his brain.  And the dress fit, thankfully. It was a princess gown that reached the floor, bits of tears and dirt on the lace that covered the whole skirt, ruffled lace collar and it had long sleeves to hide his muscular arms. It was a bit tight in some places but it hugged his body nicely, and he was not unhappy with his reflection in the mirror. His phone kept buzzing on the desk, announcing an onslaught of messages but he ignored them for the moment, knowing it was the group chat on kakaotalk.

He wore the long black wig that Krystal gave him and straightened it out. He carefully added the finishing touches to his look, a lot of black eyeliner and eye shadow, powder for his face and neck to give that ghostly halo, he was done.

Bobby came in with his straw hat and black vest, sporting a smile as big as the real Luffy and whistled when he saw Taehyun. “Is that you in there, Taehyunie?”

Taehyun awkwardly stood up from his seat, straightening out his dress. “Too much?” he asked with nervous eyes.

“Not at all, but you look completely different,” Bobby’s eyes were as wide as they could possibly get. “Let’s take a pic!” he shouted as he rushed towards Taehyun brandishing his phone. “Damn! It’s been ages since we last dressed up for Haloween together huh?”

Taehyun posed for the picture without complaint. Their phones buzzed again at the same time and Bobby checked the messages.

“Oh no!”

Taehyun was instantly alarmed. “What is it?”

“Check your messages.”

Seunghoon: guys I don’t think I can go

Minzy: Yeah, he’s got sick again today

Jinwoo: Oh no!

Seunghoon: I’ll be fine. I’ll go to the doctor first thing tomorrow

Minzy: yeah, I’ll just stay with him tonight

Seungyoon: But it won’t be fun if you guys aren’t there

Zico: If you can’t come we’ll just have to bring the party over to you

Mino: That’s a great idea. Your building will be holding their own Halloween party anyway

Seunghoon: But the free drinks at Choiza’s party…

P.O.: We can afford our own drinks

Kyung: We’ll just gorge on cheap beer what’s the big deal

Minzy: You guys don’t have to do that

Krystal: It’s decided. We’re bringing the party to Seunghoon’s room

Choiza: I missed out on college parties. Can I come?

Seunghoon: Nah. I just have to go the bathroom every few minutes other than that I am fine

“What the hell bro,” someone shouted at him, causing him to almost jump out of his skin. He turned around to see P.O. dressed in a really short Leopard skin dress and blue necktie.

“I am not sorry,” Mino stood up tall and stared back defiantly, chin raised.

“That is NOT your costume,” Zico had also come out to the living room, dressed in a fluffy cow costume with a big golden bell on his neck.

“I know, but matching with Taehyun trumps kicks to the ,” he smiled unapologetically, straightening his bow-tie.

“I’m gonna have fun kicking your ,” P.O. warned, but he hardly looked menacing with his bare feet and short dress.

Taehyun got out of the cab as he reached the mini-mall where he is supposed to meet the others. He had to hitch up his skirt to walk, and he mentally laughed at himself when he can see his black leather boots underneath the layers. They can force him into a dress but there is no way in hell he will be wearing heels. He knew where the liquor shop was located and made a beeline for it, and from the distance he can see 4 boys holding cardboard boxes in their arms.

“Dan dan da dannnn dan dan da dannn,” he heard them humming as he approached the group who seemed to be standing their ground and merely watching him approach. He can make out their costumes- a cow, Fred Flinstone, a tuxedoed male and Dracula in a cape? He could not help the heat forming in his cheeks as the wedding song grew louder, and he realized the guy in the tuxedo was Mino.

“What the hell!”

“My exact reaction,” P.O. quipped as Taehyun glared daggers at Mino, who seemed to be rendered mute, staring at Taehyun’s face.

“You look…” Mino’s jaw looked like it was about to hit the floor.

“I’m going back to change,” Taehyun hitched up the layers of his skirt in a series of huffs and turned to walk away, not appreciating that Mino blatantly broke the rules while he was forced to go around in drag. A hand grabbed his arm before he could even take two steps, and yanked him back with so much force he spun around. He tripped on the long train of his dress and would have fallen if not for the strong arm holding him from the back. He opened his eyes to see Mino’s own staring straight at him. He opened his mouth to protest but no words left his mouth because soft lips and a forceful tongue clamped onto him, leaving him bereft of oxygen and any form of practical thought.

He gave in to the intrusion, his lips parting wider as he on supple flesh and tasted the familiarity. He held on to the arms that prevented his fall, desperate to taste more, however, the sounds of whistling penetrated his ears and into his conscious, reminding him where they were. He clamped his mouth shut and opened his eyes, scrambling to stand upright on his own two feet.

“You,” the word came out in between a series of pants as he clenched his fists, glaring at Mino. Anger, breathlessness, desire, all wrapped in one. 

“I…I don’t know what came over me,” Mino closed the gap between them, looking apologetic.

“Yo Mino! Didn’t know you had necrophilia,” P.O. called out, bringing the couple’s attention to him.
