The Wolf

You were now left alone with Kai whom you still hadn’t really spoken to. You knew you had to speak with him, but the anger and disappointment held you back. You didn’t know if you had already forgiven him, or if you were angry with him. You let out a sigh as you turned around.

Kai was standing there patiently. He had a blank expression on and waited for you to start. You had honestly hoped that he would speak first. That way it would be a lot easier for you. You could either scold him, or forgive him. Right now, you didn’t know what you wanted to say. Then suddenly a thought popped up in your mind. You looked at Kai and locked gazes with him.

“Avry, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to lose control I just-”

“How did come back?” You said as you cut him off without actually realizing that he was speaking. You had just said what you thought aloud.

“Come back?” He repeated your words confusedly. “What do you mean?”

“You lost control.” You said without breaking the eye contact between you. “I saw it in your eyes. It wasn’t your eyes, they were different. I know that your eyes changes color when you transform, but I’ve always been able to see that it’s you. But this time, I couldn’t. I couldn’t find you; I just found the desire to tear me to shreds.”

Kai closed his eyes. He wasn’t sure what to say. You were right, he had lost control, but to admit that he hadn’t recognized you as anything else than a pray wasn’t something he wanted to do. He had promised to keep you safe, and no matter how you looked at it; wanting to hunt you down and rip you apart was not at all keeping you safe.

“How did you come back?” You questioned again. “You guys told me that when the rage subsided and the blackness disappeared from your vision you would be human again. How did you come back?”

“I-I…” Kai was at a total loss of words. To be honest he had no idea what had brought him back. All he knew was that he was enveloped in darkness, when suddenly light began to shine through. The next thing he saw was you standing before him with closed eyes and a tear trailing down your cheek. Lay had been beside him, just seconds from jumping at you.

“I don’t know…” He said with a low voice as he looked at you. His eyes filled with confusion, before they suddenly seemed to light up a little. “I-I heard something. A voice. It was talking to me from somewhere inside the darkness. It begged me not to do it. I didn’t understand what it meant, what it asked me not to do. Then suddenly I realized that it was you. It was your voice calling me from somewhere beyond the darkness. The next thing I saw was a tiny light somewhere far away, I tried to reach it and it grew. It kept growing until I could suddenly see what was going on. I’ve never experienced something like that before…”

He let the end of the sentence hang in the air as confusion took over him once again. He had lost control before, but never had he experienced something like this, nor heard of anyone who had. It was confusing, and made absolutely no sense to him.

You were about just as confused as Kai was. You didn’t know if you were going to believe him or not. Yes, you had begged them not to kill you, but you didn’t utter the words aloud. Only inside your head. It made no sense.

“I don’t understand. I didn’t-” You didn’t finish the sentence as your eyes landed on the bloody stripe that went across his chest. Your eyes widened as you saw how the red color slowly spread across his shirt. Without thinking, you rushed over to him and placed a hand on his chest. When you looked at it, it was covered in fresh red blood.

“Kai are you okay?” You asked almost in panic as he just looked down at you in a mixture of surprise and confusion. When he saw the worry in your face and the blood on your hand his eyes widened.

“When did this happen?!” He asked as he looked down at his chest.

“It must have been when you fought with Lay…” You mumbled while looking at your hand. You then looked up at him and placed your hands on his shoulders, slowly pushing him backwards until his back hit the wall.

“Sit down and stay there.” You said as you applied pressure on his shoulders and forced him to sit. “I’ll be right back.”

You turned around and started to walk further into the cave.

“Where are you going?” Kai called after you, still a little bit confused.

“To get what I need to treat your wound!” You called back before you disappeared out of his view and into the shadows of the cave.

You let out a sigh as you moistened the cloth Sehun had used to wipe away the blood on your forehead the day he brought you to the cave. You had already washed it the day before, so infection from a dirty cloth wasn’t one of your worries. You took a deep breath and sorted out your thoughts before you went back.

When you came out of the shadows, Kai was sitting on the ground with his back leaned against the cave wall behind him. He had taken of his shirt and dropped it on the ground next to him. Now he was calmly sitting there while studying his wound with a frown.

You blinked a little at the sight in front of you. He had beautiful tan skin and defined muscles. His hair fell down and covered his eyes, and from where you stood, the sunshine from outside the cave made it look like he was glowing. He looked absolutely beautiful. Hadn’t it been for the big, bloody scratch that went across his chest, you might have just been standing there admiring him.

You quickly shook your head and snapped back to reality. You quietly scolded yourself inside your head as you walked over to him and crouched down beside him. When you sat down, Kai took his eyes of his wound and looked at you. You forced a smile and lifted your arm.

“This might hurt a little.” You said as you locked gazes with him for a few seconds. Kai gave you a short nod and you shifted your eyes to his chest. You carefully pressed the moistened cloth on his wound and began to wipe away the blood.

Kai didn’t say anything, but when you looked up at him you could see him biting down on his lower lip while balding his hands into fists. You knew it hurt, how couldn’t it? Even though, you had to do it. If a wound that big were infected it would be bad. Really bad. You didn’t want that to happen.

The following minutes went by at an awkwardly slow pace. Neither of you said anything, and as you finally finished treating his wound you smiled a little, pleased with your work. You looked up at him and you smile brightened a little.

“There, I’m done. Now you just have to rest a little and let it heal, and then everything should be fine.”

Kai nodded a little while letting out a grunt as he straightened up while looking down at his chest. When he was done studying the now treated and securely wrapped wound, he looked up at you and smiled. “Thank you, Avry.”

You nodded a little and blew some hair out of your face, only to have it fall back in front of your eyes a few seconds later. You let out a sigh and lifted your hand to get it out of your face and place it behind your ear, where it wouldn’t annoy you anymore.

“Here, let me.” Kai said with a little smile as he lifted his hand and secured the hair behind your ear. You smiled a little at him as he did that. Kai returned the smile and let his hand caress your cheek on its way back to his side. You could feel a faint blush creep up on your cheeks as you carefully leaned into his touch.

“Com here.” Kai said as he patted the ground next to him. You gave him a short nod before you sat down. You blushed a little as he surprised you by laying his arm around your shoulders, you didn’t say anything though; just leaned against his shoulder and relaxed.

You sat in silence like that for a while. It wasn’t an awkward silence, but a comforting one. Kai entertained himself by playing with your hair. You didn’t mind it, and just leaned on his shoulder while relaxing. You chuckled a little as he used some of your hair to tickle your face. You laughed and snuggled your face into his shoulder to hide it from your hair.

“Stop it. It tickles.” You said with a muffled laugh. Kai found your reaction rather amusing, and just continued to tickle you. When you realized it wouldn’t work to just tell him to stop, you began tickling his sides.

Kai started to laugh and tried to push your hands away. You laughed with him as you continued to tickle him mercilessly. Soon he was thrashing around just like a fish out of water, while his laughter echoed through the cave. His laughter rang in your ears and sent tingles down your spine. You couldn’t help but to smile. You loved the sound of his laughter. It felt good to hear it. It made you relax and forget about all the things you should actually worry about.

You stopped for a second and looked at him. He was laying on his back with his hands on his stomach, while his chest heaved up and down from all the laughing. His head was leaned back and a big smile covered his face as his laughter slowly started to fade. He let out a deep breath before he sat halfway up and leaned on his elbows, before he flipped his bangs out of his face.

“Something wrong?” He asked as he tilted his head a little to the side. You couldn’t help but smile at how cute he was.

“No, why would it be?” You smiled a little as you stood up and walked over to where his head was. You crouched down beside him and smiled at him, a smile he gladly returned.

“I don’t know.” He said honestly. “But you do know you’re going to have to pay for that right?”

“Pay what?” You asked, a little bit confused as his smile suddenly started to turn into a smirk. You raised an eyebrow at him as you slowly leaned backwards, ready to jump away if he tried to do something. You had no idea what he was talking about, but usually when people said you were going to pay for something, it didn’t end well.

You yelped as Kais arm shut forward and secured itself around your waist, quickly pulling you towards him. You had no time to react before your back was pressed against the ground underneath you with Kai hovering over you.

You blinked at him a few seconds, confused and surprised at how fast he had moved the both of you to the position you now were in, even with the big wound across his chest. You blushed a little as he smirked at you again.

“You can’t just pull a tickle-attack on me like that and expect to get away with it unpunished.” He said as he slowly started to move his arms.

“W-Wait, Kai. Don’t do that. Please d-don’t-” You stammered before you were cut off by your own laugh. You laughed at the top of your lungs as you thrashed around uncontrollably while trying to get away from him. Kai had found one of your biggest weaknesses. You were extremely ticklish at you sides, and when someone tickled you there, you would lose all control of your body as laughter took over and you started to thrash around like a fish out of water, unable to do anything but laugh.

Kai seemed to be really enjoying the scene in front of him. He was tickling you non-stop as your laughter rang through the air and echoed from the walls. You were totally chanceless against him. Your angelic smile and trilling laugh made him smile and chuckle silently for himself.

“S-Stop. Please! Mercy! I c-can’t breathe!” You called out between laughs as you tried to shove his hands away. Kai shook his head with a little chuckle, and gave in; letting you catch his wrists.

You quickly rolled away from him and stood up while trying to steady your breath, still a little out of breath from all the laughing. Kai currently had his back against you, and with a smile, you took your opportunity to take your revenge. You took a few quick steps before you jumped on his back, making him stumble forward a few steps. You quickly secured your arms around his neck so you wouldn’t fall off before he regained his balance.

Kai stumbled a few steps forward at the sudden extra weight on his back. He managed to regain his balance quickly and turned his head to look at your smiling face. A laugh escaped his mouth before he shook his head. He knew it would take more than to just spin around to get you off. He therefore walked to the opening of the cave and looked around quickly to see if anyone was there. He weren’t sure if anyone had heard all the loud laughing, but the coast was clear, so he walked out.

“You know what would be nice?” You said as you looked at the beautiful scenery that displayed before you.

“What?” Kai asked as he walked over to where the path down the hill started.

“To take a walk in the forest.” You said with a faint smile. Kai nodded a little before he let out a little sigh.

“I’d love to take you for a walk and show you around, but you know I can’t.” He said as he let his eyes roam over the forest in front of him. You nodded to what he said before you let go of him and landed on the ground. Kai turned around and smiled faintly at you.

“How’s your ankle?”

You looked down at your feet and moved your weight from your heels to your toes and back. “It’s fine. I actually don’t feel any pain anymore.” You said as a smile started to spread across your lips. “How’s your wound? Does it hurt?”

Kai looked down on his chest before shaking his head. “To be honest I had totally forgotten about it.” He looked back up at you with a smile. All of a sudden, his eyes widened a little together with his smile.

“Avry!” He said quickly while giving you a big smile. You blinked at him, surprised by his sudden outburst of happiness.

“What?” You asked as you raised your eyebrow a little.

“I had almost forgotten one of the reasons why I came here!” He said with a smile as he took your hand. “I came to check up on you, and to move you to another cave. Let’s go, I’ll show you the other cave, and give you a little tour around the forest while we’re walking.”

A smile spread across your face as your brain processed the thought of finally getting away from the boring cave you had been stuck in for the past few days. You smiled and nodded your head eagerly as Kai began to walk down the hill while pulling you with him, still holding your hand.

“Kai. Hold on a second.” You said after a few seconds as you suddenly realized something. Kai turned towards you with a questioning gaze. “You forgot something.” You said, making him even more confused.

“Your shirt.” You said, and shyly pointed towards his chest that was only covered a little by the fabric you had used to bind his wound with. Kais eyes widened a little at the realization and he hurriedly got back to the cave, before he came back out with his shirt on. He then took your hand and led you through the forest.

All the while, you were walking, you couldn’t stop smiling. You felt happy just being around Kai, and with all the stupid things he said, and the tour he gave you around the forest while the sun was setting in the distance, casting a beautiful light over the trees just made everything even more wonderful.

You soon arrived at your destination. It was different from the cave before. This cave weren’t on top of a hill, but rather inside a mountain, with the entrance hidden between rocks and bushes, and the foot of another mountain. Not far from the cave was a lake where you could take a swim or wash yourself, without leaving too far from the cave. It was so much better than the previous cave. The only bad thing was that it was farther away from the den, which meant that neither of the boys could visit you as often as they pleased, but on the other side it decreased the chances of you being caught.

When you entered the cave and looked around, Kai waited outside for you. You quickly finished looking before you went back out to where he stood and searched with his senses for any other wolves in the area. As you stepped out, the last rays of sun disappeared behind the mountains and left you in a growing darkness.

“It’s late.” You said as you stopped beside him. “Maybe you should get back before they start looking for you.”

Kai nodded a little, not paying too much attention to what you were actually saying. When he was positive that there were no other wolves around, his looked up at the sky that had shifted to a shade of dark blue. He could see a single star shining up there and smiled a little.

“Maybe I’ll stay through the night.” He said as he turned his gaze towards you. You nodded and smiled at him and slipped your hand in his. “Then let’s go inside before the cold comes. I’m already sleepy.”

With your fingers entwined, you took a few steps backwards as you slowly entered the cave. Kai walked after you, your gazes still locked and a little smile on both of your faces. You had just taken a few steps inside the cave, before you stumbled upon a rock and lost your balance. You closed your eyes and prepared for the impact with the ground, but it never came. Instead, you felt a strong arm wrap around your waist and catch you midair.

You opened your eyes, and found yourself staring into Kais deep brown eyes. You blinked a bit surprised, but then smiled at him. A smile he gladly returned.

Kai smiled at you as he held an arm around you. He had quick reflexes, and had reacted the second you stumbled and got out of balance. He looked at you and studied your facial features. Your beautiful eyes that seemed to sparkle in the dark, your soft skin and slightly pink cheeks. Your long soft hair that fell freely around your shoulders and behind your back and your heart shaped lips. They were all part your beautiful looks. All of a sudden, it was as if he couldn’t control himself.

Your eyes widened a little as Kai dived in for a kiss. You couldn’t do anything but to look at him in surprise, before you finally closed your eyes and wrapped your arms around his neck, kissing him back. Kai smiled a little as he could feel your lips responding to his own. He wasn’t sure what came over him, and once he realized what he was doing, he got afraid that you would reject him. Kai deepened the kiss as you let your fingers entangle themselves into his soft black hair.

When you broke the kiss, you were both slightly panting for air. You were looking down, too embarrassed to meet his gaze. Kai noticed, and lifted his hand to caress your cheek. You looked up as you felt his touch on your cheek, and smiled at his gesture of affection. Kai smiled back at you before he kissed your forehead and took your hand.

“I remember you telling me you were sleepy?” He said as he walked further into the cave.

Unlike the previous cave that was made all out of solid rock, this cave had a floor made out of soil, covered with leafs. Kai led you further into the cave until you far enough away from the opening to not be hit by the cold night wind. He sat down and leaned back against a boulder that proved to be perfect to rest against. He pulled you down to sit beside him, and so you did.

“Good night Kai.” You said and pecked his lips before you placed your head on his chest and closed your eyes.

“Sweet dreams, Avry.” Kai said and kissed the top of your head as he laid his arm protectively around you and fell asleep.

I think this is the longest chapter I've written so far. I hoped you all liked it and didn't think it was too long.

I really don't feel too confident in writing fluff and romance yet, but I'm improving, and I hope I didn't disappoint you.

I'm going to take a vaccine in first period at school tomorrow. I hate taking vaccines. But I will survive! I've already survived all the ones I've taken so far, though I still get nervous every time... Hopefully I won't get any side effects or anything like that and fall sick.

Love you all ~
