Seohyun

The sky was blue and bright. I could hear chirping of birds playing around near the window by my desk. It was good to finally breathe fresh air again. Yes, I was back at school. I already felt better. I couldn’t express how much I was thankful to everyone that day.

To be honest, I fell ill because there were too many things in my mind. I was known for being a deep thinker, but I also often overthink things too much. There were too many things I couldn’t understand that made my head hurt, especially about this feeling in my chest whenever I think of Yonghwa oppa. These things were new to me. Sometimes it made my stomach fluttered. Sometimes it made me fly. Sometimes it made me feel warm and safe……but other times it was suffocating and made it hard to breathe. Sometimes it made me feel on the edge, as if I could fall any second. And then there was also Jungshin.

“Seohyun-ah…”

I found myself staring at the sky outside the window, completely lost in thoughts.

“Seohyun-ah…” Jungshin called.

A bit startled, I turned to my seatmate. “Ne Jungshin?”

“Are you free after school? Let’s have a coffee with me.” He asked me.

“Uh, um. Ne, I have time, I guess.”

Jungshin had turned unusually thoughtful about me for quite some time. Jessica eonni once told me that from what she’d seen, it looked like that Jungshin actually liked me. I thought that it was impossible. I mean, we’ve been in the same class for almost two years and he had been a good friend. But then I thought about it once again; Yonghwa oppa and I were also good friends.

The bell ring indicated that the recess time had arrived. As usual, I tidied up my desk before setting off to see Yonghwa oppa. Just as I got out of the class, Jungshin called to me.

“Seohyun-ah, I have a short meeting with the band after school, so you just wait for me in the gate for a little bit, okay? I promise it won’t be long,”

“Um, ne. Arasseo...” I answered. I saw him winked at me before he left. Aigo, what was that? So embarrassing.

When I turned my back, I was shocked. I found myself face to face with Yonghwa, Jessica, and Taeyeon. My eyes widened at the shock. Jessica eonni’s face was so red as she put her hand to cover from bursting into laughter. Yonghwa oppa also wore a weird smile. He even raised his eyebrow (omo!). Taeyeon eonni only gave a small chuckle.

Jessica removed her hand and finally bursted. “Puhahaha! What did I tell you Seohyunnie~ you just got better from your sickness and now you’ve got yourself a date! How lucky you are…” She patted my shoulder while trying to stop laughing.

“Hahaha, indeed. I never thought Jungshin would ask you this soon. I mean, I knew that he probably likes you. Congratulations, Seohyunnie~~~” The words came out of Yonghwa oppa’s mouth.

“A…aniiii. It’s not like that! He only asked me to have a coffee with him that’s all! You guys are overreacting,”

“Oppa! Please, not you too. Don’t…” I said in my head.

“Okay, okay,” Jessica barely managed to stop laughing. “Now let’s just go to the cafeteria. I heard they serve goguma today. Come on, Seohyunnie~”

I munched my goguma quietly while the others were busy chatting with each other. I couldn’t help but stare at Yonghwa who was talking to Taeyeon across the table. He seemed happy. It felt relieving to see him smile happily like that. How I wish I could be the reason behind those smiles.

Yonghwa oppa noticed me who was daydreaming while staring at him. “Seohyunnie~ why are you being so quiet? What are you thinking?” He smiled widely. “Is it Jungshin-ah? Hahahaha” he teased.

“Aish…aniya oppa! I…I was just…I just didn’t want to interrupt,”

“Hey, it’s okay Seohyun-ah. If there’s anything you want to talk about, just tell us.” Taeyeon told me. “ah, aren’t you the cutest thing,” she poked my cheek playfully and smiled.

“A…ani…” I lowered my head and continue munching my goguma.

Just then, someone sat down beside Yonghwa oppa.

“Hyung!” Jonghyun called before realizing the others who were there beside Yonghwa oppa. “Ah, annyeonghaseyo yeoreobun,”

“Annyeong…” we answered in unison. I saw Jessica giving a confused look as she was the only one who didn’t know Jonghyun oppa.

“Ya what’s with the ‘hyung’? We’re the same age and I’m only a couple of months older than you,” Yonghwa oppa scolded his seatmate. “It makes me feel old,”

“Hahaha, but it suits you, hyung. Hahahaha,” Jonghyun teased more. “Anyway, I want to ask you something hyung,”

“Stop with the hyung already,” Yonghwa oppa sighed. “Nevermind. So what is it?”

“It’s about our band,” Just as Jonghyun started, Kang Minhyuk, who was from what I heard the drummer in Jonghyun oppa’s band, sat beside Jonghyun. He was also Jessica eonni’s classmate in the second year.

“Annyeonghaseyo,” Minyuk greeted.

“Minhyuk-ah, why are you here too?” Yonghwa asked.

“The same reason Jonghyun hyung is here.”

“Hmm, so what’s with your band?”

“Our vocalist bailed out of the band a couple of days ago,” Jonghyun oppa started. “Now we need someone to replace him. We can’t continue like this until the annual talent show. That’s why we’re here,”

“So? You’re here because….”

Minhyuk and Jonghyun grinned widely. “Because we want you to be our main vocalist,” they said in unison, still grinning.

“Mwo?? Why me?” Yonghwa was surprised.

“Owah, that’s good oppa, don’t you think? You can sing. I heard you sing once and it was nice.” I said to Yonghwa oppa.

“Ani Seohyunnie. That time was horrible. I can’t sing, jinjja.”

“Yonghwa-yah can sing? Ya I want to see you perform too!” Jessica blurted out.

“See hyung? Everyone agrees.” Both Minhyuk and Jonghyun’s grins became wider.

“Ya, jeongmal!” he sighed.

After that we ate peacefully, including Minhyuk and Jonghyun oppa, on our table. And then all of a sudden there were a series of screams and shrieks. We were shocked and thought that something horrible happened until I noticed Jessica and Minhyuk was staring at the same direction with a disappointed look on their faces.

“Not them again,” both of them said and sighed together in unison.

“Who—you guys know them?” Yonghwa oppa asked Jessica and Minhyuk.

“They are transfer students in our class. They came here just a couple of days ago,” Minhyuk explained.

“Those girls are the noisiest and most annoying humans I’ve ever encountered,” Jessica added.

I took another look at the source of the screams. There were three girls standing closely to each other not really far from our table. The middle one was really tall, even taller than me. She had her hair tied to the back. The one on the left was not as tall as the middle one and her skin was a bit darker than the others. Her hair was black, long and straight. The right one was shorter than the two others. She has long, blonde, wavy hair.

“Kyaa~ is that really Jonghyun sunbaenim? He’s so handsome!”

“It’s him! And is that Minhyuk from our class sitting beside him? Kyaa~ they’re so perfect!”

“And who’s that on their table? The guy beside Jonghyun sunbaenim looks so handsome too,”

“Aigo, fangirls.” I thought. Jonghyun oppa and Minhyuk were actually popular because of their band, but Yonghwa oppa wasn't as much...I think.

Jessica suddenly stood up and walked towards the girls.

“Ya! Don’t make a commotion here,” She said to them coldly.

“Oh, look. It’s Jessica from our class. Annyeong!” The one on the left saw Jessica first.

“Hey, wait. Did you just come from the very table of the three most perfect boys in this school?” asked the middle one.

“You know them, Jess? Omo! You have to introduce us to them,” said the right one.

“Ya! I said stop making noises! If you can behave, maybe I’ll consider it.” Jessica turned and went back to our table. I saw the three girls followed behind her.

“Ya! What are you doing?”  Jessica yelled to them again.

“You said you’re going to introduce us to them,” The tall one said innocently with a puppy face.

“I said, I’ll consider it. Seriously, you guys…” Jessica eonni fumed and turned away and continued walking. I couldn’t help but laughed at the scene of the three girls following Jessica eonni like ducklings following their mother.

When Jessica had finally seated, the three girls were awkwardly talking to each other while fixating their gazes at the three boys in our table. There were some small shrieks between each sentence they whispered to each other. I chuckled at the sight and noticed that the three boys were also staring back at them with awkward smiles.

“Uh, annyeonghaseyo,” Jonghyun, being a gentleman that he is, greeted first and waved at them. “I’m Lee Jonghyun. Nice to meet you.” He smiled.

“Omo!” was the only word the three girls managed to say before the tall one fainted for a second and woke straight back up.

“Annyeonghaseyo. Jung Yonghwa-imnida,” Yonghwa oppa followed after.

“A…annyeong…” was the only answer the three girls said in unison before going back to their spasms.

The three girls calmed themselves down. They inhaled and exhaled until they finally cooled down before they opened their mouths.

“Annyeonghaseyo! Kwon Yuri,” said the long straight haired girl.

“Choi Sooyoung,” said the tall one.

“Kim Hyoyeon,” said the blonde one.

“-imnida~” said the three of them in unison with an ear-to-ear grins on their faces.

Annyeong! Another update here. I'm sorry if this one is long and boring .__. because actually it's only showing how Seohyun is doing after that day in the previous chapter and also introducing the new characters. I hope that you're not too disappointed, though .__.v

The next chapter will be narrated by Seohyun again and will be about her "date" with Jungshin ^^ I'll update soon.
