You woke up with a sharp cry, your body jolting in shock at the sudden change in scenery. Cold tears rolled smoothly down your cheeks, leaving you suddenly feeling cold at its icy touch. Finally adjusted to your familiar surroundings, you sighed in resignation and took a shuddery breath. You were too used to the restless nights to even feel anything.

You instantly dropped the idea of going back to sleep (as you knew that it clearly wouldn’t happen), and tiredly dragged yourself to wash. A glimpse in the mirror and you flinched and frowned. You looked like the prime example of a zombie – and it really didn’t help with your mood. You flop onto the closed toilet, pulling your knees close to your body.

Five days since that encounter with what seemed like the card, and not a single meeting with Jiyong, Onew or Taemin. It was bad enough with the constant nightmares that haunted you since that night, but the feeling of being abandoned was, in some respects, even worse.

A small beep from your ancient phone interrupted your train of thoughts. You heaved from the toilet seat and walked towards to where your phone was being charged - or to be more accurate, permanently being charged. The batteries were way too old to last on their own and you weren’t even sure if the phone company still existed…

A text from ‘Mir’ has arrived.

‘Noona, you must have arrived by now, but just in case~ No more nice Mir if you miss this one ;D’

You started and quickly looked at the clock. It was 8:50. The show started at 9:15. Your mouth dropped open.

‘.’

You jumped into a flurry of panicked motions and checked the clock every few seconds in a silent plea for it to stop going so fast. You fell into an irregular sleep pattern in the last few days, but you never realised that it was THIS awkward. You run to the bathroom with a determined look – you give yourself 10 minutes to make yourself look at least human.

------------------

Crazy lights and the heart-thudding beat of the music, physically shaking the glass floor, and the deafening roar of the crowd, their body as one as they moved to the roaring beat, steadily pumped out from the massive speakers situated all around the club.

Mir quickly scanned the huge dance floor, his heart dropping in disappointment as he couldn’t find the one familiar face he’s been looking for the past five shows. He agitatedly ran his hands through his tousled brown hair, earning him a stern warning from one of the team’s dancers (who also served as the team’s stylist). He quickly shook the comment off with a growl and stormed away from the waiting room. Mir shoved his hands into his jean pockets.

He didn’t have the time. This was the last performance. There was an old tradition from his school that on the last show, the main performer was able to make the show personal for him. Mir had stayed up several nights to organise this, and he couldn’t help but feel a little bit of anger towards his sister at the current situation.

------------

You stole a glance at the digital clock on the bus. 9:16.

You bit your lips in panic. You were already late when you weren’t even halfway there. You shift around uncomfortably in your short clingy dress, and try to get used to the pair of heels you haven’t worn since your graduation party. After slapping some make-up on, you gave up with taming your wild hair and pinned it up, praying that it would stay up without hair-spray.

-------------

‘Everyone! Standby – we’re up in 1 minute!’

One of the team shouted from the waiting room. Mir sighed and walked towards the stage, the deafening music and the crowd not pumping him up like it did normally. Noona wasn’t here. He had checked the dance floor every few seconds, and even went as far as going out to the dance floor personally to look for her – but she was missing.

Mir narrowed his eyes.

Noona had -better- turn up in the next few minutes.

-------------

You were worried that the bouncers were going to stop you, but after one embarrassed whisper of ‘Mir’ and ‘Sister’, they instantly let you in, bowing curtly in the process.

You took one look at the raving crowd, blinding lights and the wild array of dancers on stage, and you took a deep breath – and plunged into the madness.

-------------

Mir grasped his neon performance whip and prepared to go in at the signal. Noona still hasn’t made an appearance, and he was beginning to feel more upset than agitated.

He sighed, and seeing the dancer on his left give him a quick nod, he walked in to position, feeling worse as the lights and music completely shut down at his appearance. The crowd roared in the pitch black, waiting for the of the show.

--------------

You gasped as the lights turn off suddenly, leaving only the floor tiles flashing occasionally in random intervals. The crazy music also stopped, replaced with a strong beat from the speakers, pulsating with sheer force of the sound.

Despite your aversion to over–crowded spaces and loud noises, you couldn’t help but feel a little excitement building up as the beat sped up gradually, body on body – everyone as one, adrenaline sky-high.

Everyone screamed as huge flares lit up around the club in one, brilliant moment, blinding everyone – the speakers burst into music as irregular beats replaced the steady ones, and a single neon light cut through the pitch black, the entire club holding its breath as everything turned off once again.

One, two, and three seconds.

The stage lights flashed once, and the crowd went into a mad frenzy as everything burst in full power. Every one of your senses were overwhelmed – but you couldn’t help screaming and joining the crowd in a mass of movement as you felt the adrenaline pump you up. You looked up towards the stage as it flashed again, and-

-----------

-she was there!  Mir couldn’t help but blush slightly at her appearance and frown slightly as he saw the length of her dress. That’s just too short. He made a mental note to himself to tell her not to wear such a short thing outside.

He laughed at her puzzled expression at his glare and threw his neon whip away as the sequence ended. Mir smiled. It was time to sort out a few misunderstandings with his sister-

I’m no longer the little Mir you knew

And…

I'm definitely not the Mir you think I am neither.
