The White Wedding

Night Prince

It was only the third day into their travels and the climate around them had already started to change radically. The temperature had dropped during the previous night and while the Wu’s, their courtmen and their hunters remained unaffected accustomed to the cold, Baekhyun suffered, loudly. His tolerance for the cold was alarmingly low for a vampire, having spent too much of his life in warm places had altered his natural preference in temperature. It took Yifan threatening to throw him out of the carriage to finally silence him. The lord huffed into the collar of his borrowed fur coat at the unpleasant memory, Kyungsoo the traitor had not said anything to defend him and had instead agreed with Yifan in his silence. Truthfully, Baekhyun only stopped complaining because Kyungsoo had looked worn out, the prince had fallen asleep leaving Baekhyun with the option of talking to Yifan. He chose to stare at the passing scenery instead, but after a while of seeing the same white landscape even he got bored. Something darted among the foliage of dead trees catching his attention just as he was about to look away in search of something more appealing; he shot up from his slouching position slightly jostling Kyungsoo who was leaning against him. He shook his head, there was no way, he thought to himself, there was no way that idiot would have followed them. He squinted trying to sharpen his sight-

“Is there something out there?” Yifan asked interest caught by Baekhyun’s unusual reaction, he turned his head to look out of the window. Baekhyun panicked and shot forward apologizing inwardly to Kyungsoo who groaned as he hit the chair when he lost his temporary headrest. Fortunately, Baekhyun’s hasty idea pulled Yifan’s attention away from the window.

“Are you alright?” Yifan shot Baekhyun a glare as he helped Kyungsoo into a sitting position. Kyungsoo rubbed his head nodding at Yifan before turning to shoot Baekhyun a questioning look.

“What happened?” he asked voice groggy,

“Huh? Didn’t you feel it? The carriage lurched, we must have gone over a big rock,” Baekhyun lied perfectly straight-faced,

“It did?”

“It did not,” Yifan hissed fingers twitching in their struggle to stay away from Baekhyun’s neck, his patience could barely handle Baekhyun’s dynamic character. Baekhyun’s eyes narrowed,

“It- yak!” his argument died as a sudden ripple was felt in the air, Minseok was suddenly sitting beside Yifan much to the three vampires’ amazement. He wiped his uncharacteristically sweaty brow letting out a tired huff as he slid the carriage window open. He breathed in the cold air with childlike fervor, releasing a contented sigh as his body welcomed the blistering cold. Once chilled and no longer sweating he turned to the three with a wry grin,

“Sorry for appearing out of nowhere,” he apologized sweeping his fringe away from his forehead, “it was the fastest way to get here. Luhan must be livid,” he said referring to the fact he was a day late to their agreed meeting. Yifan broke out of his stupor,

“He is convinced you’ve left him, I think he’s in our parents’ carriage crying,”

Baekhyun would have laughed if it were not true, Luhan had literally thrown himself into his mother’s arms yesterday when it was clear Minseok would not show up at their agreed meeting place. Minseok grimaced and opened the still moving carriage door making Baekhyun titter in unease, Minseok chuckled at the nervous reaction,

“I’ll see you all later,” he told them before leaping out ignoring Baekhyun and Kyungsoo’s alarmed cries, the door slammed behind him. Yifan held an arm out keeping the two younger vampires in their seats,

“Minseok has done stupider things, he’ll be fine,” he said. Judging by the elated cries that followed Minseok had successfully made his way back to Luhan.

“How much longer?” Baekhyun asked once again bored,

“A day the least, three at most,” Yifan answered flatly, Baekhyun groaned,

“Great,” he looked out the window once again, inconspicuously searching. After a few minute of spotting nothing, he allowed himself to relax. There was no way Chanyeol would follow them to the Wu Kingdom, unless he was a total idiot. Baekhyun began to fret again at the uncomforting thought because he knew Chanyeol was first and foremost, an idiot.

“Do not worry Baekhyun,” Kyungsoo said mistaking Baekhyun’s sudden silence for nerves, “the days will go by faster than you think, you’ll like the Wu Kingdom. It’s absolutely majestic and you’ll fit right in, as you always do,” Baekhyun smiled gently at Kyungsoo’s caring nature, eyes darting to Yifan who was looking out of the window seemingly occupied by his own thoughts.

“I have no doubt it is, Kyungsoo,” he replied softly, trying to keep the conversation between the two of them, “But know that I follow only to accompany you, I care naught of fitting in,”

Kyungsoo lowered his eyes as he smiled, heartened by Baekhyun’s sincerity. Yifan was staring at the two now, brows in their usual frown and eyes unreadable. Baekhyun did not look smug as he usually did, the lord tried to put on a passive front but the slight frenzy in his eyes gave him away. Yifan turned his attention to the scenery once more, he made a mental note to keep a close eye on Baekhyun.

They had a day and a half left of travels when Minseok came by with a merry Luhan, unheeding to Yifan’s protests that the carriage was too crowded. Luhan had simply shrugged before throwing Yifan out telling him to ride with his hunters. The crown prince had cast a quick look at Kyungsoo and seemed as if he wanted to argue but then left without a word to their surprise, probably too annoyed to deal with any of them. Luhan made himself comfortable in the carriage before turning to Kyungsoo eyes twinkling with joy,

“By tomorrow night my little brother will be married,” his smile turned bittersweet, “I know you will make him happy, I can finally be at ease.”

Kyungsoo’s smile was dim in comparison,

“I will try my best,” he replied weakly, nervous now at everyone’s high expectations for him. Minseok smiled at him kindly once again amazingly perceptive.

“You need not try hard, Kyungsoo. Just be yourself,”

Luhan nodded slowly in agreement,

“All Yifan wants is someone who’ll stay,” he said softly, there was something akin to regret in his eyes. Kyungsoo could guess why it was there.

“You make him sound simple,” Baekhyun commented a hint of disbelief in his tone, he was still not comfortable with the thought of Yifan being capable of being more than just a soulless hunter. Luhan and Minseok frowned simultaneously, protectively, Kyungsoo noted.

“He is unjustly misunderstood, all this hatred that he receives-” Luhan paused suddenly looking distraught, his eyes seemed to flash in the darkness of the cabin. Baekhyun and Kyungsoo exchanged incredulous looks not sure if their eyes were playing tricks on them, Luhan was starting to tremble. The air seemed to thin around them,  “is because of me, my leaving made him-“

“Luhan,” Minseok cut in noticing Kyungsoo and Baekhyun’s uneasiness at the sudden wildness in Luhan’s eyes, he placed his hand on Luhan leg stilling it of its incessant shaking. His other hand came up to rest on Luhan’s nape rubbing it gently, “why don’t you go talk to Yixing, he was asking if he could stay over after the wedding for a few weeks-“

“What?” Luhan blinked rapidly, eyes resuming their usual dark colour as he pouted with the news, “but I want to be alone- with you...”

“I am aware of that, so why don’t you go and talk him out of it. Be subtle, you don’t want to hurt his feelings.”

Luhan nodded totally steered away from his previous mood, he gave Minseok’s hand a quick squeeze before leaving. Baekhyun let out a relieved sigh wiping away the cumulating sweat from his forehead. He hated sweating above all things, especially since it was only possible for them to break out into a cold sweat. He did not need to be any colder in this weather.

“Why in the world did I feel threatened?” he let out a weak chuckle, “for a moment there he looked like a Were you know-“ he laughed boisterously at the absurd thought only to fall silent when the other two did not join in, Kyungsoo was staring at Minseok silently. Baekhyun shook his head, “You have got to be kidding-“

“I’m only saying this because I trust you two and I want you to be safe,” Minseok said cutting Baekhyun off, for the first time the warlock looked unsure, “Luhan, is not as he seems. There is a reason we rarely go back to the court, a reason why Luhan has not tried to mend his relationship with Yifan-“ he broke off eyes suddenly shiny, hesitant to continue.

“Is this reason why you live in the forbidden lands?” Kyungsoo questioned carefully somewhat getting what Minseok was trying to tell them, Minseok nodded slowly.

“Everyone thinks it is I that the ferals fear, this is only true to a certain degree,” Minseok’s voice dropped to a whisper, “What they fear the most is Luhan, of what he can become.”

A chill fell over the cabin, Baekhyun’s eyes widened,

“Are you safe? Is Luhan hurting you and using-“ Baekhyun gestured at the symbol along Minseok’s arm, “that to keep you with him?” Minseok covered his arm self-consciously, eyes filled with surprise.

“Yifan told you?” Baekhyun’s brows furrowed,

“That’s not important,” he answered as Kyungsoo nodded in agreement, “is he keeping you against your will?”

“I am afraid you two have misunderstood,” Minseok said tone unhappy, “this is not a cry for help, I’m only telling you this to keep you safe- just in case he ever turns when I am not around-“ Baekhyun let out a nervous giggle,

“A pureblooded vampire that is a Were, he would be invincible-“ a look of horror made its way to his face, “he is invincible,” he laughed again a mesh of nerves and terror, Kyungsoo casted him a concerned look before turning back to Minseok.

“Are you safe though?” he asked worried for the other, Minseok’s eyes were sad as he looked at them.

“Luhan would never hurt me. Be he vampire, Were or Prince, he is still Luhan-“ Minseok lowered his eyes, “The only monster here is me,”

“Don’t say that,” Kyungsoo felt his chest tighten, the symbols around Minseok’s arms danced wildly affected by their master’s turbulent emotions.

“If I had never stepped into the Wu Court, Luhan would be fine and Yifan would have been happy- Luhan wouldn’t have to struggle every month trying to keep himself from transforming, he wouldn’t have to plaster a smile on his face to assure me that he’s fine when all he feels are his insides being torn apart from the unnatural transformation. If he didn’t know me he wouldn’t have tried to protect me-“

“Minseok,” Kyungsoo voice was soft, a tear slid down Minseok’s cheek as he stopped speaking. It crystalized a second later before shattering into tiny pieces, leaving no traces on its owner’s cheeks.

“I’ve only known you for a few days, but I’d be blind if I couldn’t see how much you two love each other. You two were fated for each other, no one can deny that,” Kyungsoo paused trying to put his thoughts into proper words, “It may sound wrong, but I’m thankful that Luhan abdicated his position in line for you, if he had not than I would have never been betrothed to Yifan.” The carriage was silent, Minseok would not look up from his lap,

“Do you regret meeting Luhan,” Kyungsoo asked finally hand coming up to trace the scar on his collarbone subconsciously, Minseok’s eyes flew up to meet his in shock,

“Of course not, never,” Kyungsoo smiled at Minseok’s adamant declaration, “he is the best thing that has ever happened to me… I- I live for him,” Minseok sat up straight every trace of insecurity gone from him, his eyes were filled with determination. He glanced at his arm tracing the obedience spell he tattooed onto himself,

“I can cure him,” he whispered more to himself than to them, “other things will have to wait-“

Kyungsoo and Baekhyun traded looks again silently communicating, Minseok was hiding something. The warlock looked up at them,

“Yifan must not know about this! Not yet,” the two nodded, Baekhyun yelping when the door opened admitting and upside down Luhan who peered inside from his perch above the carriage.

“Minseok, Yixing said he wasn’t planning on staying over,” he relayed confused, he eyed his husband suspiciously. Baekhyun and Kyungsoo were quiet, still slightly threatened by the unassuming air Luhan managed to hold up despite what he was. The former pretty and soft image of the prince that they had of him was shattered beyond repair. Minseok smiled patting the seat beside him,

“He must have forgotten,” Luhan flipped forward agilely into the seat shutting the door behind him, he studied Minseok’s face intently for a few seconds,

“Have you been crying?” he asked making the other two vampires tense up at his sharpness, Minseok laughed,

“Why would you say such a thing?”

“It smells like you’ve cried,”

“What nonsense,” his tone was affectionate, eyes soft as he gazed at Luhan, “when have I ever cried?”

Luhan looked unconvinced but let the topic drop as Minseok slipped a hand into his, shuffling closer to rest his head on Luhan’s shoulder. Luhan the top of his head, expression tender as Minseok allowed himself to be pampered.

“You’re tired,” he observed keeping his voice low, Minseok nodded, “then sleep, I’ll keep a look out for Ferals and wake you if I sense any,” the corners of Minseok’s lips lifted.

“Liar,” he murmured, Luhan smiled.

“I can handle them,” his eyes lifted to Kyungsoo and Baekhyun knowingly, they reeled back in fear, “I’ll protect you,” Minseok made a noise of contentment before falling asleep, lulled by his husband’s comforting presence.

-

It was silent as Minseok slept, Luhan finally let out a chuckle as the sun was setting.

“It’s okay to speak, I won’t kill you-“ he readjusted Minseok so that his head rested on his lap, then took off his coat to cover the warlock’s upper body grinning when Minseok grumbled in his sleep about the heat. His smile faded,  “did he tell you where he was for the past few days?” he asked eyes studying Minseok’s face intently. The other two shook their heads quickly, Luhan sighed unhappily,

“It’s true, we know nothing!” Baekhyun squeaked shuffling away, “don’t hurt us!”

Kyungsoo nudged him sharply forcing him to shut up,

“Why would I hurt family? I-I can control it,” the look on his face said otherwise, “and if there is a day that comes when I can’t-“ his grip around Minseok tightened, “Minseok will deal with me.”

The air in the carriage chilled over as the weight of Luhan’s words settled in the other twos’ minds.

“You cannot be serious… have you commanded Minseok to kill you if you lose control?” Kyungsoo whispered in disbelief, Luhan looked taken aback.

“You know? Yifan has told you of our past?” Kyungsoo hesitantly nodded, slightly fearful of how Luhan might react.

“I am glad,” Luhan smiled gently, “That he trusts you enough to confide in, you must know that it is an honor to earn Yifan’s trust. To answer your question, yes, I have commanded Minseok to stop me. By using any means possible, if I lose control.” He Minseok’s cheek, eyes b with sorrow.

Kyungsoo and Baekhyun were speechless at the revelation; Minseok’s earlier worry in finding a cure seemed to make sense to them now. Luhan shifted in his seat, uncomfortable at the heavy atmosphere he had created.

“Enough of this serious talk! I want you to forget all of this, today is an important day. Today will mark your new life Kyungsoo, you need not worry about Minseok and I, we will be able to look after each other. In return I entrust my brother to you Kyungsoo in hopes that you will bring him the happiness and the freedom he longs for.”

“Can I?” Kyungsoo said finally voicing out his worry, the significant growth in their relationship over the past months did nothing to comfort him. Yifan could be warm one minute and distant in the next. Baekhyun held his hand squeezing it reassuringly,

“You can,” he held Kyungsoo’s gaze, “if anyone can do it, it’s you,”

Luhan nodded in agreement.

-

Kyungsoo and Baekhyun were forced onto the carriage’s roof, only to see the rest of their entourage doing the same thing. The snow fell around them in a flurry as they approached the high gates of the Wu kingdom, everyone was in seemingly high spirits even Yifan supported a small smile as he settled down beside Kyungsoo. Minseok, back in his mask, was speaking to King Wu hands gesturing excitedly towards their direction. The King was smiling as he nodded his consent to whatever Minseok was asking, Minseok grinned and urged his horse forward to lead the group. Yixing and Luhan closely flanked his side,

“What’s going on?” Baekhyun asked noting the abnormality, Tao grinned,

“A present,”

“A present?”

The main gates rose up to admit the first riders, deafening cheers greeted them as crowds flanked the streets leading to the castle. Kyungsoo was taken back at the sheer number of people that gathered for their arrival despite the cold. The variety of eye colors that greeted him added to his surprise, he had though that the Wu Kingdom was only made up of vampires but it was clear by the lack of crimson eyes among the crowd that this was not true. The look of adoration and wonder was widespread among their faces and Kyungsoo felt his stomach drop at the fact that one day he could be the reason for that look to morph into disappointment.

“Smile-“ Kyungsoo jumped at Yifan’s low voice, the prince wasn’t looking at him but at his people. His face was now void of emotion but his eyes held a certain degree of warmness, “they are here to see you,”

Kyungsoo smiled gathering his courage before leaning forward to press a quick kiss against Yifan’s cold cheek, a stray whoop rose from the crowd as Yifan’s eyes widened. More cheers erupted as Baekhyun and Tao started to laugh when Yifan ducked his head clearly embarrassed at the public display of affection. His people cheered louder at the unusual display of emotions from their crown prince, Kyungsoo’s smile widened as Yifan shot a glare at Tao. The hunter stifled his laugh bowing his head in an apologetic matter Yifan knew was more for show than anything else.

The crowd fell silent suddenly making Kyungsoo tense up in fear, but he relaxed when he saw everyone was looking up in wonder. The snow had stopped falling and the previously looming grey skies were clearing up allowing golden rays of sunlight to reach the frozen grounds of the Wu Kingdom. The remaining snowflakes fluttered overhead settling down softly as they reached the ground. Kyungsoo broke into a grin as he felt the warmth spread across his chilled skin almost lovingly, knowing everyone else felt it too on a varying degree. The moment was ethereal casting a silence over the area, enchanting all who experienced it.

Luhan had a hand placed on Minseok’s lower back protectively, the warlock was smiling at the awed people but it was a faint one. He looked back at Kyungsoo lowering his head in respect, his blue irises were almost white in the sunlight. Kyungsoo knew it was currently winter in the Wu Court, the amount of energy Minseok was using to keep the snow at bay was probably dangerous.

“Does it hurt him?” Kyungsoo asked concerned, the great castle’s gates being lifted drowned out any answers the hunters had for him. More people greeted them from the courtyard, some Kyungsoo noted with delight, he knew. As soon as the carriages stopped Kyungsoo was off, running into the outstretched arms of a tall man.

“Uncle!” he breathed in the comforting scent as the man chuckled, patting his head fondly.

“My how you’ve grown, let me see you properly,” Kyungsoo pulled away at the comment, his uncle still looked the same after all the years passed. Kyungsoo pouted slightly,

“Where have you been?” he asked slightly upset that his uncle had only appeared today, his uncle smiled mentioning for someone to come forward. Kyungsoo’s eyes widened.

“Changmin hyung!” the warlock smiled already braced for Kyungsoo’s tackle, “you’ve come back!” the last time Kyungsoo had seen him was a month after his mother’s funeral, the warlock had disappeared after a not so private quarrel with his uncle.

“Are you staying for good?” he asked, his uncle placed a hand on his shoulder pulling him off Changmin,

“He is,” he answered on Changmin’s behalf, Kyungsoo frowned at the weird atmosphere surrounding them. There was something different about the two, but before he could question it they were ambushed by the others.

“Yunho!”

“Uncle!”

Yunho turned with a smile, greeting his brother in law and other nephew.

“Everything is falling into place,” Kyungsoo raised an inquisitive brow at Changmin’s statement, the elder had always been confusing with his words. His uncle had said it had something to do with him being a warlock, but Kyungsoo had never seen the link and had given up trying to understand his hyung’s cryptic words.

“So where’s the lucky man?” he asked as his uncle rejoined them. Kyungsoo mentioned for Yifan to approach them, regretting it when he suddenly felt dwarfed amongst the three tall men. Yunho’s eyes narrowed on Yifan calculatingly, despite his good nature he was the most critical amongst Kyungsoo’s family members.

“You’d better take good care of my nephew,” he threatened, Yifan nodded non-pulsed by the warning.

“Of course,” he answered, “it is my duty-“

Kyungsoo blinked at the word not knowing Changmin was watching him carefully.

“So very unaffectionate,” he commented quietly with a quirk of a brow catching Kyungsoo’s attention, the younger raised his own brow at the warlock’s comment, “is it a trend for you vampires to keep your emotion in check?” Changmin glanced at Yunho tellingly before turning his attention else where, the corners of his lips lifted in a wry grin.

“That one doesn't seem to suffer from the same problem,” he continued referring to Luhan who was fussing over Minseok manhandling him off his horse. Kyungsoo frowned at Changmin’s words, knowing just how true they were. Yifan although never rejecting Kyungsoo’s advances seemed to shy away from him especially in the company of others. He was never the one initiating any contact either, Kyungsoo’s eyes flickered to Yifan uneasily. A hand caressing his cheek dragged his attention away, Changmin smile was caring,

“I’ve made you question things, haven’t I?” Kyungsoo withheld a shiver, why were warlocks so perceptive? It unsettled him, Changmin’s smile grew as if knowing what he was thinking, “You have nothing to worry about,” he continued releasing Kyungsoo’s cheek to face Yunho and Yifan, both whom had fallen silent and were looking at them curiously. Yifan’s brows were furrowed again, Yunho cleared his throat trying to clear the sudden tension in the air.

“Yifan, let me introduce you to Changmin. He is like family, but unfortunately he’s stubborn and has rubbed the trait off on Kyungsoo-”

Changmin waved his hand shutting Yunho up as a flash of light blinded the older, Yunho cried out blinking rapidly trying regain his sight.

“He’s vengeful as well,” he continued with a glare that Changmin shrugged off.

“Come,” Changmin said turning to Kyungsoo blatantly ignoring Yunho, “It’s time to get you ready.”

-

Kyungsoo stood in the doorway trying to calm his nerves, he would walk down the aisle alone.

“It’s your first step towards your new future,” his father had told him gently hours before as they spent their last moments together. His eyes had strayed to Kyungsoo’s crown a small smile gracing his lips as he ran a finger along it gently. No words had to be said, Kyungsoo knew his father was thinking of the late queen, knew that he wanted her there. Kyungsoo’s eyes prickled with tears,

“She’s here, there’s no way she would miss this,” his father said brushing a stray tear away from Kyungsoo’s cheek,

“Do you really believe that?” he whispered familiar of the humans’ notion of an afterlife, his father nodded eyes shiny.

“With all my heart-“ they both grinned at the irony.

The memory helped calm Kyungsoo, he adjusted the midnight black cape around his shoulders. Baekhyun would never let him hear the end of it if he let the satin fall wrongly. He cleared his throat turning to the closed doors, squaring his shoulders as he did so. He nodded at the guard manning the door, he was ready.

The doors opened and every head turned simultaneously at the sound, Kyungsoo took a step forward onto the moonlight lit aisle. He knew the moonlight was good to him by the reaction of the guests, none whom could have looked away from his moonlit figure as he walked down the aisle, even if they tried. He kept his gaze forward, focused on his uncle who stood at the end of the aisle as the officiator. He only allowed himself to break their gaze once he reached the end of the aisle and felt fingers wrap around his arm, Yifan had joined his side joining him to stand in front of his uncle. Yunho nodded clearing his throat,

“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in the company of family and friends, to join together these two,” Yunho paused brows furrowing as he stared at the paper in front of him, he lifted his gaze to Changmin in the front row. The warlock merely smirked in response.

“Men,” he continued grudgingly, “in holy Matrimony; one which is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, and soberly. Into this holy estate these two persons present come now to be joined. If any man can give good reason as to why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him speak now, or else hereafter forever hold his peace.”

Yunho looked around expectantly making Yifan’s brows furrow, Kyungsoo’s uncle looked almost disappointed at the lack of objection. Yifan cleared his throat prompting the elder to continue which he thankfully complied to as snow started to gently fall around them. He turned his attention to the two princes gesturing for them to face each other.

“Wu Yifan, Crown Prince of the Wu Kingdom and heir to all the Hibernis lands, will you have this man to be your wedded husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honour, and keep him in sickness-“ his smooth voice gave a barely noticeable waver, Kyungsoo lowered his head, “and in health; and, forsaking all others, keep yourself by him, so long as you both shall live?”

Yifan reached out for Kyungsoo’s face thumb brushing against his cheek where a stray snowflake had landed, he smiled slightly as he leaned forward to press his lips against Kyungsoo’s. He pulled back from the stunned Kyungsoo,

“I do,” he whispered breathless. Kyungsoo couldn't look away from Yifan’s smile, Yunho fought the urge to roll his eyes.

“You skipped a few steps,” he grumbled eliciting chuckles from the guests, the corners of his lips lifted in return.

“Do Kyungsoo, Beloved Prince of the Do Kingdom and heir to all the Sylva lands,” Kyungsoo’s eyes widened slightly darting to his grinning father and brother, was this the gift they were talking about? He shook the shock off returning his gaze to Yifan who still had that smile on his face. Kyungsoo felt his throat clench at the foreign tenderness it held.

“Will you have this man to be your wedded husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honour, and keep him in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, keep yourself by him, so long as you both shall live?”

Kyungsoo felt the weird fluttering settle in his stomach again and afraid his voice would tremble if he spoke, he nodded.

“You have to agree verbally,” his uncle tried to whisper only to fail and bring out more laughs from the guests, Seungsoo and his wife exchanged a look thankful that Yunho didn't officiate their wedding.

“I do,” Kyungsoo whispered. Yunho reached out for their hands, joining them together to exchange their vows. Yifan’s smile dimmed, expression turning serious as he gripped Kyungsoo’s hands in his.

“I promise you will never live a day in fear, I will care and defend you with my whole being. I promise you will never get hurt under my protection, I will be your strength and the pillar which supports you,” he held onto Kyungsoo’s shy gaze, “I swear to be faithful to the most beautiful flower in this black garden,”

Kyungsoo almost swooned along with the girls in the fourth row, “I am yours,” Yifan whispered, Kyungsoo lowered his eyes touched at the sincerity in Yifan’s voice, “Forever.”

Yifan’s vows had taken him by surprise, he had not suspected the other to bare himself to everyone like this. He braved himself, if Yifan could do it so could he. He met Yifan’s eyes smiling slightly.

“I promise you will never experience another day in loneliness, I will not only be your husband, I will be your friend and companion. I promise to listen and support you in every decision that you make. To stay by your side and fill your days with warmth,” Yifan’s grip on his hand tightened, “I promise to try my best to make you smile and make you happy. I promise to commit myself to you and,” Kyungsoo paused as his voice trembled, “and love you forever.”

It was quiet, their guest had clearly not expected Kyungsoo’s last vow. Yifan covered his surprise quickly turning to Yunho to continue and save them from the embarrassment of the intimate vows they had made in front of everyone.

Yunho held out their rings,

Yifan took the smaller ring,

“With this ring,” he said holding tightly onto Kyungsoo’s left hand, “I thee wed,” he slipped the ring onto Kyungsoo’s finger. Kyungsoo repeated the action only lowering their hands in order to link their fingers together as they turned to face Yunho.

“Through their words and vows today, the princes have joined together in wedlock. And before these witnesses have pledged their love and commitment to each other, I now pronounce you husband,” he smiled at Kyungsoo knowing his nephew didn't even realize the wide smile across his own face, “and husband.” He eyed Yifan with slight disdain,

“Since you kissed Kyungsoo earlier,” he commented, “you needn’t do so now,”

Yifan ignored the elder drawing Kyungsoo to him for another kiss, he grinned as Yunho let out a disgruntled sound. He pulled away as the guests started to cheer, Kyungsoo moved to hide behind Yifan earlier bravery leaving him. Yifan couldn't stop his grin as he pulled Kyungsoo back to stand beside his side,

“Stand by me and lift your head,” he whispered lowering his head to Kyungsoo’s ear, “husband.”
