The Roses In Her Bedroom

Sulli could not believe how tired she was feeling until she rested her body on her bed. She must have been walking too much because her calf and the sole of her feet were aching in protest but she was too tired to sit up and massage them. It was just that the project was at its critical part which was the implementation stage. Tomorrow the first sample prototypes will be revealed and there were a lot of things riding on the success of tomorrow’s presentation.

She looked over to the vase with a bunch of lovely red roses on her vanity; their long stalks soaking in the water. The scent from them subtly perfuming her bedroom and she smiled slowly as she recalled what happened today. Her stress and aches slowly ebbing away as the memories washed over her.

Later that day in CC Corp.

Everybody in the team was running around with endless errands to complete before the day was over. It was by Minho’s orders that everything must be ready for the presentation before 7 pm. He wanted everything wrapped up with no loose ends and nobody was allowed to stay back. He wanted the team well rested and ready for anything tomorrow because beside the usual collection of board members; the president and the head of the international division will also be attending the presentation. It seemed that the new skincare line was something that everybody was interested in.

At 6.30pm, the whole team gathered for a presentation dry run at Minho’s office. Everybody was anxious and nervous while going through the presentation but luckily after only a few minor tweaking the presentation was completed.

“Well done, team. I think the presentation is complete and hopefully tomorrow will be a good day for us” Minho said looking at everybody.

Then, he broke into a smile and said, “Now … go back and rest. I want everybody to be fresh and ready to go for tomorrow”.

There were several Yes, sir! and OK, boss! from the members before they started to flow out of the room.  Sulli was gathering her files when she heard Minho calling her in that deep voice of his, halting her action.

“Sulli”

“Yes” she looked at him with a smile on her tired face.

“Can I send you back today?”

Sulli bit her lower lip thinking about what to answer. He had asked her several times already in the past couple of months but she would politely decline. It was not that she hated him but it was the opposite; she realized that she may like him too much. After Saipan, everytime she was close to him he made her heart all fluttery and giddy. She caught herself stealing glances at him during meetings or closing her eyes at the smell of him; a heady mixture of perfume and his own unique scent, when he was near. He was driving her crazy and he was interrupting her focus on the project.  Plus, she heard that Uee from Marketing also liked him and others too. It could turn to be a complicated thing and she hated complicated relationships. She had enough of that in her own family history. So, she decided to create a space between Minho and her. It help
