Stay.

You're Taken?

Jongdae sat across the table from Suho, and he couldn’t help but be frustrated with himself. Here he was, with a very attractive boy that liked boys who was thoroughly single, who seemed to actually like him. Joonmyun was nice and smart, the kind of guy your parents would want you to bring home. He still couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t in-love with the damn guy; though he had an idea of someone who definitely would be.

The two had finished their meal, and with much opposition from Jongdae, Joonmyun had still managed to pay the bill.

“You paid last time!” Jongdae had said, playfully hitting him. Suho had replied saying it was his pleasure and had left it at that.

They hadn’t gotten dessert, deciding to instead get ice cream at a place that Joonmyun frequented. Jongdae swore he would pay, and Joonmyun just laughed.

The comfortable silence they were walking in was disrupted when Jongdae’s message tone went off. He gave Joonmyun the look asking if he was allowed to check it, and the other male laughed. “I don’t care,” he said, smiling. “It could be something important,”

Jongdae pulled out his phone. As he read the message his face paled, grip on the phone tightening.

“Jongdae, are you alright?”

The message he’d received had been a curveball, and now Jongdae didn’t know what to do. He was on a date but he couldn’t leave Minseok alone like this and Luhan was over at Sehun’s doing God knows what. He couldn’t leave, but he couldn’t stay either. Jongdae was having an internal war, and his heart was beating out of his chest.

Joonmyun noticed his sudden mood change, and gently put a hand on his shoulder.

“I- uh- my friend- uh-“

“Go,” Joonmyun said, looking into his eyes with earnest.

“But I’m out with you - and that’s really rude and I-”

“It’s Minseok, isn’t it?”

Jongdae slowly nodded.

“You like him, don’t you?”

Jongdae nodded again, eyes cast on the floor. He felt awful, and he couldn’t bring himself to look up at Suho. He felt a hand lifting his chin, and suddenly soft lips on his cheek. Joonmyun was looking into his eyes, and he smiled softly. “Then go do what you have to do,”

“But-“

“I didn’t just figure it out, Jongdae, I figured it out when I met you. I had a lot of fun these past dates, so let’s stay friends, okay?”

Jongdae finally locked eyes with Suho and smiled. This guy really was perfect, and he felt like he knew the perfect guy for him. “I’d love that,” Jongdae said.

“Now you go get him!” Joonmyun said, fist-pumping the air.

Jongdae began to run down the sidewalk, but not before calling out. “I know the perfect guy for you, Joonmyun. Just you wait!”

Joonmyun laughed, smile not fading. He couldn’t help but feel a tad excited.

. . .

Their pants were loud as Luhan and Sehun pulled apart, and he let out a moan as Sehun his collarbone, trailing his hands over the expanse of skin and muscle under his shirt. It fascinated him, how Sehun had managed to memorise every sensitive section in his body, how Sehun worshipped his body like it was the most important thing in the world. He guessed it was the same for him too, though, as Luhan knew every place to touch to make Sehun go crazy.

In his ecstasy, he would have missed his phone go off in his pocket, had it not been on vibrate. He untangled a hand from Sehun’s hair as he reached to his back pocket, at the same time hearing Sehun’s phone go off on the table.

“Leave it,” his boyfriend mumbled against his skin, and with such skill Luhan knew only came with plenty of practice.

“I didn’t say you had to stop,” Luhan practically moaned as Sehun reached a particularly sensitive spot. The phone sat forgotten for a few moments as Sehun worked up and down his body, but when Luhan noticed that Sehun’s hands were trailing down closer to the waistband of his jeans, he quickly grabbed his phone and checked the message before he’d get too distracted again.

His body stiffened completely, and it wasn’t missed by Sehun. “What’s up babe?” he asked, up Luhan’s neck as he sat upright.

“Minseok and Mihyun are over,”

“That’s good isn’t it? He deserves better than her,”

“But Sehun...”

Sehun’s face turned serious, and he detached him mouth from Luhan’s body. Luhan turned the phone towards him, and Sehun read the message.

From: Minseok
I’m done with Mihyun, she was cheating on me.
I just really need someone to talk to.

“I want to say I can’t believe it, but I definitely can,” Sehun muttered, standing up and pulling Luhan with him. “Let’s go,”

Luhan was just about to nod in agreement when his phone rung. He answered before seeing the caller ID, only thinking of one person who it could be. “Minseok!” he said, “Where are you? I’m coming to get you right now wait until I get my hands on her I’m going to her up so har-“

“Luhan, it’s Jongdae. I’m going to get him right now, so don’t worry.”

“Jongdae?” Luhan was surprised to say the least, “Aren’t you out with Joonmyun? We’ll go get hi-“

“Lu, it’s useless,” Jongdae sighed. “He knew anyway. I’m going and I’ll take Minseok to my house, so meet us there.”

Luhan’s heart dropped. “Alright, I’ll see you.”

“Yeah,” Jongdae said, ending the call.

He was running towards his car… There was one more call that he had to make.

“Minseok?”

“Yeah?” he heard a soft voice reply, followed by sniffles.

“Where are you?” Jongdae asked, his voice almost demanding.

“I’m at the park opposite Mihyun’s…”

“I’ll be there in five, wait for me okay?”

A meek yes was heard, before he hung up. He could finally see his car, and he jumped in before almost speeding towards where Minseok was.

. . .

Minseok felt the slightest tap on his shoulder, accompanied by a soft call of his name. He lifted his head from his arms, and he hadn’t even realised that the one who had called had been Jongdae, not Luhan.

“J-Jongdae?” he asked, almost uncertain.

“It’s okay; I’m here for you,” Jongdae sat down next to him, before wrapping an arm around his waist and pulling him so his head was on his shoulder. The sound of Minseok crying continued to fill the air, and Jongdae lovingly and soothingly ran his fingers through his hair.

“I can’t believe she did that,” Minseok said between sniffles.

“Neither can I,” Jongdae replied, voice still soft.

“But do you know what the funny thing is? The funny thing is that she thought I was cheating on her. I would never ing do that. I’m not even that upset that it’s all over, I’m just upset that she would do that to me. I trusted her, and then I find her ing with someone else. That’s not right, and it hurts. It really hurts.”

“She didn’t deserve you, hyung,”

“I wish I’d realised that earlier.”

Minseok had seemingly calmed down, and Jongdae decided it was probably best that they go. Minseok didn’t seem to have the energy to walk, so like Minseok had done a few weeks prior, Jongdae gestured for him to get on his back. Minseok started to object, but Jongdae shut him up before he could finish. Carrying him to the car, he placed him down on the passenger’s seat before going to his own. With one hand on the wheel and the other entwined with Minseok’s, Jongdae drove them back to his house.

Once they reached the path, Minseok finally had function of his legs. Their hands found their way back to each other, however, and stayed fastened during the elevator ride, as if Minseok was afraid to lose anyone else or even a sense of comfort. As soon as they reached the door, they were met by a whole bunch of concerned faces and an extremely worried looking Luhan.

“Minseok! Are you alright what the would she do that for I’m going to her up and put her in a box and-“

Minseok smiled weakly, shaking his head. “It’s fine, Luhan. I just really want to go to sleep.”

Luhan looked at him worriedly, before looking at Jongdae, who simply mouthed back it’s alright, I’ve got him. Luhan nodded, and watched as the two walked off to Jongdae’s room.

It was quiet, but in no way awkward - Jongdae could never pinpoint a time where they had been awkward silences, and he smiled to himself at the thought. He rummaged through his drawers and pulled out a shirt and some shorts for Minseok to wear, before passing them to him and turning to find something more comfortable for himself. Though it was normal for them to share a bed, he felt that tonight Minseok might be more comfortable on his own, so he didn’t plan on coming back in here and disturbing Minseok’s sleep.

He got dressed as Minseok crawled into bed, and went over to where he was laying. He gave him a hug, saying good night and going to leave the room.

“Stay,” Minseok said. It was so softly said that he may have just heard it, but Minseok’s face told him otherwise.

“I – are you sure?”

“Please,” Minseok pleaded, voice cracking. “I know it might be selfish, and I know it’s early, but please - stay,”

Jongdae didn’t need to be told again, as he shut the door and turned off the lights, before crawling into bed. Minseok turned around to face him, and clung on to his waist like a koala as he nestled his head against Jongdae’s chest. Jongdae could feel his heart going crazy, and as he wrapped his arms around the older boy, he prayed to God that he couldn’t hear it.

“Thanks,” Minseok muttered softly into his chest, nuzzling slightly and making Jongdae’s heart beat even faster.

“I’m always here for you, don’t apologise,” Jongdae replied, chin resting in Minseok’s hair.

Wrapped up in each other, it wasn’t long until the two both fell asleep.

. . .

Minseok woke up, still clinging to Jongdae as he had been the night before. He could feel the gradual rise and fall of Jongdae’s chest as he breathed in and out, and felt a warm feeling fizzle up inside.

He and Mihyun were over, and he didn’t feel nearly as upset as he should have been. Maybe because things had been bumpy for them for a while, or maybe because it took all the stress she’d caused off his shoulders, he felt a lot lighter. The only thing he was upset about was the fact that she had cheated on him. If she was upset, she should have talked to him or broke it off.

It also meant that he could spend a lot more time with people that Mihyun hadn’t liked; mainly being Tao, Kris and Jongdae. He was used to seeing Jongdae most days at university, but they could barely hang out. Now there was no Mihyun to stop him having a social life. Obviously a lot depended on Jongdae’s schedule with Suho, but he knew he was a lot nicer than Mihyun.

In true fact, Minseok knew that Joonmyun was the perfect guy for Jongdae, so he couldn’t figure out why he didn’t like the concept of those two dating.

Maybe it was this feeling that he felt whenever he saw Jongdae’s face, or even thought of him. Maybe it was that little elated feeling that he had been pushing down because he knew that it should be reserved for Mihyun. Maybe, just maybe he was beginning to think that he had feelings for Jongdae, but now he knew that he couldn’t act on anything even if he was right because Suho was in the question and Jongdae won’t have been interested anyway.

He didn’t even know for sure if what he was feeling for Jongdae was attraction, or just the fact that he missed him. He couldn’t be sure whether it was friendship or whether it was something more, but that’d sort itself out eventually. All he knew now was that he was really, really happy and secure in Jongdae’s arms.

Smiling, he closed his eyes and snuggled back into Jongdae’s chest, falling asleep once again.
