Chapter 35

Several hours later the girls loaded their luggage into the car and one of the staff was kind enough to take one last picture of the four of them outside the hotel.

Melody’s alarm on her phone went off when she was standing by the trunk and she frowned confused. She didn’t remember setting an alarm. When she turned it off a reminder message popped up and her eyes widened as she read it.

I hope you like it. I saw it and it reminded me of you. Wear it and think of me fondly? Check the front pocket of your purse. Saranghae Noona.

Her hands trembled as she set her purse on the trunk and opened the pocked to pull out a small envelope. Something moved inside it and tipping it upside down a beautiful white gold chain with a music note slid onto her hand. Staring at it in shock it dawned on her that he must have planned this sometime yesterday because he wouldn’t have been able to do it when they said goodbye. Realizing her thoughts her heart stuttered. He had planned this without even knowing if she really would wait for him.

Vaguely she heard Yhinny yelp and mutter something about rude people but her eyes were on the necklace in her hand and her thoughts thousands of miles away on the plane with Leo.

Someone grabbed her from behind and a voice whispered roughly to her, “Stay away from Leo.” before she was shoved forward.

A scream filled the air but she never saw the car coming, only felt an intense pain before the image of Leo smiling at her vanished as blackness claimed her and she knew nothing more.

“UNNI!” Yhinny screamed as she saw her sister go flying right towards the car that was racing down the street. The driver slammed on his brakes but it was too late to avoid hitting her.

Strong arms grabbed her from either side when she tried to run forward as she stared in disbelief, tears streaming from her eyes. “Nooooo.” She wailed as she wrenched her way free and flew towards Melody’s still form with Summer, and Trina only seconds behind her.

Summer turned and sobbed in Trina’s arms as Yhinny’s hands hovered over Melody’s unmoving body, one of her legs bent at an unnatural angle. She saw Melodys phone beside her, smashed to pieces and in Melody’s outstretched hand something glittered. Throwing herself across Melody’s still form she tried to deny what she was seeing. “Unni, Unni!” She cried until she was lifted away by a police officer, “Ma’am I’m sorry, I can’t have you touching her.”

Leo jerked awake thinking he heard Melody yell his name, and at the same time a sharp pain lanced though his heart. N looked at him questioningly from beside him and he shrugged in confusion.

Restlessly he shifted in his seat, unsure why he felt so uneasy. Finally he slipped back into a troubled sleep where he dreamed of Melody drifting further and further from him, her smile as blinding as the light that kept growing stronger behind her. “I’ll always love you Taekwoon.”

“Noona, I’ll come back for you. I promise.” He reached his hand out for her but she kept moving away from his reach

“Just never forget me.”

“Of course I won’t, we’ll be together soon.” Leo started running to catch up with her but he never seemed to be gaining any ground.

Her smile turned sad but as she started to speak someone shook him and he woke up to find Ken telling him they were landing.

Exiting the plane he tried to be patient as they walked through the crowded airport but he wanted to message Melody.

They loaded into the van but had to wait when their manager got out taking a call. After sending Melody a message he joined the others in looking out the window to see their manager pacing up and down agitated over something he was being told.

Finally after what seemed like forever he got in the van and buckled his seatbelt. His voice was strained as he explained that something came up and they had to go to the agency first. The guys all groaned. After being on the plane for so long they were eager to go home and relax.

Heading down to their normal practice room where their manager had told them to go they talked amongst themselves wondering what was going on.

Reaching the door N opened it to go in but was stopped by their manager. “Let Leo go first.” They all stared at him and Leo felt that odd sensation that hadn’t left him since he had first woken up on the plane intensify. Walking slowly in the room he saw their choreographer and the president of the company.

“Come here Leo-yah.”

The door closed behind Leo and the others turned to their manager demanding explanations.

“The woman Leo was seeing when you were in America…” he started out before N interrupted him and assured him they had done nothing wrong, although he had an idea of what had happened between Leo and Melody the night before they left he wasn’t going to say a word.

Their manager shook his head. “She was in an accident.” Startled gasps came from the VIXX members.

His heart in his throat N grabbed their manager’s shirt, “She’s okay right Hyung?” When he shook his head slightly N reacted without thinking and gave him a little shake. “Hyung…tell me you are wrong.”

A cry of agony reached them from inside the room and N opened the door in time to see Leo break away from their president and rush towards them. There was a wildness in his eyes as he moved to fling N out of the way but Ken rushed into to help tackle him to the ground, Ravi and Hongbin joined in when it became apparent the other two wouldn’t be able to hold him.

“Aniyo!” He shouted as he fought against them. “MELODY!” He roared in pain finally understanding why he had been tense all day.

“Noona!!!” He yelled in anguish before collapsing under the weight of the other four. He looked at N with tortured eyes and N wrapped his arms around him his heart breaking for his best friend and the woman who had made a place for herself in all of their hearts.

Hours later N quietly closed the door of bedroom where Leo finally slept with Ken curled up with him.

“Hyung.” Hongbin whispered and waved him over towards the computer. “Look.”

The ST☆RLIGHT fandom lost a beloved member today due to the actions of a sasaeng fan who was in America at the time.  It seems that the founder of East Coast ST☆RLIGHT’s and leader of newly debuted group 4D, had become close to one of VIXX’s main vocalist, Leo on a recent trip to the United States. The sasaeng fan in a fit of jealously pushed Melody into the street in direct way of an incoming car. Unable to slow down and avoid her in enough time she was struck and tossed through the air. Witnesses confirm the other members of 4D were there as they were intending on traveling back to their home at the time.

4D recently debuted during an event hosted by USA K-Pop, according to the flyers passed out,

“USA K-Pop would like to thank all those who have entered and supported this event. Special thanks to the East Coast ST☆RLIGHT fan group run by Melody and East Coast Melody’s run by Melody and Yhinny for helping to organize today’s cover entries and helping to raise over $10,000 in support.”

It seems Melody was a beloved member of the ST☆RLIGHT community who spread her love of VIXX and K-Pop in general where ever she went.

The hearts of ST☆RLIGHT’s all over the world are with the members of 4D at the difficult time.

N looked up horrified, “It was because of us?”

Hyuk shook like a leaf and his voice trembled, “What do we do?”

A curse word reached their ears and they looked up to see Ravi slam his phone down on the table, grief and stress evident on his face. “Yhinny’s phone is disconnected.”

Guilt cursed through all of them as they soberly reread the article that was being reposted throughout the different VIXX fanpages.

“We have to try to prevent Leo from finding this out. He’ll never forgive himself.”

N looked toward the bedroom where his friend tossed in a tormented sleep. “If any of us can ever forgive ourselves…”

Annyeong! Thank you to everyone who read my story, subscribed, and commented. This was my first time every writing a fan fiction so it was a little hard for me at times. I know some of you might be shocked over the ending but I hope you can forgive me for it. I’m not sure if any of you had noticed the subplot going on since the beginning about the concern of them being seen together. Sasaeng “fans” are indeed a very real concern to idols and even more of a concern to someone who might be considering dating an Idol. While I like to think something like this would not happen, unfortunately there probably is a real possibility of it, think of what they have done to idols already. I know we all have a secret hope of dating our bias one day but as that is highly unlikely I hope you all will be supportive of when your bias does try to find happiness with another person. When you are hurtful towards someone who is with them you are hurting not only that person but also your bias. Encourage your idols, support them, care about them, but remember they are people too and deserve to be happy. 

I do have an idea for a sequel to this story but I’m not sure yet if I will do it… maybe if you guys don’t hurt me first for this ending…
