Hyung Jun put the book he read down on the next chair as he noticed Sungjong made a little move. Hurriedly he got to his son, checking on him. Sungjong blinked a couple of time and looked at his father. “Good morning, or I can say, good night,” Hyung Jun smiled.

Sungjong tried to sit up with Hyung Jun’s help. He twisted his neck to the left, just to take look out the window– indeed, it was dark outside. Hyung Jun handed him a glass of water, which he gladly took it. After emptied the glass, he handed it back to Hyung Jun while mouthed thank you.

“How long I have been sleeping?” Sungjong asked with his low hoarse voice. He cleared his throat twice. He remembered the last time he woke up, it was still noon.

Hyung Jun checked on his wristwatch. “About 7 hours and 31 minutes,” he smiled, showing his dimples. “So, are you good?”

“After slept for 7 hours and 31 minutes, I guess I am.” Sungjong shrugged and both of them chuckled softly. To be honest, Sungjong had so much to ask, to say to his father but he didn’t know how to even start it.

“Sungjong?” Hyung Jun waved his hand in front of Sungjong’s face as he noticed his son seemed like in deep thought.

“I.. I need to use toilet.” Sungjong slowly threw his blanket away. Hyung Jun held Sungjong’s hand, just in case Sungjong needed a support. He then escorted his son to the toilet carefully.

When Sungjong was washing his hands, he remembered about Sungyeol. He didn’t get a chance to thank him yet because had brought him to the hospital. Sungyeol was practically saved both him and his baby. He opened the door and saw his father was waiting for him. “You done?” Hyung Jun gave out his right arm. Sungjong took it and hang in there. “Yeah,” Sungjong swallowed. He didn’t have his phone with him. When he refreshed his memory to the incident, he could see his phone was lying on the coffee table in the living room.

Slowly, Hyung Jun helped Sungjong to get in his bed again. Sungjong let out a light sigh, “Thank you, appa.”

“No problem, son,” Hyung Jun gave a tender smile at Sungjong. He then pulled the chair he sat on earlier, close to Sungjong’s bed.

“I want to make a phone call to Yeol hyung but I don’t have my phone. May I use yours?”

“Sure, sure,” Hyung Jun checked on his phone. “I’m sorry, son. My battery is running out.” Sungjong frowned by his father’s answer. “Oh. It’s okay. I’ll call him later.”

Hyung Jun nodded. “So, you know about your condition?”

“Umma said my baby is safe, which, I already met her, literally, in my dream, yeah.” Sungjong knew he sounded weird and awkward told about his meeting with his daughter in his dream to his father. But he didn’t get any snarky comment from Hyung Jun like he always had. “The baby is a girl?”

“Yes, a very lovely girl, Kim Soojong,” Sungjong smiled.

“In order for my granddaughter, Soojong, to born healthy, her mother here is in bed rest and closely monitored by the hospital staff. Even your little girl is survived, but doctor said her heartbeat is a little low. So, you need to cut on your physical activity, because one more fall, could hurt her.” Hyung Jun still wearing his calm face and the tender loving fatherly smile also still playing on his lips.

Sungjong looked a bit scared and upset. Hyung Jun took Sungjong’s hand and held it tight. “Hey, it’s okay, nothing to worry about, hm? We here will make sure both you and the baby are just fine.” Sungjong nodded weakly and forced a smile. Hyung Jun put his hand on Sungjong’s shoulder and gave a light reassuring squeeze. “I’ll do anything for my daughter.”

“Good.” Hyung Jun pulled his hand back. “Where is umma?” “and how is Myungsoo?” Sungjong was afraid to say out loud the second question. He was afraid for the answer. As much as he eager want to know either his husband was doing well, he didn’t ready to hear any bad news.

“Umma is waiting for Myungsoo.”

Sungjong was holding back his breath and tears as his father mentioned Myungsoo’s name. Hyung Jun knew what and how his son might felt right now. “Myungsoo is doing fine Sungjong. Good news, he got a donor and currently having his heart transplant,” Hyung Jun smiled widely.

“Oh, thank goodness.” Suddenly he started crying and his body shook with the sobs emanating from his chest as he cried in earnest. Hyung Jun got up and pulled Sungjong into his arms. Sungjong buried his face on Hyung Jun’s chest and continue cried. He was so, so relieved hearing that. It was indeed a good news. If the operation went perfectly fine, which Sungjong really hoped so, he and Myungsoo could get together again, he won’t lose his husband and his little angel baby girl will be able to meet her father. Hyung Jun rubbed circles on his son’s body whispering words of comfort and finally Sungjong sagged. He sniffed and wiped away his tears with his slender fingers before titled his head to look up at his father and wrapped his hands around his father’s neck.

Hyung Jun laughed quietly. “I’m happy for you too, son.”

Sungjong pulled away. And at this time, he was really actually smiling. “As I said, there’s no more to worry about, you ought to get to sleep again.”

“I just woke up, though,” Sungjong said as Hyung Jun made him lying down again and pulled the blanket up until his chin. Sungjong didn’t refuse anything. “Rest well, Sungjong. Once you wake up later, I think, by that time, the operation should be done. We’ll take you to meet Myungsoo.”

Sungjong nodded and closed his eyes, feeling content.

When Hyung Jun was about to sit back on his seat, Sungjong took his hand and made he faced down to look at his son. “Appa, I have to tell you something,” he swallowed nervously. Hyung Jun was a bit bewildered but didn’t utter a word. He took his seat, fixed his eyes with Sungjong’s and gave unjudge look to him, so Sungjong could feel more comfortable to speak up.

“What is it, Sungjong?”

Sungjong sighed. “You- do you noticed I said I met my daughter in my dream earlier?” Hyung Jun nodded. “Well, I met my son too, Chung Hee.”

“Chung Hee? Soojong’s twin brother?”

“No, no. Chung Hee is Soojong’s older brother. Okay, I need you to listen to me, without interruption.”

“Alright.” Sungjong let out a heavy breathe. “Do you remember my first pregnancy? It was a baby boy. And he was not Myungsoo’s.”

Hyung Jun gave a questioned look. “No, no, no. I’m not cheating on my husband nor I some sort of or something if that what you thought. The baby boy was Gyu hyung’s. He.. he did it again when we were in America. It was awful and I was very close to lost my marriage,” Sungjong sniffed when thinking about the painful memories. “He came again and I almost lost my second baby too.”

Sungjong looked at his father with teary eyes. Hyung Jun held his son’s hand. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry because I just told you about this matter now. I know I should have told you and umma sooner but I don’t know how and-and when. I’m-I’m scared you’ll be mad or upset with me. I’m sorry,” Sungjong said the last word whispery. “Son, I’m not mad at you,” Hyung Jun shook his head. “You don’t?”

“Nope. There’s no reason for me to be mad or upset with you. And thank you for telling me now. I understand you. No need to be sorry either, you done nothing wrong.”
