Staying
Hopeless"I won't let you die, Min," Yunho said. "Stay with me, okay? Stay with me."
"Hyung," Changmin whispered, trying hard to stay awake. Changmin gasped weakly, painfully trying to breathe in air that was getting harder and harder to get.
Yunho shushed him. "It's okay," he said. He could tell that Changmin had so much to say, but he didn't have the strength. "You can tell me later...when you get better, okay?" Yunho tried to see past his blurry vision but his tears were making it hard. "Just keep breathing, okay?"
Changmin didn't reply. His breaths were getting shorter and shorter before he coughed up blood once again. He muttered something BoA and Yunho couldn't understand. The sound of sirens had made it even harder to hear.
"Over there!" they heard Detective Kang yell at the paramedics. "He's been shot! Hurry!"
"Changmin, we need you to keep breathing," BoA said in alarm, noticing that the younger one's chest had completely stopped moving. The sound of his wheezing could no longer be heard.
There was no response from Changmin as his glazed eyes seemed to be looking right through BoA. His lips were moving, but no sound could escape.
BoA couldn't read his lips, and their eye contact was broken once the paramedics approached them, roughly pushing BoA and Yunho away as Changmin was lifted onto a stretcher. An oxygen mask was immediately put on his face.
"He's not breathing!" a paramedic announced after a few seconds.
They started rolling Changmin into the back of the ambulance.
Yunho immediately followed after having a short exchange with BoA, promising that they would meet each other again at the hospital.
Yunho held Changmin's hand the whole time as the ambulance began moving. He felt his own body going cold as Changmin completely lost consciousness, his lips turning a light shade of blue.
Everything was a blur for Yunho as the paramedics tried working on Changmin, hoping to bring him back from his unconscious state, but Yunho knew that Changmin was already too down under. Even as one paramedic began working on his bullet wound, and another began sticking an oxygen tube down his throat (something Yunho felt himself gagging and cringing at), Changmin didn't even twitch.
"I don't want you to die, Min," Yunho whispered, kissing the maknae's hand. "Stay. Please? Stay for me. Stay for your parents and your sisters. Stay for Kyuhyun and Minho. They don't deserve any more pain. Please, Changmin. Stay for everyone that loves you. We're not ready to let you go."
Yunho smiled. "Hey, Min," Yunho greeted softly as he noticed Changmin's eyelids fluttering. It had been three days since Changmin first woke up. It made sense that Changmin was so weak. He lost a lot of blood, and it was still hard for him to breathe. "Are you feeling okay?"
Changmin slowly turned his head, moving so he could look at Yunho. He gave Yunho a slightly confused look, as if he were trying to process the leader's question, before he gave a slow nod.
Yunho brought his fingers to Changmin's hair, gently playing with the strands. "You're still really tired, Angel?"
A few seconds later, and Changmin gave another nod. He started moving his trembling hand, wanting to hold Yunho's free hand that was casually on the bed.
Yunho seemed to notice this right away. He took Changmin's hand, the same one he was holding during the ride in the ambulance, and held it tightly. "Is that what you wanted?" he asked, just to make sure. "You wanted me to hold your hand?"
Changmin nodded slowly again before he opened his mouth, trying to find the energy to speak. "S-stay," he weakly requested.
This time, Yunho was the one to nod. "Of course I will," he promised. "I'm not leaving you. I'm staying right next to you, okay?"
Yunho could see the small smile that was beginning to form on Changmin's face. He took a deep breath. "Thank you," he said.
"You don't need to thank me, Changmin," Yunho replied. "I'll stay with you whether you like
