HopelessKyuhyun scoot over, making room for Changmin to lay down next to him. So far, the two of them said nothing when Changmin first came inside. It had been a day since Jinsuk had broken into the TVXQ home, but it was obvious that Changmin was still in shock. Changmin seemed distant, almost like he was afraid to be in the same room with Kyuhyun.
Changmin was able to understand Kyuhyun's silent invitation. He slowly climbed onto the bed, laying down comfortably next to his friend.
"Hey, Min," Kyuhyun finally greeted. He was glad to see proof that Changmin was living and breathing. He was glad to know that Jinsuk hadn't succeeded into taking Changmin from them once again.
But Kyuhyun still cringed when he saw the dark bruising on Changmin's neck. He knew those ugly markings were signs of the internal damage Jinsuk might have caused as well.
"You're going home today, right?" Kyuhyun asked, trying to get Changmin to communicate with him.
He only succeeded in getting a nod from the younger one.
"I'll be out in a couple of days," Kyuhyun announced. "Don't worry about me." He smiled, hoping that would have a hand in calming Changmin down.
Kyuhyun got another reaction from Changmin, but it wasn't anything he expected.
He was surprised to see Changmin's eyes start to water, the younger one struggling to keep his emotions intact.
"Changmin-," Kyuhyun stuttered.
"I'm sorry," Changmin said suddenly, his raspy voice causing Kyuhyun's eye to widen. Changmin's voice sounded so broken.
"What for?" Kyuhyun asked in surprise. Shouldn't he be the one apologizing for not being able to protect Changmin in the first place?
Changmin bit his lip, playing with a piece of Kyuhyun's blanket. He looked away. "You were hurt because of me," Changmin finally answered, keeping his words short.
Kyuhyun shook his head. "Min, don't say that," he said gently. "This isn't your fault." He sighed. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."
"I was the reason he came to the apartment," Changmin continued. "If it wasn't for me you'd be okay. You were hurt trying to protect me. Jinsuk could have killed you if he really wanted to."
"But he didn't," Kyuhyun reminded him. "I'm alive. You're alive. I'll be fine." Kyuhyun wrapped Changmin into a loose hug. Now he could see why their hyungs wouldn't let them see each other yesterday. Both of them were still weak and in shock. Having a conversation like this would probably be bad for them. It would stress them out too much.
It was already starting to stress Kyuhyun out a little, with the way Changmin kept insisting that everything was his fault.
Changmin shook his head. "I've put everyone around me in danger," he stated, choking back a sob. "It's not fair to any of you."
Kyuhyun shook his head. "You've got it all wrong, Min." He brought his hand to Changmin's hair, gently the younger one's hair.
"How?" Changmin questioned. "What's so wrong with what I've said?" He bit his lip, looking away from Kyuhyun. He wasn't able to handle the broken look Kyuhyun had given him. "Yunho, Yuki, BoA, and now you. How many people around me have to get hurt before all of this is guaranteed to stop?"
"Changmin don't say that," Kyuhyun replied, taken aback by Changmin's comments. Their hyungs had warned them about Changmin's state of mind, but he was hoping it wouldn't be this bad. "No one's getting hurt, okay? This will all be over soon." A sad smile crossed Kyuhyun's face. "Besides," he continued. "I remember one angel who risked his life to save his favorite hyung and noona. Remember that?"
Changmin nodded hesitantly. "I couldn't save you," he choked. "I couldn't save Yuki. I couldn't save Yunho the first time."
"You stopped Jinsuk from killing Yunho," Kyuhyun reminded him. "And if I remember correctly, you were the one who freed Yuki, right? Seriously, ju
