“Dang it, dang it, dang it!” Hissed Daniel. He put his hand into his hair and out again. He stared at the blood before washing it off of his hand. He looked around and saw some alcohol and cotton balls. He grabbed one and started to pour alcohol onto it.

“What are you doing?” Daniel jumped in surprised and dropped the items. He quickly kneeled down to pick up the alcohol bottle before anymore of the contents spilled out.

“I’m sorry,” he said. The nurse smiled gently at the frantic boy and looked on in bewilderment as she stared at his curly hair. She was an older woman, maybe her mid-fifties, but nonetheless, she found Daniel endearing. It reminded her of her own son.

“It’s fine, but what were you doing and why are you in a patient’s room?” She walked in and placed her clipboard off to the side. Daniel laughed nervously and, out of habit, reached to scratch his head only to flinch and pull back. “Are you okay, dear?” Daniel looked around to make sure his other members.

“I kind of hit my head earlier and it started bleeding. I was trying to maybe disinfect it.” The nurse looked at him for a moment before signaling for him to sit on a stool. He just stared at her and then the stool. “Come on; let me check it for you.” Daniel obliged and sat down.

The woman parted his hair, where she remembered him touching it. She marveled at the curliness, never having seen someone with such curly hair before.

“My, you have some curly hair,” she said. “Is it real?” Daniel couldn’t help but blush and laugh at the question.

“Kind of. I had it styled this way,” he answered. The woman hummed in response.

“Why?” She asked.

“The CEO wanted me to do it for our comeback,” he said. He started to feel sad and embarrassed once again, remembering how he never wanted it, and how the members laughed at him at first, except Changjo.

“Oh, so you’re a celebrity?” She asked in mock amazement. Daniel merely nodded slightly. “Well, I guess it’s not that bad, but I’m going to be right back. I need to put some antibiotic treatment on it so that it can heal faster.” Daniel merely nodded before bowing in gratitude.

She left out the door and went down the hall. Daniel couldn’t help but reach out and poke at it, despite the stinging sensation, he poked it again. He stopped himself after a moment and sat with his knees to his chest on the stool. He looked out the large window in the room and admired how everyone seemed so small. He looked up to the sky and admired how, even though it was so cloudy, there was a gap in the clouds that seems as if it was meant for the sun.

“It’s as if the sun is fighting to protect us from the cold,” he whispered. He just stared out, not directly into the sun, but its surrounding area. He watched as birds flew by and how the clouds slowly moved, yet never blocked it.

He heard the door open, but he didn’t turn around. He thought that it was just the nurse coming back with the antibiotics. He heard soft footsteps approach him.

“What are you doing here?” Daniel jumped and turned to see Changjo standing behind him.

“What are you doing here?” He asked, slightly frightened and worried. Changjo laughed a little at his hyung’s comeback.

“I asked you first. Besides, the doctor told me to wait here while he processes my X-rays.” Daniel nodded as he looked over towards the door and then back to Changjo. “Now what are you doing here? You didn’t hurt yourself did you hyung?” He asked with a laugh. He was saying it as a joke, but the way Daniel blushed in embarrassment made him stop.

“Promise not to tell the others?” He asked. Changjo merely nodded. Daniel was about to start, but the nurse came in.

“Oh, hello,” she said. Changjo merely bowed to her, making sure to keep his hand close to him and away from hitting anything. The woman came to Daniel. “Alright dearie, now turn around for me please.” Daniel obliged and turned around. The woman parted his hair and he felt something sharp enter his scalp.

“Ow!” He hissed. He heard a gasp coming from Changjo.

“Sorry honey. I didn’t want to scare you, but there was a large gash, and it seemed to only get bigger, so I will have to close it.” Daniel’s eyes widened, panic settling in. “Don’t worry; I won’t let you see it. I even gave you a numbing agent, so you won’t even feel a thing.” It didn’t help him much, and he started fidgeting. “I need you to stay still honey.” Daniel tried to, but he just couldn’t.

“It’s okay.” Daniel’s eyes darted to a hand clasped onto his and then up to Changjo’s face. Changjo was facing towards the door, back to the window, with a smile on his face. Daniel looked back at their hands and squeezed it tight. Changjo rubbed his thumb over the back of his hand and started to hum to try and calm him down.

“Almost done,” said the nurse.  Daniel squeezed Changjo’s hand and hummed along. “Alright, that’s it!” Called out the nurse as she stepped away from Daniel. She picked up a small towel and whipped his head before whipping her hands. “I can get you some antibiotics and pain killers.” The nurse then moved Daniel’s hair back into place. “You have so much pretty hair, so no one will be able to see it.” Daniel smiled as he patted his hair. He tried to poke at where the nurse sewed him up, but she stopped him. “Don’t touch it honey, you need to leave it alone to heal.” Daniel looked at her and smiled.

“Thank you noona,” he said. The nurse simply smiled as she gathered her things. She then looked at Changjo.

“Are you his friend?” Changjo nodded. “Oh, so I have another celebrity in my presence?” He nodded again. “Can you do me a favor?” Changjo leaned in close to her. “Make sure he doesn’t mess up his pretty curls and bring him back in about two weeks so I can take the stitches out.” He smiled and nodded, yet he never let go of Daniel’s hand.

“Noona?” Called out Daniel. She turned to him as she made her way towards the door. “Can you not tell anyone about this? I don’t want anyone to worry.” She looked at him for a moment and saw the sincerity in his eyes; she couldn’t help but to smile at his innocence. She nodded before leaving out the door.
