Slowly my cuts faded
Slowly the weight came off

 I was so busy working for my mom’s wedding.

*Flashback

 I came home from school and there was a car parked in the driveway. That car obviously wasn’t ours. It was suspicious

 When I opened the door I saw my mm sitting at the dinning table with a man. I had no clue who he was, I really couldn’t care less about who he was. Untill she explained to me who he was

 “Oh, Heeyoung welcome home. This is my fiancé and your future step-dad” She smiled sweetly. I knew that she was faking it. She was never this nice, or spoke to me in a gentle tone of voice. She never acted like she cared for me.

 “Hello Heeyoung, I’m Lee Hyunshik your new dad. Please call me appa. I hope to get closer to you in the future” He smiled and shook my hand

 To be nice and leave a good impression I bowed. “Annyeonghaseyo, Heeyoung-imnida. Welcome to the family….appa” I faked a smile. My mom looked at me and nodded.

 -End of Flashback-

 Currently I’m at the café. Working long shifts, usually until midnight or 1. I’ve been working a lot and earning tons of money. All of this is for my moms wedding. But, because of all the working, my grades have been slipping a bit.

  “Thanks you for visiting, please come again” I waved goodbye.

 Because of all my working I couldn’t visit my ‘special place’. So, my cuts were beginning to fade and heal. I never really ate, I just drank coffee of energy drinks so I could stay up and work.

 It was 11:57 and the shop was about to close. It was really dark out, normally I would be scared. I’m not anymore.

 “Heeyoung, Can you please close up for me. I has some things I have to tend to” The store manager said

 “Hmm… Yeah, Have a safe drive” I bowed and gave a re-assuring smile

 When she left my smile faded. I yawned as I cleaned the coffee pots. I my attention turned away from the pots, the door had opened. A pregnant lady came in , looking scared.

 “Uhh.. we’re closed” I explained to her
 

 “I know but, there was this man… he followed me here. I lost him and now I’m really scared. I was just coming back from an appointment when, a man in a black hoodie followed me. I lost him about a block away, he was chasing after me. I just…” She broke down, crying. Her head down and her tears strolled down her face.

 “Miss.. Should I call the police?” I asked getting up and locking the front doors.

 “No, it’s fine. I guess… I just need company” She sobbed

 “I can walk you home, you know it’s the least I can do. Do you want some tea or anything? To calm you down? It’s on the house” I cheered

 “ No, it’s fine. But If you really want to walk me home” She hoped for a ‘;yes’

 “Yeah, I’ll walk home with you. Just give me 2 minutes to clean up”

 “This is embarrassing but can I borrow money for a taxi? I has another appointment for tomorrow” The lady asked

 “Year sure thing” I took out my wallet and when I opened it she took all my cash and went into her house.

 I was going to knock on the door but , there’s no point.

 “ Where’s my money?” My mom held out her hand

 “There was a lady who took it all, Mianhe. I’ll work extra hard for tomorrow” I bowed my head and left before my mom could yell

That same night I stayed awake recalling everything.

A kind soul, is a  useless one too
