ElevenUme admitted she was a bit flattered when the boys animatedly circled her, each clamouring for her attention right after the recording.
"Sam, did you come and see --?"
"Sam, sam, what about the --"
"...so nervous! Sam! Was it-- "
She felt a little heady after a while.
"You boys did awesome." Ume gave her assurance. She meant it.
The boys satisfactorily smiled at each other.
"And Kyungsoo sang beautifully." She glanced at the beaming boy. Kyungsoo grinned even more.
"Ah... Sam, that's so unfair, there's so many of us here today and you only noticed D.O? I'm sad." Sehun pouted.
"And I put in so much effort into that dance too..." Kai followed suit.
"Sehun-ah, you had the most screen time today, do you even need more attention? And Kai ---"
Ume pointed a finger at him.
"Your dance is just too y for a shy noona like myself to watch properly okay?"
Kai put a finger to his lips and smirked. "I know."
Ume rolled her eyes.
"Sam, we are going to Taiwan tomorrow." Chanyeol chirped.
"But we'll be back on Wednesday night." Baekhyun added.
"Will you teach us some things quickly?" Chanyeol continued.
"What, haven't you learnt anything during lessons?"
"Ah... we didn't forget, we just want to be prepared, you know?"
Judging by the way Joonmyun was laughing, Chanyeol's totally lying.
Ume sighed. "Have you talked to your manager?"
Baekhyun chirped again: "No."
"I'll talk to him and see how I can fit in, okay?"
"Sam Hurray!! Hurray!!!" Chanyeol and Sehun started chanting together whilst the others joined in the noisy atmosphere.

It was harder than Ume thought.
The boys' schedule was packed. She didn't know how she could fit in a slot for them without risking them tiring themselves out. The only timing available was probably right before they leave for Taiwan, Tuesday morning.
Ume bowed to the manager when she was leaving. As she meandered her way quickly through the corridors, some posters caught her eye.
Posters of her boys.
She hesitated before the A4 posters plastered across the entire corridor. 12 of them. So many of them. Yet, she found herself searching for one face.
Kyungsoo.
"Baby don't cry..."
She had felt a little wave of emotion then. Touched? Sadness? She couldn't quite put her finger on it. He sounded so genuinely... concerned. Something she thought she had long forgotten she needed from the myraids of bad experiences in the past years.
And that look.
He looked like.. he...
Something in Ume's heart jumped then. She wanted to slap herself across the face. Tsk, what the hell is she thinking? They are 11 years apart. This boy. And her. They are like parallel lines running along each other that will never meet.
Ever.
