The Line Between Prejudice And Truth 7th + 8th + 9th Day

The Line Between Prejudice And Truth

[7 - SUNDAY]

The Sunday passed by quickly. SiWon went to church and stayed there for almost three hours. After the church service, he prayed for his family, his friends and to pass the exam tomorrow.

He was nervous and told himself he would only learn today and not call anyone or meet up with his friends.

So he did and tried to remember everything that seemed to be important for the exam.

He wondered if his friends learned as much as him. Probably not, he thought. But in the late afternoon he prayed again and this time only for the exam and that everyone would pass it on Monday.

His eyes were tired from staring at all these books and reading for almost the whole day, except of the morning of course. He rested his head on his arms that were folded on his desk. Just for a short moment, he closed his eyes. He thought of everything. School, the exam, his friends, his family, even the strange guy called HeeChul.

And then he fell asleep.

---[8 - MONDAY]

The next day came and SiWon was quiet nervous. His head and neck hurt because it wasn't comfortable to sleep on a chair and his desk but he would have to bear the pain. It wasn't even much but he had to write the exam today. He had to pass it. His parents were strict and didn't allow him to fail at it.

He felt the pressure on him that he actually should be even better than his friends. After all he had teached them and not the other way around but he didn't want to be selfish. His friends deserved good grades as well.

"Hey," YeSung, LeeTeuk and KyuHyun greeted him. Today, no one hugged each other because they were just too nervous.

They tried to smile and breathed slowly in and out to calm themselves down. This exam was too important to fail.

They entered the class room together and the teacher came with them.

"Please sit down. Don't talk. Don't cheat. I'll give you your sheets now. Please be quiet. You've time untill 10.45 am," he explained and everyone nodded. Then he started to give everyone the exam. Here and there were still quiet whispers of 'good luck' and then everything was quiet.

SiWon heard his heart beat fast and he wondered whether no one else could hear it. He looked around but everyone was busy and had started to write already. His gaze fell on HeeChul. He was biting on his lower lip while thinking and started to wrote something down, too. SiWon chuckled silently. Somehow he thought it was cute. Then it hit him. How could he find HeeChul's expression out of all cute?

After a few seconds of watching him he realized he should start too, so he kept his head down and read the task before writing down what he thought would be right and give him a good grade.

---

"When you're finished, you can leave," the teacher announced after seeing SiWon and two other's looking around with bored faces.

SiWon stood up silently and handed him his exam over before he took his bag and left the room.

He waited outside until his friends would come.

The door opened and he saw HeeChul coming out. SiWon had wanted to apologize to him, so maybe this was the right time, he thought, but directly behind HeeChul, YeSung and RyeoWook came out as well.

So instead of talking to HeeChul who ignored him anyway, he went to his friends. "And? What do you think about it?" he asked and they both nodded with a smile.

"I think I did pretty well," RyeoWook stated and YeSung nodded approvingly.

"And you?" he asked while they went to the cafeteria to sit down on a table.

"Me, too. I'm sure I'll pass," he told them happily.

So they waited for the rest of their friends to come as well.

One after one left the class room and finally, SungMin and LeeTeuk came as well.

"Ha, finally finished and I'm still alive!" DongHae exclaimed as he ran after those two when they reached YeSung, RyeoWook and SiWon.

LeeTeuk and SungMin just nodded relieved as well to be finished with learning and to get through the exam.

Eventually, KyuHyun came to them. He was the last and his expression reflected annoyance and anger.

"What's wrong, Kyu?" SungMin asked worried.

KyuHyun rolled his eyes. "I hate exams," he simply stated.

"But wasn't-" YeSung wanted to ask something but KyuHyun interrupted him furiously. "Shut up, YeSung! I don't want to talk about this ing exam anymore! I've to bear the grade under it afterwards anyway, so please don't talk about it more than nessecary!" he explained and YeSung just nodded without saying anything else.

"So, guys...I suggest to skip the last lessons and go to the cafe now," DongHae said and KyuHyun, SungMin and LeeTeuk agreed immediately.

SiWon had to think about it for a few seconds. He had never skipped classes on his old school and now he should? But when YeSung and RyeoWook eventually agreed as well, SiWon did so, too.

So the seven of them stood up and left the school building. They walked over to their favorite cafe and sat down on a free table.

They ordered some drinks and just enjoyed not to be in school for once.

---

"I must go now, guys," SungMin said.

"Me, too," KyuHyun added and SiWon couldn't suppress a smile. He suspected KyuHyun wanted to spent time with SungMin but he didn't want to ask, mainly because he wasn't even sure if anyone else except of him and YeSung knew about them.

They waved goodbye and left.

"Ah, I hope even Kyu manages to pass this ing exam," LeeTeuk stated and rolled his eyes.

The rest nodded with a sigh.

"I'll pray for him later," SiWon announced with a smile and DongHae laughed out loud but nodded once more, this time more emphatically.

SiWon looked at his watch and remembered his mother saying he should come home after school without staying at a friend's home or go shopping or anything else, so he was the next to go. "Bye, my mother is waiting for me. I've to go," he announced and left the cafe.

Outside he noticed HeeChul picking up his daughter from kindergarden. He remembered how he wanted to apologize to him. He turned around to look for his friends. He saw them still happily talking inside of the cafe. They wouldn't even be able to see him with HeeChul and because it didn't seem as if they wanted to leave just now, he headed towards his class mate.

"We go and visit your grandmother first, okay Chin-Sunnie? Then I'll cook for you," SiWon heard HeeChul say to his daughter when he approached them.

"Uh...uhm..HeeChul? Hey...," SiWon stuttered and wondered in the same moment why he just stuttered like that.

HeeChul turned around. The surprise on his face change immediately into hate, anger and maybe even hurt.

SiWon felt the guilt building up inside of him and he opened his mouth to apologize. "I'm sorry for what I said last time," he murmured silently.

HeeChul just nodded and her daughter looked at SiWon with big eyes although she didn't understand what they were talking about.

SiWon's head was down. He didn't want to meet HeeChul's eyes.

Maybe he should just go now. After all he did what he wanted to do. What else should he say anyway?

But when he wanted to turn around, HeeChul eventually spoke. "It's okay. I'm used to be called like that," he said with a shrug.

SiWon lifted his head to observe HeeChul with a shocked expression. Why was he used to be called like that? Then he realized that maybe it was because everyone thought about him the same way. And SiWon also realized that perhaps HeeChul wasn't what everyone thought. Should SiWon try to get to know him better first? His friends had warned him of HeeChul but SiWon had never seen HeeChul being like a total except of the one time he had seen him going into a whorehouse.

"Uhm...maybe you still want to go with me to the cafe? Of course I'll pay for you then," SiWon asked shyly.

"Sorry, but I've to take care of my daugher now," HeeChul apologized. SiWon couldn't quiet understand HeeChul's expression but he thought that HeeChul may understood it wrongly. "Not today. Just tell me when you've time for it, hm?" SiWon suggested.

HeeChul shrugged unsure whether he should agree or not. The last time someone had invited him like that was a few years ago, so he didn't know what he should answer now.

"I-I think...maybe tomorrow then?" HeeChul asked almost shyly himself.

SiWon couldn't help but chuckle. HeeChul somehow seemed so inexperienced. He didn't know if it was that or he just didn't want to. Maybe he didn't like to be much with other people as everyone said. Perhaps he just wasn't that social.

But SiWon smiled. "Alright, then tomorrow after school?"

HeeChul nodded. "But I can't stay for long. I've to pick up my little Chin-Sunnie," he announced.

"It's okay. See you then. Bye," SiWon said and waved at him.

"Yeah. And thanks for the help for the exam," HeeChul said before he himself turned around with his daughter to go away.

SiWon smiled. He didn't even ask how it had been for HeeChul. That was now too late anyway. So he went home.

His mom was waiting impatiently. "Where have you been, SiWon? Didn't I say you should come home instantly?" she yelled and SiWon apologized. "I'm sorry, Umma. You know I had to take the exam and I needed a little bit more time," he lied with an apologetic smile.

"Why did you need longer? I thought you had learned? I thought you knew everything?! So you failed?!" She asked furiously.

"No, no, Umma. I'm truely sorry," SiWon quickly said.

"Yeah, I hope so. You'll stay at home for the next two days and only leave the house to go to school," she announced and SiWon's jaw dropped. "But why?" he asked desperately.

"Because you have to learn to be here on time," she explained.

SiWon sighed. "Yes Umma," he said, bowed and went to his room with frustrtation clearly visible in his expression.

---[9 - TUESDAY]

It was Tuesday and SiWon's mood was down. How could his mother forbid him to be out in the afternoon? It wasn't that he was often away or on parties anyway.

"," he cursed angrily as he entered the school building.

"What's wrong?" DongHae asked surprised.

SiWon shook his head in disbelief still thinking of what his mother had said and explained it to his friend.

"Oh...I feel sorry for you," DongHae said and put his right arm around SiWon's shoulder.

SiWon sighed. "Let's go to the classroom. The other's are already there, right?" he asked and DongHae nodded with a bright smile as always. SiWon couldn't help but smile as well. DongHae was just making everyone happy with his cute attitude.

"Hey, Kyu," SiWon greeted him as he sat down on his seat next to his friend.

"Hi SiWon," KyuHyun said and smiled. "How are you?"

SiWon didn't really bother to open his mouth to tell the same story to the younger one as well, so he just nodded with a smile.

The teacher entered class and started the lesson. SiWon looked around. SungMin was smiling to himself the whole time while YeSung and RyeoWook were talking, probably about the task they had just gotten from the teacher. DongHae was sleeping and SiWon couldn't hold back a silent laughter as the teacher realized that and had to wake DongHae up with an annoyed expression. Even LeeTeuk was smiling freely. It seemed as if everyone was happy today and SiWon didn't want to put the whole good mood down, so he just forgot his mother for a while and concentrated on the lesson and his friends.

He noticed HeeChul looking at him for a short moment and he smiled at him with his warm smile. HeeChul smiled back himself although his smile wasn't that happy. In fact, to SiWon it seemed as if he wasn't really happy sometimes because he didn't laugh often.

"However," SiWon murmured and his gaze fell on the teacher in the front to listen to his talking. That was how this endless lesson finally passed by. The morning went on and now it was already midday and school was out for him.

He wanted to wait for HeeChul in front of the school but he took his time to say goodbye to his friends first because he didn't really want them to notice it.

But when SiWon came out and wanted to go to HeeChul who waited around the corner as they had agreed his mother suddenly stood in front of him.

"I hope you wanted to go home? However, today I pick you up, so get into the car," she declared and SiWon had no chance to protest. He had to obey with a sigh.

When his mother drove away, they passed HeeChul. SiWon wanted to tell him somehow that he couldn't go to the cafe with him today but how could he? HeeChul didn't notice him in the car and was still waiting.

SiWon almost had started to scream and yell at his mother. He didn't even have HeeChul's number to call or text him. He couldn't do anything at all.
