Wedding Day

25 Days Of Falling In Love

December 17, 2010

It was a beautiful day for a wedding. Blue skies, barely a cloud in the sky and a light breeze in the air. It had already put the two girls in Seowoo’s private hotel room in a happy mood. Seohyun’s came out of the bathroom after putting on the bridesmaid dress. Seohyun was all ready, minus the shoes, because she had gone to a salon beforehand. Her hair was in loose wavy curls and her bangs were pinned back with a simple floral clip.

Seowoo was sitting in front of the hotel vanity with a plush white bathrobe on and a hairstylist doing her hair and a makeup artist doing her face.

“You look beautiful!” exclaimed Seowoo once she saw Seohyun in the mirror.

“Not as beautiful as you’ll look once you put on your wedding dress.” Seohyun looked over at the clock on the dresser. “It’s almost 10 a.m. Getting wedding jitters?”

Seowoo nervously laughed. “I’m about to pass out.”

There was a sudden knock at the door and Seowoo’s mother popped into the room. “Are you almost ready? Wow Seohyun you look beautiful .”

She turned to Seowoo. “Come on honey go get into that dress. You have five minutes!”

“Alright alright Mom. Go and continue greeting guests outside!” Seowoo gave her mom a quick hug and she left.

“Your mom has amazing taste, all gussied up in her korean traditional clothing,” complimented Seohyun.

“Right?!” exclaimed Seowoo. “And even for a woman in her 50’s!”

They laughed as the makeup artist brought out the dress for Seowoo to slip on. “It’s time Seowoo.”

Seohyun took the dress and they both went inside the bathroom.

Seowoo’s dress was a beautiful mermaid tail ivory gown. The bottom was plain and the top from waist up was intricately beaded with small flower designs. As Seowoo adjusted the sweetheart neckline and as Seohyun zipped up the back zipper, they looked at each other in the mirror and at the completed bride.

Tears were slowly swelling in Seohyun’s eyes.

“Don’t cry or else I’ll cry!” exclaimed Seowoo as she turned around to give Seohyun a tight hug.

Seohyun hugged her back just as tight. “Come on, let’s go start this wedding.

An usher placed Seohyun and a flower girl (Seowoo’s friends cute daughter) in front of the venu door. Behind her was Seowoo and her father, arm in arm, nervous and excited at the same time. Seowoo and Jungil were both an only child and their families had been waiting for this very day practically all their lives.

The usher gave the pianist the cue to begin. A gentle, ear pleasing piano instrumental began and the flower girl started her walk. With his hands, the usher counted to five and signaled Seohyun to walk.

Holding the petite white and blue calla lilies in her hand, Seohyun stepped out the doorway and into the aisle.

She kept in time to the beat of the pianist’s playing and discreetly looked around the room. All of Seowoo and Jungil’s family were present. She saw some of Seowoo’s friends and all the instructors from Jungil’s action school.

Then, she caught eyes with him. Wearing a pristine black suit and navy blue tie, was Yonghwa. He was turned around in his chair watching just like everyone else. He stared at her with a smile and Seohyun smiled back. Yonghwa gave her a nod, as if to say she was doing great. She looked away with a small smile on her face and finally reached the end of the aisle, meeting the pastor and Jungil.

Jungil stood, with his black suit and white bow tie, and gave Seohyun a squeeze on the shoulder.

Seohyun whispered to him, “Congratulations,” and walked to her assign spot.

Then, the ‘Wedding March’ began. The doors reopened for Seowoo and her father’s grand entrance. Everyone stood up on cue and immediately whispers of how beautiful Seowoo looked were said.

But for Seowoo and Jungil, their eyes were only glued on each other. As Seohyun watched the two, overwhelming emotions filled her body. They had all known each other for years. An unrequited love from Seowoo led to a one side love from Jungil to Seohyun and eventually the confession and love the formed between the two. They were the definition of once you find love, go for it until the very end. Their marriage, their union was the end and the beginning of a life together. This was what they’ve always wanted. And as a friend, Seohyun couldn’t feel any happier.

As Seowoo approached the end of the aisle, Jungil held out his hand for her to take and together stood in front of the pastor.

“We are gathered here today to join this man, Cho Jungil, and this woman Yang Seowoo, in holy matrimony.”

“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Applause and hollers emitted from the guests as Jungil gave Seowoo a sweet kiss on the lips.

Seohyun laughed as the two pumped their fists in the air in celebration and began to walk down the aisle.

The rest of the guests began to file outside to throw rice for luck.

Seohyun decided to stay behind for a bit as she walked towards a chair and sat down.

“Beautiful ceremony right?”

Seohyun turned to the speaker. “Unless you found it boring Yong?”

He laughed. “To be honest, a little bit. I just wanted them to be married already.”

Seohyun looked up at where Seowoo and Jungil stood mere minutes ago. “If you were to ask me weeks ago that this was where I was going to be and doing, that Seowoo and Jungil would be married to each other, and I was an actual actress, I’d laugh. No, I’d call all this crazy. But fate has always amused me. Fate has no set plans, no checklists. It just runs its course with its eyes wide open ready to take on whatever comes its way. Fate...is unpredictable.”

“Fate brought me friendship,” said Yonghwa with a smile. “I’d never thought I’d be invited to a wedding of a couple I’ve only known for a few weeks. Fate brought me here for a reason.”

Seohyun turned to Yonghwa and met his eyes. He stared into hers with a half smile. “How crazy fate is huh?”

“Hey Seohyun!”

Seohyun quickly turned around upon hearing her name. Jungil’s best man was standing in the doorway. They had only met for a few moments before the wedding. He was waving at her to come. “The limo’s here o take up to the reception.”

She stood up from her chair and turned to Yonghwa, “I’ll see you later.”

“Let’s give a huge welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Cho Jungil!”

The reception hall shouted out hoots and hollers and applause. Seowoo and Jungil walked in, hand and hand, all smiles towards theirt able.

Seohyun and Jungil’s best man, Kang Eric followed in suit.

As everyone sat down at their tables, lunch began to be served. With juicy chicken and traditional korean dishes served, Seohyun couldn’t help but bask in all the food.

“Look at those lovers, they can’t get their hands off each other.” said Eric with a mouthful of food.

Seohyun let out a bubbly laugh. Seowoo and Jungil were feeding each other. “Oh the honeymoon phase will probably last forever with the two of them.”

After lunch, s toast was announced to be made by the best man and maid of honor. The toast began with the best man speech.

“I’ve known Jungil since elementary school and we’ve been best friends ever since. He was always into martial arts and watching all those Bruce Lee movies but I wasn’t. I loved basketball but this guy over here would drag me to every single martial arts lesson. I eventually got my black belt because of him. But we had different dreams, I went off to become a lawyer and he going into acting and opening up his own action school. We’ve kept in touch through the years and when he called to tell me he was getting married I was shocked. Who was this woman who captivated my best friends heart? I met her just last week over dinner and we were waiting for Jungil, who was late doing last minute business at his action school. And we talked. Not about Jungil more like about me and her. I knew she was smittedn by him because she actually took the time to get to know me. I praise any woman who knows that to any mans heart is through his friends and food.” The guests let out a laugh. “So, I congratulate Jungil and Seowoo on their marriage. I’m so incredibly happy for you and incredibly jealous.” Eric lifted his glass of champagne and everyone toasted.

Eric then turned to Seohyun with a nod. It was her turn to say a speech.

Seohyun cleared and stood up from her chair. “I remember walking into Seowoo’s class my first year in college. Immediately you could see her personality, tenacious, aggressive, and dominant. But, there was also heartwarming, caring, and incredibly funny. From that day on she wasn’t only my acting coach or teacher but my sister. She’s been there for me when I was happy or a complete tearful mess. She was always there for me no matter what. I met Jungil through Seowoo when he took the same acting class as me for one semester. He is an oppa I’ve never had. Kind, tough, charming, caring, and always looking for those boys.” said Seohyun with the emphasis on the word boys. “So when Seowoo told me that they’re getting married so quickly after  just starting to date, I was not only ecstatic but worried. For me, it was too soon to be committed to each other for life. But they proved me wrong. Their perseverance to get pass peoples distaste of their quick marriage showed me that they are ready for marriage. Jungil and Seowoo are meant to be together and I’m so happy to be a part of their journey. Congratulations Jungil and Seowoo!”

“Congrats!”

Seohyun sat back down and drank the remaining of her champagne.

The party continued on. After lunch the dance floor was open with the father daughter dance. Seowoo looked sweet smiling up at her father with tears in her eyes. They danced to Luther Vandross’s “Dance With My Father”. Slowly, as the song changed to another sweet slow song, couples began to fill the floor.

“Would you like to dance?”

Seohyun turned around and found Yonghwa standing behind her with his hand extended to her.

Seohyun placed her hand in his and with a confident smile answered, “Of course.”

They walked together, hand in hand onto the dance floor. Yonghwa gently put his hand on her waist while Seohyun placed her on his shoulder.

Yonghwa pulled her closer to him as he whispered in her ear, “Did I mention how beautiful you look?”

Seohyun playfully slapped him on the shoulder. “You look handsome as well.”

“The right answer would be to say thank you right?” teased Yonghwa as he twirled her.

“Alright, no more sarcasm from you”

Yonghwa laughed. “Come on, its not everyday I can be honored with your presence.”

Seohyun rolled her eyes teasingly. “Again with the sarcasm! You’ll be seeing me a lot more once promotions start and trust me you’ll get tired of seeing this face.”

Yonghwa looked into her eyes. Seohyun couldn’t help but stare back into his. What did this look mean? They had done this at the wedding ceremony and now here? This look made her heart ache and her stomach want to hurl. His eyes...were like unspoken words and Seohyun just wanted him to say it all out loud.

“Come on Yong, you always stare at me like that. What is it?”

He shook his head as they continued to slow dance. “It’s nothing.”

Seohyun didn’t want to pester him any longer so they swayed in silence.

She doesn’t know...

He doesn’t know...

How much...

How much...

I want...

I want...

to love her...

to love him...

to hold her in my arms...

to kiss his lips...

to make her understand...

to make him understand...

I know her heart...

I know what’s right...

We can’t be together...

“Before we begin the cake cutting,” announced the MC once the song ended. “The bride wanted to introduce a very special performance onto the stage.”

Seowoo grabbed the microphone from the MC with a huge smile on her face. “Before I announce what I am going to say, I want to thank you all for coming to our wedding!”

Seohyun and Yonghwa joined in with the hoots and hollers.

“Jungil and I are so appreciative of our family and friends for coming out. We love you all!” yelled Seowoo as she blew kisses out to the guests. “But the real reason why I’m up here is to introduce my surprise entertainment who I stumbled up whole on set of “Falling In Love”. Please help me in giving a huge round of applause to Jung Yonghwa!”

Yonghwa looked at Seohyun with shocked eyes.

Seohyun only laughed as she pushed him towards the stage.

The MC came out with a chair and a guitar for Yonghwa. Another set up the mic stand in front of him.

“Wow,” laughed Yonghwa as he sat down on the stool and took the guitar in his hands. “Well this is unexpected.” He recieved a few chuckled from the guests. “I wasn’t going to originally do this when Seowoo asked but since I’m up here I might as well. Seowoo and Jungil, congratulations and this song is for you.”

The soft acoustic melodies from Edwin McCain’s “I’ll Be” began to play from Yonghwa.

“The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful. Stop me and steal my breath,” sang Yonghwa. “And emeralds from mountains towards the sky never revealing their depth.”

As guests began to head on the dance floor, Seohyun could see Seowoo making her way across towards her.

They clasped hands together as Seowoo yelled, “Having a good time?!”

“Of course!” replied Seohyun as she squeezed Seowoo’s hands.

“I saw you dancing with Yonghwa before.” Seowoo wiggled her eyebrows up and down as she always did whenever Yonghwa was mentioned.

Seohyun shook her head. “We were just dancing!”

“Right...”

“Mrs. Cho!” Jungil walked towards them waving his hand at Seohyun. He grabbed Seowoo’s waist affectionately from behind, cradling his head between her shoulders and neck. Seowoo let go of Seohyun’s hands to give Jungil a sweet kiss on the lips. “Let’s go dance Mrs. Cho. Yonghwa sounds great right Seohyun?”

Seohyun nodded. “Yes he does.”

“Alright I’ll go dance with you Mr. Cho. It’s not like we have all night.” smiled Seowoo mischievously.

“You might not have energy tonight.”

“Trust me I will.”

“Alright gross,” gawked Seohyun jokingly. “Is this Mr. and Mrs. thing going to be happening all night?”

“What do you think Mr. Cho?” asked Seowoo.

“I think yes Mrs. Cho,” replied Jungil.

“Get out of here and dance!” yelled Seohyun. She watched them go off onto the dance floor, calming down to slow dance to Yonghwa’s singing.

Suddenly, Seohyun felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Eric, Jungil’s best friend and best man.

“Would you like to dance?”

Seohyun gave him a small smile. “Sure.”

He led her onto the dance floor and they began to slow dance. Seohyun didn’t know much about Eric except for meeting him in the morning and his best man speech at the toast.

“Sorry for awkwardly asking you to dance but all of Jungil’s friends are either married or way too buff for me.”

Seohyun laughed. “Then I was your last choice?”

Eric looked at her with a charming smile. “Nope, just my only choice.”

She laughed. “Well then, I’m glad you asked me to dance.”

Eric narrowed his eyes at her. “Are you flirting with me?”

Seohyun looked away from him stifling a laugh.

“I joke when I’m nervous,” apologized Eric. “But we haven’t formally met except for the brief meeting this morning. I’m Kang Eric.”

“Seo Seohyun.”

“Well it’s nice to meet you.”

“You too.”

“I’ll be your crying shoulder, I’ll be love’s suicide.”

As Seohyun and Eric danced, her eyes drifted up to the stage where Yonghwa was and instantly caught his eyes staring right at her.

“I’ll be better when I’m older, I’ll be the greatest fan of your-- I’ll be your crying shoulder, I’ll be love’s suicide.”

It was the same stare from before except more intense. Seohyun’s mind wanted her to look away but her heart wouldn’t let her.

“I’ll be better when I’m older, I’ll be the greatest fan of your life.”

She just couldn’t decipher his stare.

“The greatest fan of your life...greatest fan of your life.”

Eric gently let her go once the song ended. The guests gathered in applause but Seohyun wasn’t clapping along. Yonghwa and her were still in their intense stare and hose last lines of song said it all for Seohyun.

Things were about to get complicated.

Chapter 23: You know what.. i hate myself most when im reading this fic. Because i cant help myself feeling annoying and many times hating seohyun attitude here. Though she's my ultimate bias forever but being a woman as what she is i would say she is so selfish and heartless. Even aftet she realize she didnt even change. Look at the what happened. Yong made effort to come but she rarely show it but once so call guy friend came in she forgot him. Her biopolar here make me sick. Yeah i know im rude here and im sorry to say it straight. But she doesnt deserve yonghwa here.
