The Odds of Us

In the coming weeks, Minzy found herself busy day and night. During the day she was getting acquinted with her new job and at night she worked on her new place. Grinning to herself as she looked about her apartment she was proud of herself of having a place of her own. Grabbing the garbage she acquired from her unpacking, she headed down the stairs to take out the trash. Flipping on the studio lights, she was so tempted by the open space she almost forgot she had come down to take out the trash. Shrugging her shoulders, she made her way out to the garbage can and returned having a lingering gaze on the soft glow of the spot lights that shinned on the floors. "What the hell," she sighed as she rushed back into her apartment grabbing her bluetooth speaker and rushed back down the stairs. Turning on all the lights, she became giddy with excitement as she her speaker. Hitting random on her phone, she smiled as the music filled the air. Bobbing her head to the beat, she turned it up loud and twirled to look at herself in the mirror. She looked like a hot mess for sure, but she didn't care. The only thing she cared about was the music that filled the room and soon enough filled her body. Popping and locking, hitting each beat, she felt a little rusty but continue to drown out her insecurities through the music. Soon enough she felt the fluid motions of her hips swaying side to side and was moving on a natural high. Body rolling to the side, she was so into the music that she did not realize she had an audience watching from the windows. Rushing to slide in her socks, she giggled as she kicked and grabbed her crotch in that infamous Michael Jackson style she had loved to use throughout her dancing years. Ending with pumping her chest as the song came to an end, she let out a loud sigh of relief and blushed seeing a person standing right outside her windows.

The blond woman appeared to be delighted to finally be seen as she waved Minzy down. Unsure what the woman wanted, Minzy moved to the front door to open it. "Yes?"

"Hi, I'm sorry for being a creeper but I think you dance very well. Do you by chance own this place? Are you planning on opening a dance studio to teach dance classes?"

"Uh..." honestly Minzy didn't know how to answer that question. She knew she was having some innocent fun, but this woman's questions got her thinking.

"Hopefully you'd be teaching hip hop," the woman continued to chime in. "My son has started to get into listening to hip hop after his uncle had this sudden obsession with it."

Minzy didn't know why she had a sense of relief at the woman clarifying what she was looking for. "I just moved in. I would love to teach your son, but I have no knowledge of running a business or knowing how much to charge you."

The woman clasped her hands together happily, "So you'll teach him?! This is wonderful news. Don't worry my husband is into business stuff so I know he wouldn't mind helping you out. I am also great with publicity stuff so I can get your studio advertised once it gets all figured out. What do you say?"

Minzy was speechless as she shrugged, "I...I don't know what to say. All this from watching me from the window?"

The woman smiled proudly as she placed her hands onto her hips, "I know talent when I see it and you have it!"

"Thank you," Minzy breathed as her eyes started to water. Never in her wildest dreams did she think that what she loved doing could become a reality. "I apologize, what's your name?"

"My name is Chaerin," the blond woman smiled warmly.

Minzy had heard that name before. She had remember thinking how beautiful it sounded. Staring at the woman before her she wondered if she knew a certain someone she had spent time with on a cruise a month ago. The thought was followed with the tightening feeling in her chest, why would she want to know? She mentally slapped herself for being curious when that certain someone wasn't interested in her, "Chaerin...nice to meet you. My name is Minzy."

Minzy was grateful for being invited to dinner out with Chaerin and her family. It was like Chaerin's timing could not have come at a better time. Minzy didn't have time to feel lonely as she was introduced to Jiyong, Chaerin's husband and their very shy son Youngbae who sweetly squeaked that his was six years old. "Say it with your chest," Jiyong teased as he lowered his voice to show his son how to talk like a man while Chaerin rolled her eyes and laughed.

"Don't teach our son how to be stupid around girls he likes," Chaerin eyed her husband.

"Mom," Youngbae whined as he tried to hide himself under the table from embarassment.

"Hey son don't be shy to show the girls you like how you feel or else you'll lose your chance like I almost did with your mom here," Jiyong winked to his wife that blushed and shook her head.

Minzy found it so endearing to see how in love the two were. But not as endearing as it was to see their son go beet red and shrivel up under the table. Grinning she moved underneath the table and smiled as he tried to hide himself behind his mother's legs. "I heard you like hip hop music," Minzy said hoping to get him distracted.

"Yeah," he mumbled as he peeked out to look at her. "Do you like hip hop music too?"

She grinned and nodded, "Yeah I like hip hop music too. Maybe you can come and visit me and we can listen to some hip hop music, maybe even dance to it. What do you say?"

Youngbae slowly moved to sit in front of her and shyly smiled, "Alright, maybe my mom can take me to your place."

"That a boy," Jiyong called out, causing the pair to glance over to see Youngbae's parents beaming with bright smiles.

"Dad," Youngbae groaned to have the three of them laughing.

Minzy felt a bit lighter as she made her way into work. Smiling as she slipped into the meeting in the nick of time. Pulling out her notes, she watched as Bobby went about presenting their current client and their desires. Browsing through the slides, she made notes on certain things that she noticed Bobby kept emphasizing. In between her note taking she found herself making sketches on the back of the papers as she visualized the space and what the client was wanting and expecting. By the end of the meeting she had a few rough sketches and continued to add a few minor details here and there as others filed out or lingered to chat with one another for a little bit. Nodding to herself, she didn't realize that she was the last to leave outside of the presenter Bobby who kept an ever present eye on her throughout the meeting. Whether she knew it or not, he kept a very close eye on how she was doing in the company. He wanted her to succeed and make her own impact on the company without him having to use his influence. Gratefully since she had taken her part time position she had hit the ground running. She surpassed his expectations as well as his collegues. She was welcomed and easily fit right in. Not to mention some of the male collegues taking an interest of having a new pretty face in the office. She had been the talk of the town among the males and sometimes Bobby would find himself fuming and yelling at them to quit it. But that was beside the point at the moment as he watched her sketch. Flashes of when he had first laid eyes on her ran through his mind. They were freshmen in college and she was one of the two women in their class, being as their field was male dominant. But she held her own. Sketching some of the most fascinating designs he had seen at such a young age when he could barely get a few squares in. Pushing his past aside, he called her attention. "What do you have there?"

Pulling herself out of her design, Minzy kept her gaze on her sketches and shrugged, "Just some rough...rough drafts of ideas."

"Let me see," Bobby said as he made his way over to her. Picking up the closest sketch, his mind flashed back to the past again. She was still as brilliant and sharp as when he had first met her. But he couldn't gawk over it, not wanting to show favoritism. "It's looking good. I think by the end of the month we might even get you promoted to full time."

Minzy pressed her lips into a thin line as she felt hesitant, "Actually...I think I like being part time."

Bobby was a little taken aback. Most people jumped with excitement hearing that they would get a promotion, but then again Minzy wasn't like most people. The thought made his chest tighten as he tried to not think about their complicated relationship. "Don't you want full time? I mean, even my boss who is in retirement has been pestering me to get this part timer he's been hearing about to full time. Minzy you are a talented interior designer. You shouldn't let your talents go to waste."

"I'm not saying I'm quitting," she clarified with a small smile. "All I'm saying is that I like where I'm at right now." Glancing at the time, she sighed as she realized it was time for the next meeting to start. Picking up her papers, she nodded. "I have to go. I have another meeting to get to." Waving goodbye, she didn't give Bobby a chance to say another word as he watched her walk away from him like he was a fleeting thought at least that was what he was feeling.

Minzy laughed as she waved a no thank you to Bobby who insisted on taking her home. She honestly didn't mind walking home and actually found it soothing to unwind with her ear buds blasting her music as she mindlessly thought of routines to match it. Finally giving in as Bobby continue to slowly drive by the curb, she made her way to the car. Shaking her head as she saw how his face brightened as she got in the car. "You know I could've walked."

"I know, but I got off early today and wanted to see how your place was coming along," it was half true. He purposely left for the day when she did. He couldn't get her off his mind and he finally gave into the temptation trying to spend some time with her. Though they agreed to act professional and keep their connection out of the office, technically they were no longer in the office. He had given her some space to collect herself from the shambles he had regrettably put her in. Helping her find her own space, he remembered how she had convinced him to skip study time to go to some hip hop dance shows. It was his perfect apology gift to her for his lack of tlc, tender love and care, she deserved. Hearing her cheer at the hip hop music he was playing, he couldn't stop the grin that graced his lips as she subconsciously turned up the stereo and began to dance. He chuckled and bobbed his head to the music feeling like they were back in the past where they danced in the car at the end of their dates. The ride came to an end a little too soon for his liking as he pulled up to the curb. He mentally slapped himself for finding a place so close to their work.

Minzy knew how Bobby always liked to turn the music low by the end of the ride and did so for him. "Thanks for the ride."

"Minzy wait," Bobby called after her in a panic as she opened the door. Watching as she stopped to look back at him over her shoulders she looked at him with an expectant look, "Did you want to go out for dinner?"

"Right now," she raised her brow at him.

He sheepishly grinned and nodded, "Is that okay?"

"Can we try for another time," she asked. Seeing the sadness cross his face, she was quick to inform him why. "It's not that I don't want to. I just...I have my first dance lesson I'm teaching tonight." Seeing how his face went from sadness to surprise she chuckled, "Yeah, it's the reason why I want to stay part time. I'm going to be using this studio as a hip hop dance studio for children. Not so sure I want to be teaching older kids or even adults just yet."

Her revelation made him relax as he smiled over to her, "Really? That's great to hear. Invite me to your first dance recitial. I'd love to come and show my support."

She smiled brightly at him, he was always so supportive. It was one of the reasons why it was so easy to fall in love with him. "Thanks, I'll let you know for sure. See you next week. I'll be emailing my sketches to the team so go easy on me when you see them alright?" Hopping out, she waved goodbye as she turned to enter the studio.

Minzy smiled and waved at the shy Youngbae who hid behind Chaerin as they entered the studio. "Hi guys welcome!"

"Hi Minzy," Chaerin smiled as she looked around the charming studio. Taking a seat next to the small table that had a bottled water, she was fairly impressed at how Minzy was so quick to take to her advice. "Go enjoy your first class with your girlfr..." she paused as she caught herself when Youngbae glowered at her. "I mean go and enjoy your first dance class."

Minzy pretended to not hear Chaerin's teasing as she turned towards the mirrors and pressed play on the music. "Come on Youngbae we have to stretch first." She watched from the mirrors as he shyly shuffled over and stood next to her copying her motions. "There you go. We want to make sure we get a good stretch okay," she said as he followed her movements.

At the end of their first dance lesson, Minzy encouraged Youngbae to freestyle. Telling him to move to the music however he feels like it. Clapping and stepping from side to side, she watched as Youngbae hesitantly looked from Minzy and then to his mother. The whole time he had got into the habbit of following everything his teacher was doing and now he was being asked to move all on his own. "Don't make me come over there and show you how to do it," Chaerin stood up and started to do some goofy dance moves that had Minzy laughing.

This made Youngbae huff out of frustration as he glared at his mom who suddenly held her hands up and sat down. Sighing, he listened to the music and did what he was told. He bobbed his head at first and then the movement went down to his shoulders to his hips and then his legs joined to where he was then moving like a dancing machine. Minzy was fairly impressed by how naturally the boy had powerful moves. Dancing was second nature to him, she thought as she joined in and even Chaerin couldn't help but dance from her seat as she cheered her son on. When the song ended, Minzy was filled with so much she raced up to Youngbae and scooped him in her arms to hug him fiercely.

"You're an amazing dancer," she breathed before placing him back down. Smiling as he was blushing so hard, he shyly rocked from one foot to the other not knowing how to take the compliment.

"Say thank you silly," Chaerin chuckled as she came to stand with the pair.

Youngbae shyly hid behind Chaerin and mumbled, "Thank you."

"You're welcome. We'll see you again in two days? We'll have class three times a week okay," Minzy said as she walked over to the small table and grabbed a water bottle for herself and Youngbae.

"Okay," he stayed shyly hiding as his hand came out to take the water bottle and hide again.

Chaerin rolled her eyes and laughed, "You're just like your father I swear." Turning her attention to Minzy she smiled, "Great job! I wasn't expecting him to be so into it but you're a natural. You almost had me wishing that I was taking the classes."

"Mom she's my teacher," Youngbae spoke up in almost a possessive tone which had both women stiffling a laugh.

"Alright, she can be your teacher but she's still my friend first," Chaerin smiled. "Minzy I'm having a brunch with a couple of my girlfriends tomorrow. They all have kids that would most definitely love to take your class. They also have lots of money so we can get this place booming with surround sound speakers."

Minzy chuckled at Chaerin being such a visionary woman, "Will you be my manager or business partner? I could probably handle one kid, but a bunch of kids and their parents sounds like a lot."

"Don't worry about it. Your business partner here will take care of it. You do the teaching and I'll make sure that everything else with be taken care of," Chaerin brightly smiled.

"Really? I mean...thank you. I guess I can teach Youngbae for free then..."

"Hush," Chaerin looked at her as if she had said something offense. "Of course Jiyong can pay for his son's lessons. You deserve to get paid for your efforts and when you start rolling in the dough then we'll talk more on paying me."

Minzy couldn't believe just how wonderful Chaerin was as she bid farewell to the two. Smiling to herself as she closed up shop, she made her way to her apartment feeling like she was on top of the world. Nothing could get her down, nothing but the sudden cramps that jolted through her stomach. Hissing at the sudden pain, she drank more water and realized that she had worked all day with little to no food in her system. Quickly ordering some food, she made her way to the shower knowing exactly what those cramps meant. It meant that her time of the month was just around the corner. Groaning as she made her way to the showers, she hoped that this period would pass by quickly so she could go back to living her best life.

Chaerin was not lying when she said she had a group of friends that would gladly have their children be in her class. Now she had five students Youngbae, Seungri, Seunghyun, Daesung, and Hayi the one and only girl. Smiling at her group of kids, she glanced at the mothers who were laughing and socializing in the sitting area she had to expand and to which Chaerin so helpfully put together for her. Chaerin was like the team mom have you, carrying the conversations as well as keeping the mothers happy with light snacks and drinks. Meanwhile Minzy did her best to teach their children how to dance.

Checking each one of their abilities, Minzy encouraged them to freestyle. Youngbae appeared to spring to life as the music started and was the first to bust a move as the others began to join in. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves and she even laughed at Seunghyun who stiffly tried his best to catch the beat but kept missing it by a half a second. She knew she would have to spend a little more time with Seunghyun, but she had faith that he would catch up. Encouraging her group to keep dancing, she was excited to see how well they would be able to learn a couple dances.

After all that was said and done, Minzy was so impressed to see Chaerin cleaning up the mother's lounging area after everyone else had left. She couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude as she walked up to the woman and suddenly embraced her tightly, "Thank you so much!"

Chaerin smiled as she leaned into the hug with the trash she had in hand, "What are friends for?"

"Don't take this the wrong way, but I do consider you as a friend. I ruined what little friendships I had when I was in my last relationship..." it was then that a wave of emotion hit her. "He was all I had and when I realized that I wasn't all he had it hit me..."

"Oh sweetie did he cheat on you," Chaerin frowned as she pulled her new friend into her arms again.

Minzy sniffled as she shook her head in Chaerin's embrace, "No not exactly. I know this is going to sound weird but it was like he was married to work. His ambitions, his dreams were what drew me to him, but it also drew me away. I was tired of waiting and tired of being in the relationship by myself." Minzy thought of last week where Bobby had insisted of giving her a ride home. She knew he was hoping to rekindle their relationship again, but the last few years had her hesitating. Though she did have a class to teach, she did in fact have some time to spare before hand to go to dinner with him. She knew what would transpire if she went to dinner. She would fall back to him again and then what? She knew she would end up waiting for him again and again and again.

"Minzy," Chaerin softly said, bringing her back to the present. "Believe me when I say this, I understand more than you know," Chaerin pulled away just enough to gaze at her with a gentle smile. "Do what is best for you, you hear me? You deserve your happily ever after now, okay?"

Minzy sniffled and laughed as Youngbae hugged her leg, "I can be your happily ever after."

She bent down to hug the young boy and was about to tell him that she would like that before she felt the sudden sharp pains in her stomach. Biting back the pain, she huffed as she placed her hands onto her stomach. Trying not to cuss, she wondered why her cramps were lasting so long without her period happening. "Minzy are you okay," Chaerin asked seeing how a thin sheen of sweat started to form on her forehead. Reaching out, she pressed the back of her hand to Minzy's forehead to see that she was burning up. Minzy jolted to stand as she raced off to force the back doors open. Before she could reach the lid of the trash can she was spewing vomit. Holding her stomach as it projected out by the trash can, she was surprised by the large amount. Spitting up the remnants that were left in , she balanced herself onto the trash can feeling light headed. Chaerin was by her side, rubbing soothing circles onto her back as she encouraged her to let it all out. When she was sure that Minzy was done, she encouraged Minzy to let her take her to the hospital.

"No, I'm fine. I probably just need to rest," she mumbled as she was grateful to Chaerin who helped back into the building. She was also grateful that she did not have to work until the day after. She had a day to recooperate and hopefully let her stupid period do its thing. She didn't know why her periods were always so damn harsh, but they were. She figured that her period was just building up from how much she was on the go. Stumbling when she got to the stairs, she felt herself being pulled away.

"Nope, we're going to the hospital now," Chaerin said as Youngbae rushed ahead to hold the doors for them. "Now let's get you in the car," Chaerin said as Minzy mumbled and groaned in disapproval.

Minzy found it ridiculous that she was at the hospital. Yes Chaerin was a friend, but a new one at that. She didn't know just how bad her periods could get. She figured her body was just hankering down to go through its monthly cleanse. Finding no use in arguing with Chaerin who had took charge to ask her questions and fill out the paper work, she was grateful to find a comfortable spot to sit in and close her eyes for a little while. "Minzy, Minzy c'mon," Chaerin said waking her from her sleep. When they were in the patient room, she went through all the routine vital checks and questioning.

"Have you had in the last few weeks?"

Minzy placed her hands over Youngbae's ears as she sheepishly asked, "When you say the last few weeks, would a few months ago count?"

The nurse nodded as she turned to the cupboard in the room and handed her a cup, "I need you to pee in this cup."

"I..." Minzy didn't know why she had fully awaken and become anxious all in a matter of seconds. It hit her like a light had gone off in her head, she couldn't recall having her period since being back from her cruise. She had been sick the first month and then busy getting her life back together. "," she breathed as she glanced over to Chaerin who without judgement nodded for her to do what the nurse had asked of her. Rising to her feet, she slowly moved to the restrooms pointed out to her and locked herself into the stall. Sitting on the toilet she trembled with fear of the unknown. Looking at the cup she clutched in her hand, she had an intution that there was no need for it. Millions of feelings and thoughts rushed in her mind, one being that she was a complete idiot for thinking that her life was going to be oh so perfect. But here she was, pulling her pants down as she tried to relax and pee into that damn cup. Enclosing her warm urine, she sighed heavily as she washed her hands and returned to the group that awaited her. Finding it hard to crack a smile at Chaerin as she handed the nurse the cup, she was grateful to see that Youngbae had fallen asleep in her lap. "I ed up," Minzy found herself breathing as she cracked with emotion. Plopping down next to Chaerin, she stared down at her hands as her month long cruise came pouring into her mind as if she had just stepped off the boat moments ago. The tears of disbelief that she was pregnant, but more so by a man that she knew she would never see again ate at her as she broke down in tears.

Chaerin pulled Minzy into a side hug with Youngbae fast asleep in her arms. "Don't worry we'll figure this out. I'll be here every step of the way."

The test results she held in her hands cemented what her intuition had already told her. She was pregnant. She was three months and a week pregnant to be exact. Holding the results in hand, she gazed at her side profile and didn't really see a difference. She did feel like she had put on a few pounds, but that was normal. Her weight always fluctuated. She appeared to still be her curvy shape, but she figured it was too soon to really see anything. Tucking the results back into her dress pants pocket, she wiped at her tear filled eyes before making her way back out into another meeting. She had to push her feelings aside even though they were overwhelming. She only worked twice a week, she figured she would just push through it. Taking the seat closest to the door, she kept her gaze down as Bobby entered. Hearing his voice made her shiver as she clutched her pen in hand trying to keep her emotions at bay. As the meeting went on, she struggled to focus as she watched Bobby passionately share the ideas of their group for the next project. Her heart was heavy as she felt a mix of emotions that had nothing to do with the meeting.

Minzy thought back to when she first met that ambitious man when they were just starting out in college. She was nervous as hell being one of two only girls in class. To calm those nerves she thought of dance, sketching a beautiful dance studio that she could pop, lock, and drop it freely in. Not realizing someone was watching her, she was impressed by the boyish grin of the young man that greeted her and wanted to see her work. Though she thought nothing of it, she let him see and that was the beginning of it all. The beginning to a blooming relationship and what she thought was the beginning to her happily ever after. She had loved dance no doubt, but the one thing or shall she say, one person that trumped dance was him. She loved him and wanted to have his children. The thought of having his child had her subconsciously place her hand on her stomach as it all came crashing down. She loved him, but then found herself loving another man. Another man she so foolishly thought would be waiting for her on the dock. But to no avail he never showed and left her with only his first name to go off of. And now that she thought about it, he had also left the baby that was growing in her belly.

"Minzy is everything okay," Bobby asked seeing her in a daze at the end of the meeting. She looked at him with tear filled eyes and shook her head before storming out. Alarmed by her abrupt leave, he went chasing after her. Glancing around as she had some how made it to the elevators. He was racing down the stairs and bursting through the doors as she walked at a quick pace. "Minzy please," he almost found himself running as he moved to block her way to find her crushing into his arms. Keeping a firm embrace on her, he could feel her trembling in his arms. "Please tell me what's going on."

She felt guilty in his arms as he led her back to her place. Opening the studio, she invited him in as she sat in the lounge area. Patting the seat next to her on the sofa, she cried as their eight year relationship flooded her mind. "I am a weak woman. A bad one that doesn't deserve to be near you," she cried harder.

"Minzy what's going on. Please I don't understand," he asked confused at where this was all coming from. He immediately thought back to the previous week. "I...I'm sorry if asking you to dinner was too soon..."

"No Bobby...please just let me finish," she shook her head and sniffled trying to stop her crying so she could make sense of it all. "There is no easy way of saying this," she took a deep breath and exhaled as she pulled the paper from her pocket and clutched it in her hands. Staring at the paper, she thought back to when it all made sense. "I want you to know that I love you. I wanted my happily ever after with you. I thought I could wait and be patient as you chased after your dreams to be at the top in your career but in doing so it felt like I became second. It didn't bother me at first, but as the years went on you moved up in your career and we went nowhere. Don't get me wrong, I am so proud of you and all that you've accomplished. But when I had placed all my bets on our cruise being our chance to progress into more than just a girlfriend status I was foolishly reminded that it wasn't our time. I had to keep waiting and being patient. So when the cruise member had told me it was time to decide to get on the ship or not I tossed my phone into the ocean and boarded the ship. The first three days were brutal as I cried my eyes out feeling so dumb that I would ever think that I would compare to your work. Then..." she paused as she thought of that new bar tender. Brushing the thought, she continued, "Then I made a decision to stop waiting and being patient because I deserve to have my happily ever after now. This is the part where I become weak and a bad woman to you." She paused as she gazed into his eyes, "I will understand if you hate me and don't ever want to see me again because I made a friend and it bloomed into more than that quickly. Without realizing it I fell in love with someone else and was ready to accept him as my new happily ever after. But when I didn't see him on the dock it was then that it hit me that my happily ever after was all in my head and that it doesn't exist." Opening the paper, she frowned as she handed it to him, "I'm pregnant by a man who I will never see again."

Bobby sat staring at her results and let her words sink in. Crumbling the paper in his hands, he turned to the woman who awaited his reply. Pulling her into his arms, he felt his chest tighten as she coughed a sob into his chest. Feeling her clutch tightly on his shirt and cry, his heart swelled with deep sorrow for her. He felt like the worst person in the world knowing this would have all been happy news if he had showed up for the cruise he had promised to go on with her. She wouldn't have moved out of his now trashed apartment. She wouldn't of been just a collegue. She wouldn't have been pregnant by another man and she would most definitely not be sobbing her eyes out calling herself a horrible person. The guilt that washed over him had him holding onto her tightly. He had done this to her. He was the bad man that didn't deserve to be in her presence. "We're going to get through this," he breeathed as he kissed the top of her head. It was the least he could do for the mess he had put her in.

Minzy felt a grin tug at her lips as she stared at her side profile in the various mirrors that adorned the studio walls. She had formed a little gut, which made her look chubby more than any thing. It was kind of cute, she thought as she heard the door chime open with chattering and running footsteps heading into her direction. Taking that as her cue, she hit play on her new surround sound system and began stretching to have the children join in. "Alright Hayi show these boys how it's done," Minzy called to which the boys groaned before Hayi proudly stepped forward and started moving to their latest routine. Turning to face the children, she clicked play on the song and watched as Hayi led the group. Grinning as she watched Seunghyun concentrate and count out every step, she pointed at him nodding in approval at how he was able to keep the beat. As they took their final pose Minzy clapped her hands giving them a round of applause. "I think we''re going to be ready for a dance recital in a month what do you guys think?" All of them cheered in excitement, except for Youngbae who stood wide eyed with fear. Seeing his expression, she smiled knowingly as she told the group to run the song again while she talked with Youngbae. Taking him to the furthest corner from everyone, she took a seat on the ground and patted the area next to her. Youngbae soon follwed suit and sat next to her as he sat staring at the others practicing.

"Do we have to do a recital," he asked.

She was quite for a moment as she thought about her shy student's question, "Youngbae do you see that woman over there."

"My mom," he questioned as he wondered just who she was referring to.

"Yes, your mom. She is the best."

"Yeah, she is," he smiled proudly.

"And just like your mom, you are the best. Youngbae you are one of the best dancers I know and you need to share that talent of yours with the world. I promise you that when that spot light hits you you'll want to give it your all. I'm telling you it's the best feeling ever. The best for the best," she motioned to him.

His eyes glowed as he tried to envision her words, "Uh...it sounds scary but I'll try."

"Good, that's all I ask," she smiled. "Now go and give your best." When Youngbae scampered off to rejoin the group, she was greeted by Chaerin who was handing her a water bottle. "Thanks."

"You're going to be a great mother," Chaerin sighed with content seeing her shy son boldly move to the music. Minzy laughed off her comment as she pushed herself off of the ground. Grunting in the process, finding it a little more difficult to get off the floor today. "It's only the beginning," Chaerin said as she helped her the rest of the way up.

"That's comforting," Minzy shook her head as she heard the door chime to see Bobby walking in. Smiling at him, she waved and he did the same as he lifted a bag showing her that he brought her lunch.

"Don't keep your boyfriend waiting. We know how busy he must be," Chaerin teased. Though it was good natured, she was right. Minzy felt a little bad that in the past month he was really making an effort to see her every day. Always showing up with lunch in hand and sometimes coming around dinner time. But she had to put a stop to that, not wanting to give him mixed messages about them rekindling their relationship. She had a baby on the way that had reminded him from time to time was not his. She couldn't make time for a relationship when her time was taken by two jobs and a baby. At least that was her excuse as she made her way to him.

"Bobby what are you doing here," she shook her head as the mothers all quietly watched. "You shouldn't have."

"But I want to," he shrugged indifferent to what she thought was troublesome. Finding out that she was pregnant ignited something in him. He wanted to be there for her more than ever. He even dreamt of holding the baby and calling it his, even though he was told countless times it wasn't. Even so, he was there with food in his hands asking her to take a break and eat with him. Watching the children give him curious yet judging eyes, especially the one who he learned had a serious crush on Minzy, he knew they were keeping a watchful eye on their precious teacher. Thankful to see Chaerin take over the class, he felt more at ease as she led him to her apartment. Taking a seat across from her he smiled, "How is your day?"

"It's good," she shrugged as she began to inhale her food. Within minutes it was gone and he hurried to catch up to her. "What's this nonsense I hear about the big boss coming to town to grace us with his presence," she asked remembering how wordy the email was describing this mysterious boss.

Bobby laughed, "It's been a couple of months since we've seen our boss. He's been traveling the world and living up his retirement."

"Okay," she still didn't see the big deal of why he was all the office had been buzzing about the past week. She was grateful she only worked twice a work with how easily gossip thrived in the work place.

"You should be excited as well. I've been telling the boss about you and who knows maybe we can get you a raise," he shrugged. "You deserve it for all the work you've done."

She smiled as she nodded. It had been great outside of all the buzzing gossip to work there. Her work was chosen a couple times and she had become one of the people that her coworkers sought out for interior designer advice and support when presenting a plan. "Thanks, it would help me pay for some prop items I'm thinking of getting for the upcoming recital."

"A recital," Bobby's eyes lit up. "Maybe the company could sponsor it. We are always looking for ways to support our community. Why not support our community along with our employees? It's a win win situation."

"You think," Minzy brightened up. "It would be such a great help."

Bobby nodded nonchalantly, "Of course, I know our boss will approve it. He is so kind hearted and has a soft spot for children." Feeling his phone buzz, he frowned hating that his time with her had flown by. "I gotta go..."

"I know, it's fine. Thanks for lunch," she smiled warmly at him. Standing to her feet, she walked with him past the curious eyes and waved goodbye as he left. Turning to the prying eyes, the mothers quickly started up their conversation while the kids pretended to keep practicing. Shaking her head at the nosey bunch, she made her way back to the kids and asked them if they were ready to learn a new dance move.

Minzy was grateful that her baby bump was forming. It seemed like she got less male attention and more females wanting to get the scoop. Politely excusing herself from the women who tried to give her pregnancy advice, she made her way to the bathroom and smiled to herself as she rubbed soothing circles onto her belly. "Today we meet the big boss. Do you think he'll give us all the money we deserve or should we steal it," she asked her belly as if she were talking to the baby. Pretending to hear the response, she nodded, "You're right. We'll steal it all." Giggling at her little conversation, she splashed some cool water onto her fresh face. Getting showered was a task in itself, which left her with no energy or will to put on makeup. But honestly she didn't have anyone to look good for. The only thing she had to worry about was feeling good for the baby. Surprised by how jam packed the conference room was, she settled into a small space in the back corner.

"Here Minzy," one of her female coworkers waved to her. Showing that she had saved her a seat. Grateful to have such a considerate coworker, she smiled and thanked her as the room went quiet. The clatter of shoes entering the room had Minzy feeling anxious, but she finsihed her conversation with her coworker first before turning her attention to the front of the room.

Seeing Bobby, she smiled and was instantly met with one back. He looked good up front. The way he could demand the attention of everyone in the room in an instant was his gift for sure she thought. As she was reflecting all the great qualities she saw in him, she watched as he spoke up. "Welcome everyone, it is my honor and privilege to welcome back our esteemed great leader and boss."

Unsure if she had heard right, the loud cheering and clapping filled the room and her question was immediately answered as the assumed boss moved to step forward. Subconsciously shielding her stomach in a protective manner, she sat in shock at who was standing before her. It was that new bar tender. The man she had promised to live in the present with. The man who she had fallen for so quickly and so hard. The man that had left her on the dock alone. It was the father of her child, Mino. Coming to the present, she was grateful to see that everyone was standing to give him a standing ovation. Perfect she thought as she weasled her way through the crowd and out of the conference room. Darting for the elevator, she slipped in and made her way out of the building. When her feet hit the concrete she took off running. Running as hard as she could, she made her way to the studio and quickly called Chaerin.

"Hello," Chaerin answered right away.

Ignoring Bobby's phone call, she raced up the stairs and bursted through her apartment, "Chaerin. Chaerin I have to go. I need to go now." She began to sweat profusely as she began to throw clothes onto the bed.

"What? What's going on," Chaerin asked hearing the panic in her friend's voice. "Where are you Minzy?"

"I'm in my apartement," she said as she set the phone down and put her on speaker so she could continue grabbing things to pack. "I have to go Chaerin right now," Minzy said in a craze.

"Alright I'm on my way. Just wait for me," Chaerin said as she hung up. Minzy felt her feet pulsing as she sat onto the pile of clothes to take a break. The pause was all it took for the surpressed memories to come hitting her like a tsunami. Drowning in her emotions she had bottled up, she was in tears as she craddled her stomach. Ignoring her phone that kept buzzing, she cried harder as she found it hard to breathe. "Minzy," Chaerin came busting through the door to find her a crying mess. "Minzy what is going on," Chaerin asked as she took hold of her trembling friend.

"I...I just lost my job," Minzy cried feeling as though she was on the verge of losing her mind as well.

Chaerin had cancelled dance lessons for the day and turned off the annoying phone of Minzy's that kept showing Bobby's name. The last time she has seen Minzy in such a state was when she had found out that she was pregnant. But this time, it seemed worse. Worse in the sense that she stayed glued to her continually sobbing without saying another word. For a moment she wondered if the interior designer job really meant that much to her, but then brushed off the thought knowing better. She had had the conversation with Minzy, if she could really turn her studio into a school with more students she would leave that job. It had to be Bobby, Chaerin thought as she heard a soft knock at the door which made Minzy stiffen. Chaerin gave her a reassuring squeeze as she moved to answer the door. Cracking the door open, she glared at Bobby who stood anxious. "What do you want?"

"Uh...is Minzy here?"

"She said she lost her job so I don't see the point of your visit," she held her stare down.

"What," he breathed in disbelief. "She didn't lose her job..."

"I quit," Minzy croaked hoping that the conversation would end sooner rather than later.

Chaerin nodded as she shrugged, "My apologies, I meant she quit."

"She quit? Why is she quitting," he asked in a panic so confused by her abrupt change of heart. "I was going to introduce her to the boss and talk about the sponsorship..."

"I don't want it," she roared causing both Chaerin and Bobby to jump. "I don't want any of it, so just leave me the hell alone," she screamed before storming to the bathroom and slamming it shut.

"I think it's time for you to leave," Chaerin said as she closed the door on an even more confused and bewildered Bobby. Turning around, she made her way towards the bathroom and slowly opened the door to find Minzy balled up between the toilet and shower. She had her face buried in her hands, no doubt it would have been in her lap if not for the baby bump. "Minzy dear, you need to calm down. Stress is not good for the baby." Sniffling, she moved her hands down to her stomach and let the tear drops fall onto it. Giving slow rubs, she focused on her breathing and tried to calm herself down for the baby's sake. "Good, now let's go sit in a more comfortable spot for my nephew."

"Nephew," Minzy mumbled through her crying.

Chaerin shrugged as she helped Minzy back to the bed. Tossing the clothes to the floor, she pulled the covers up and over her, "Yes I can feel it. It's going to be a baby boy."

"A baby boy," Minzy laid with the tears still falling from her eyes. "He better look like me," she huffed causing Chaerin to laugh.

"It's usually said that the first born girl looks like the father so maybe it's true the other way around," Chaerin shrugged as she sat combing her fingers through Minzy's hair and lightly massaging her scalp. "Do you want to talk about it?" Shaking her head no, she felt her bottom lip quiver threatening to send her into another crying fit. "Then let's talk about this recital coming up. It's in a few weeks and we should probably start buying those props you were talking to me about."

The thought made Minzy cringe, she was supposed to use her next check with that supposed wage increase. But instead she lay with neither and now not knowing how to afford the props. "I don't have the money to buy them," she mumbled feeling an on coming headache. She had hoped with getting a raise and the sponsorship it could pay for the recital, but now that was out of the question.

"Who says you have to pay for it all," Chaerin countered. "Did you forget that your students come from well off families? And I don't mean to boast, but I may have a few friends that would love to help donate to the cause. Don't lose hope, we got this."

Minzy turned to look up at Chaerin that stared down with a loving motherly smile, "I love you, know that right? I don't know what me and baby did to deserve such an angel like you in our lives, but I'm glad I have you in our lives."

"I love you too. You're like a sister I never had," Chaerin responded to see Minzy's eyes turn misty. "Now get some rest. I'm going to get some food and have Jiyong entertain Youngbae and the guests we were going to have over tonight."

"Go and be with them. I should be fine," Minzy reluctently moved away from Chaerin. She felt guilty that she was adding more onto Chaerin's plate. The way Chaerin carried herself, she wished she could be as strong as her. "I think I should have some left overs in the fridge..."

"Nonsense," Chaerin waved her off. "I'll be back. Get some rest and I mean it. I don't want you stressing out my nephew." She pointed at Minzy and gave her a stern look, "I mean it."

When Minzy was left alone, she smiled to herself as she did what she was told. Pulling the covers over herself, she let the exhaustion of her day sink in and let her mind surrender to the dream world.

Minzy awoke to the soft rubbing on her arm. Slowly blinking her eyes open, she gazed up to see Chaerin smiling down at her. Still a bit confused by her sudden appearance and being pulled out of her dreams, she looked to see Chaerin moving towards the kitchen table where Chaerin waved her over to where she had set up some food. Mindlessly sitting up, she yawned and stretched before slowly dragging herself to where Chaerin was. "What time is it," Minzy mumbled to see that it was dark out.

Chaerin shrugged as she began to scoop up a plate for Minzy, "Sorry I'm late. Our company tonight stayed a bit longer than expected."

Minzy dismissed her pleasantries as she gladly accepted her food, "Thanks for the food."

"I've already taken the liberty to cancel the classes for the weekend. I think you've been over working yourself and it's not healthy for the baby. So this weekend it's me and you what do you say? We can have a spa day. Movie night. Have Jiyong chaueffur us around as we shop. Have a picnic day in the park with Youngbae. You name it, we'll do it." Minzy sat speechless as she looked at Chaerin who looked excited. "And don't you worry about paying for anything. Think of this as me spoiling my nephew."

Minzy grinned at how confident Chaerin was about the of the baby. She wondered if this excitement would be the same if she found out it was a girl. Minzy knew better as she shrugged, "Just being with you and your family is good enough for me."

"I knew you would say that, so I went ahead and planned out our weekend. Tomorrow is our spa day and end the night with a movie night whatever kind of movies you're into. Then Sunday we can go for a cruise and have a nice picnic in the park. How does that sound," Chaerin smiled.

"It sounds like the best weekend ever," Minzy giggled as Chaerin squealed in delight as she joined in. She revealed her guests had kept her busy and didn't really have time to sit and eat. Either way, Minzy was grateful. She knew this weekend couldn't have come at a better time.

Minzy had never been pampered like she had been for the spa day. Whatever mud they had her wrapped in made her skin as smooth as a baby's bottom. Walking a little taller after a deep tissue massage, she waved goodbye to Chaerin who had dropped her off after a good lunch they had when everything was said and done. "I'll be back tonight with all the action, comedy, and romance movies."

"Don't forget the snacks," Minzy teasingly warned.

Chaerin chuckled as she nodded, "Of course."

As Chaerin drove off, Minzy smiled to herself as she made her way towards the studio door. "Minzy," the all too familiar voice called out to her from behind. Stilling in her movements, she glanced over her shoulder to see Bobby standing with relieved look. "Is everything...okay? I mean...did I do something wrong?"

Turning to face him, she felt guilty as she could see the torment on his face. He seemed to be still in his dress suit he wore the day before. "Do you want to come in," she asked to see his face light up as he nodded. Turning back to the door, she opened it to let him in. Leading him up to her apartment, she motioned for him to have a seat at the kitchen table. Grabbing two water bottles, she walked back to the table to place one before him and took a seat. Sitting across from him, she hated herself for making him feel like he was the cause of her troubles. "Bobby to be honest everything is not okay." She watched as he stiffened and felt horrible that she was hurting him. "But it's not because of you. You did nothing wrong. I just...I can't work there anymore."

Bobby was quite as he asked what was weighing heavy on his mind, "Can I ask why? Why can't you work there anymore?"

How could she tell him that his boss was the reason? His boss was someone she had to avoid at all costs. She had so foolishly wore her heart on her sleeve and was taken advantage of by him. Shifting her gaze to her belly, she placed a hand onto it. Though he had shattered her heart in pieces, she knew she couldn't let that happen again. She had a little soul to protect now. "I can't...for our sake." Gazing into the eyes of a past lover, she hoped it would suffice. "Thank you for helping me get my feet back on the ground, but I just need to focus on me and the baby. I don't think I can give you what you're hoping for."

"And what do you think I'm hoping for," he asked, unsure if he really wanted to know the answer that was coming.

"Bobby I love you, but...I'm no longer in love with you. I wish you the best in life and know you will get it. It just isn't with me," Minzy sadly smiled. "We can't...no I can't go back now and this baby is proof of it. Please understand, it's no longer about just me. I need to be strong for the both of us."

Bobby wanted to hate her. He wanted to lash out. Many horrible things ran through his mind in that moment. But the words that left his lips were the complete opposite, "I messed up didn't I?" Shaking his head, he looked her in the eyes out of desperation, "So...you're telling me you're in love with the man that did this to you?"

It was Minzy's turn to go quiet, she didn't know how to answer it. Especially since it was Bobby of all people asking her, "If you must know, yes. But it doesn't matter what I feel because he's no longer a part of my life. And he made it very clear that he didn't want to be a part of it when he left me looking stupid on the dock alone."

Both went quiet as they each mourned the loss of their relationship. It was Bobby who took the initiative to reach out and place his hand onto hers. Softly grinning over at her, he shrugged, "Well look at us, stupid fools in love."

Minzy shook her head and laughed as she moved to stand. Seeing Bobby stand before her, she could see the heart break written all over his face. Cupping his face in her hands she smiled up at him as he stared at her with glossy eyes. "Stupid and foolish but forever friends." Kissing his cheek, she moved to wrap her arms around his waist. Burying her face into his chest, she felt the comfort of his arms wrap around her.

Minzy smiled as she walked Bobby out. Though he tried to linger, Chaerin walking up with bags cut that struggle to get him to leave short. Minzy walked to Chaerin and took some bags from Chaerin who looked Bobby up and down suspiciously. "Have a good night," Minzy spoke up before Chaerin could say anything snarky.

"I'll see you around," Bobby waved as he turned to leave.

After Chaerin and Minzy were back inside her apartment, Chaerin was quick to ask. "So uh...are things good with lover boy?"

Minzy chuckled as she nodded, "We're friends." Chaerin nodded knowing very well it must have turned out that way more so because Minzy had wanted it that way.

"Okay, so then what should we watch," Chaerin asked knowing that Minzy would tell her the details eventually.

"How about a romance? Seeing as that is the only time I'll be getting that in my life any time soon," Minzy shrugged as she seemed more interested in the snacks that Chaerin had brought.

Chaerin was correct about her intiuition, Minzy ended up spilling the beans during the movie. She didn't leave out any details as she ended with her sad revelation except for his name. She couldn't bring herself to saying Mino's name out loud because it was the only real thing to attach what real and raw emotions she felt for him. But even then, he could have lied about his name. "The man I now love doesn't love me back. But that's okay, I have your nephew that I can give all my love to."

Chaerin tilted her head to the side as curiosity ate at her. She wanted to know who this mystery man was. The only thing she knew was that he was a bastard that had her dear friend knocked up. "Minzy do you want to talk about this guy? I mean, how do you know he doesn't love you?"

Minzy felt a tug at her heart as she thought back to where it all started and sighed, "Even if by some miracle he did love me. I don't think it would last with the baby now in the picture." Yes she had told him about her big dream of having children of her own one day, but she didn't know how he felt about them. Would he really want a baby with a mere stranger? What if he already fathered children, many thoughts ran through her mind of how she really didn't know this man who she thought she loved.

"How would you know that for sure," Chaerin countered, feeling doubt after hearing how magical of a cruise Minzy had.

She pursed her lips tightly together before spewing out her doubts. Retelling parts of her story with the fears of being completey honest and vulnerable with him. She told Chaerin that even if it was magical in the moment he left. He left without an explanation and she had to pick up the pieces. "I never would have imagined that my dream would come true like this. I never thought that I would become a mother alone. But that was okay, because you helped me see that I wasn't alone. I could do hard things even if it was all by myself. Then at work..." She felt like she was back on the dock alone yet again seeing Mino at her work meeting. "What," Minzy asked seeing the way that Chaerin was looking at her. .

"Did you run into this man again," Chaerin finally asked and got her answer when Minzy stiffened. "Did you see him at work," Chaerin followed as Minzy couldn't meet her eyes to answer. Sighing, Chaerin made a mental note to stalk Bobby and find out more about him. She knew he had to work close to where Minzy lived, seeing as he seemed to always find himself at the studio during his lunch breaks. "Minzy you should probably face this guy and tell him how you feel." She held up her hand to stop Minzy from spewing out her refusal of such a crazy idea. "You and this baby need closure. Confront this man. Be strong for your baby."

Minzy sat speechless, of course the thought crossed her mind to confront the bastard and give him a piece of her mind. But then she just couldn't. She couldn't take the rejection that was sure to follow. Oh how she wished she was as strong as the woman who she was looking at. Chaerin was like Wonder Woman in her eyes. A fearless heroine one would stay up reading all night about. "Chaerin I'm not as strong as you. The strongest I can be right now is to keep moving forward, when I don't want to."

Chaerin reached out to take Minzy's hands in hers, "Then we keep moving forward alright?" Minzy nodded, "I think I better go. Youngbae should be getting home after hanging out with his uncle that is back in town."

"The same uncle that got him listening to hip hop music," Minzy asked feeling relieved to finally talk about something other than her sad love life.

"Yeah," Chaerin smiled. "His uncle is actually kind of single maybe I can introduce him..."

It was Minzy's turn to hold her hand up, "Kind of single means he's not. No thank you. Obviously my cruise story had no affect on you. But I don't need another man in my life. The only one I need is your nephew that I'm having in a couple of months."

Chaerin reached out and placed a hand onto Minzy's belly, "My nephew wouldn't mind you having a new friend."

"Shut up," Minzy smacked Chaerin's hand away causing Chaerin to burst into laughter. "Go home already," Minzy stuck her tongue out at Chaerin which caused her to laugh harder.

"Yes I will go home. I'm gonna have Youngbae and Jiyong help me prepare our picnic tomorrow," Chaerin said as she got up. Making her way towards the door she waved, "Who knows, maybe I'll pack extra food just in case Youngbae's uncle stops by."

"Chaerin," Minzy growled.

"Good night," Chaerin sweetly sang as she left. Shaking her head, Minzy sighed as she got up to clean before getting ready for bed.

Minzy smiled as she hopped into the back seat of the car. Glancing around, Minzy noticed that Youngbae was missing. "He's with his uncle," Chaerin spoke up as she looked at Minzy through the mirror to see her scowling at her.

"Youngbae said he had to do something very important to do this morning. He wouldn't share what exactly but had us calling his uncle to come and get him to do whatever he had to do," Jiyong said as he drove off. "When my boy is determined to do something, he does it," Jiyong smiled proudly to himself.

Minzy sighed as she shrugged off her annoyance learning the true nature of why Youngbae was missing. Turning her attention towards the window, she stared outside and found herself leaning against the door. Drifting off, she enjoyed the warm sun shine contrasting against the cool window. Before she knew it, she was brought back to the present as she felt the car come to a stop. Stretching as she opened the door, she grinned seeing the large park they were at. It had hills, trails, large trees, and plush green grass all around making anywhere they picked a good spot to be. Walking towards the back of the car, she was grateful for the cold bottle of water that Chaerin had handed her. Seeing how the pair went about stacking bags onto their arms, she awaited for items to be placed into her hands. But instead Chaerin had Jiyong close the trunk as she nodded for Minzy to follow. "Did you need some help," Minzy asked as she fell into step with Chaerin.

"Yeah, stay hydrated," Chaerin instructed as she walked the trail and made her way up onto the hill. Finding their way on the top, Chaerin glanced around before walking a ways and stopping to place the bags down. Looking through the first bag, she pulled out a large blanket and laid it out. "Come, sit down and drink your water," Chaerin said as she busied herself by going through the bags.

Doing what she was told, she opened her water bottle and sipped on the cool water. It was a nice day out really for a picnic. The sun was up, but there were a few clouds allowing some shade. The blue sky was a nice touch to the endless sea of green. Nature appeared to be on her side as she glanced at the couple who went about setting up the lunch they had prepared. Closing her eyes as she felt a soft breeze brush by, she inhaled deeply feeling a little lighter and wished that she could be as easy breezy as the wind. Her wishes were interrupted as she heard Chaerin answering her phone. "Hello? Where are you guys? Are you almost here?" Minzy didn't know why she was listening in as Chaerin paused to hear the response, "Alright, hurry and drop him off. I don't want to keep my friend waiting. Alright, bye." Minzy was relieved that she wasn't going to have to meet this mysterious uncle that influenced Youngbae. She knew that one day she would have to meet him and thank him. If not for his liking hip hop, her friendship with Chaerin would have never happened. Grateful to be in a red loose summer dress, she felt more free to move around as she placed her hands onto her belly. Today was a good day. She was sitting in mother nature with good company and nothing could really get her down right now.

"Mom," Youngbae called from a distance.

"Finally," Chaerin breathed sarcastically. "We were going to start eating without you."

Minzy smiled to herself as she heard Youngbae's approaching footsteps. "Mom I had things to do. Could you be a little more patient?"

Jiyong stiffled a laugh as Minzy looked to see Chaerin glaring over at her son, "Are you telling me to be patient when I am forever patient with you and your father?"

"Hey," Jiyong chimed in. "I have nothing to do with this."

"He's your son," Chaerin huffed before she noticed who was following behind her son. Smiling at the man approaching, she saw this as a perfect opportunity as she waved him over.

Meanwhile Youngbae walked over to Minzy and sheepishly placed a small wrapped box into her hands, "I...I got you something."

Minzy was so touched as she looked at the young boy who quickly placed his hands behind his back and shyly rocked from side to side. "You got this for me?"

"Yes, mommy told me that you weren't feeling well so I wanted to get you something. Well...I've been wanting to get you something since I met you," he confessed as he father proudly watched him profess his feelings. "I hope you like it."

"I'll love it," Minzy reassured him as she smiled and pulled at the white ribbon. Opening the box, she smiled seeing the music notes that adorned the gold braclet. Youngbae stepped forward to take it out of the box and slipped it on her wrist. It fit perfectly as she raised it up for the both of them to see. "I love it," she said as she pulled him into a hug and kissed his cheek which had him blushing deeply.

"That's my boy," Jiyong cheered while Chaerin smiled with the uncle who had helped pick the gift.

"I knew you would love it," Youngbae smiled victoriously. Pulling away in his excitement, he looked over to his uncle and waved. "Come meet my teacher."

Minzy sighed as she shook her head and stood on her feet. Turning to meet the man that made this all possible. She spun around and felt like the world as she knew it had come to an end. The smile had faded and so did her joy as she met eyes with Youngbae's uncle. Before she could register anything, she found herself at the bottom of the hill rushing away. Trembling as she hated herself for ignoring the people that were calling after her, she had to keep going. She couldn't look back as she neared the parking lot.

"Minzy," she heard the voice of the man that had rushed after her. Coming to an abrupt halt, she hated herself even more as she stood unmoving by the call of her name. "Minzy..."

"Don't call my name. You don't deserve to say my name," she growled over her shoulder in disgust.

"Minzy what the hell," Chaerin breathed heavily as she approached the two. "What's going on?"

"I need to leave," Minzy looked full blown with fear in her eyes as she gripped onto Chaerin. "Let's go."

Mino didn't know what to do as his heart nearly bursted with joy seeing the woman he had missed desperately in a red dress of all colors. But that excitement was met with anger. An emotion he knew he deserved, but still hoped that maybe it could change. She had changed him. She had given him the happiest days of his life so far. She had to know as he took a chance to intervene the two talking among each other. "Can we please talk," he spoke up.

Minzy stiffened at his request. How could he want to talk when he had left her months ago? "What's there to talk about? You made it very clear there was nothing left to talk about when you left me on that dock," she snapped with all the anger she could sum up.

"Mino," Chaerin breathed in shock and realization at why Minzy was acting the way she was.

"I hate you and I don't ever want to see your face again," she spat as the tears began to well in her eyes.

Chaerin felt torn as she looked at the two who were obviously hurting from whatever had torn them apart. "Minzy," Chaerin spoke up as she turned her friend to face her. "I think you need to face him," Chaerin said softly. Glancing down to her belly that was shielded between the two, she knew it was probably a now or never if she wasn't going to see him again.

Shaking her head, Minzy gave her a pleading look, "No."

"Yes," Chaerin said as she spun her around to face Mino. "Shut up and listen," Chaerin stared hard at Mino and glanced over to her husband to keep Youngbae away from all the drama.

Minzy trembled as she stood facing the man that she thought she would never see again. "I hate you Mino. You really messed me up." As the tears fell from her eyes, she didn't care anymore, "I wanted to give up on life, but it seems like life has other plans for me." Placing her hands onto her protruding belly, she sniffled a sad smile. "I''m pregnant. So even if I hate you, I hope you have a good life because after all you are the father to this baby." Exhaling deeply, she glanced over to her friend feeling completely exhausted. "Can we go now?" She didn't dare look at Mino for the fear of more rejection from him.

"Alright," Chaerin said as she glanced over to Jiyong who nodded for them to go. "Let's get you out of here."

Minzy was grateful to be off her feet as she laid upon her bed. Turning to her side as she still cried, she smiled through her tears as Chaerin laid next to her. Grateful to see Chaerin reach out and wipe away the tears, she felt a heavy weight lift off her shoulders. "Thank you," she mumbled.

"You're Wonder Woman you know that," Chaerin chimed. "I'm so proud of you."

As Minzy lay staring at Chaerin, it all came to her. She now remembered why her name was familiar to her. Mino had told her about Chaerin. She couldn't believe the odds as she sighed. "You wanna hear something funny," Minzy said as she cleared .

"What?"

"I knew you before I even knew you," Minzy smiled seeing the look of confusion cross Chaerin's face. "Mino talked about you on our cruise. You were the one that got away," she said. "He still loves you."

Chaerin wasn't the only one who had something to say. She too knew Minzy before she knew who she was. Though Mino had been her past lover yes, they remained best of friends. Being best friends she had come to learn of a girl that had stolen his heart away. This girl had loved hip hop music and got him obsessively listening to it and in turn got her son doing so. But Chaerin reframed from telling Minzy that information just yet. She had to figure out what the hell he was thinking of making a promise and ditching Minzy. "I love him too, but I'm not in love with him. He's one of my best friends. But we don't have to talk about him if you don't want to."

"I don't want to," Minzy softly mumbled as the tears fell from her eyes. She couldn't catch a break no matter how much she tried.

Chapter 24: This story is my favorite so far. I really like how you conveyed the feelings of each characters, whether it’s sadness or love or something darker and how they are not 1 dimensional. There’s no good and bad. And I can see you getting better and better through each stories.
