P4-2

The Odds of Us

"You said what," Bobby squeaked in disbelief. "You know how long you have been out running your brother? Do you know how long you have been refusing the call back home? Do you know what your brother is asking of you? Are you sure you're thinking straight?"

Meanwhile Mino stood thinking of the young woman that he had held earlier that day. He had yet to learn her name, yet she left a lasting impression on his mind. She was beautiful no doubt, but her scent. She made him feel alive, something he had been searching to feel for so long now. "I don't expect you to understand, but I need to return for her sake."

"For her sake," his best friend scoffed. "Do you even know her name?!"

"No, but she knows mine," Mino smiled as he felt his hollow heart flutter. "Plus I think she's kind of cute and smells really good."

Bobby couldn't argue that, but he shook his head and tried to be the reasonable one, "Mino get yourself together!" As much as Mino wanted to, he found himself still thinking on the young woman.

Minzy couldn't blame the friend for giving her the side eye, after all they didn't have a good start. Sighing she extended her hand out as a truce, "I apologize for almost breaking your wrist and knocking you unconscious the other day."

Hestitantly Bobby accepted, "I apologize for not knowing how to communicate with the opposite ."

This made Minzy laugh as she moved in to embrace the poor young man, "Don't worry, in time you'll become a ladies man. Just make sure you ask for permission before you touch them okay?"

"Can I hug you back then," Bobby asked innocently chuckling as she nodded.

"Yes you may," she smiled as she felt his arms envelope around her.

Watching the two interact, Mino couldn't help the smile that spread across his face, "Alright you love birds we got a long road ahead of us. We better get going."

"Goodbye Bobby," Minzy smiled brightly as she tip toed up to kiss his cheek. Watching how his human cheeks blushed red, she wished she could have such a human reaction, it was so innocent and pure.

"Goodbye my sweet lady," he waved at the pair, but mainly at Minzy. Mino chuckled as he shook his head at his innocent best friend. "Look after my sweet lady for me Mino," Bobby said.

To which it had both Mino and Minzy laughing, "Don't worry. I will take very good care of her." Minzy didn't say anything, knowing very well she could take care of herself. But instead she wondered how there was still people as pure and innocent like Bobby around. "He's a good guy," Mino sighed as they walked away.

Minzy grinned as if agreeing. Approaching the cab, she sighed seeing it in her best interest to stay polite, "Are you ready?"

He smiled as he nodded, but before he could let her fully descend into the car he stopped her, "What is your name sweet lady?"

Minzy coughed a laugh as her thoughts traced back to Bobby, "It's Minzy."

"Minzy," Mino breathed as he engraved it into his mind. Following suit, he liked the sound of it. Sweet lady Minzy, he thought before he repeated her name with his. Sweet lady Minzy and Mino. It sounded very agreeable as he watched the small town he had grown attached to disappear behind them.

Boarding the train, Mino liked how the seats were nice and snug together. Meanwhile Minzy felt crushed against the window, eyeing Mino she wondered why he had to sit so close to her. If anything she should be the one to sit on the other side just in case he decided to change his mind. "I won't change my mind," he assured her as he shimmed even closer to her.

"I don't think anyone is going to sit..."

"Please stay seated in your assigned seats, to keep the flow of traffic nice and smooth," a voice rang through the intercom.

Minzy huffed as she shook her head and peered out the window. Watching the hustle and bustle of the people moving to and fro to their destinations, she wondered if they knew just how lucky they were to only have human worries. "Are you hungry," Mino called her attention, seeing how she stared out at the people.

"No, just thinking how lucky they are to know that their souls aren't damned like ours," she huffed as she turned her attention to the back of the seat before her.

Pressing his lips together, her words rang true to his ears. Whether she knew it or not, she was preaching to the choir. Reaching into his bag, he retrived two pouches of liquid. Handing one to Minzy, he smiled, "Even if you aren't hungry at the moment you shouldn't starve yourself."

Accepting the bag, she popped the lid open and the smell of animal blood filled her nostrils. Her fangs shot out as she drank from the bag. Resisting the urge to puncture the bag, she squeezed the bag until the very last drop. Letting out a sigh of relief, she gazed over at Mino who grinned and sipped at his pouch like a light snack. Grinning as some blood dribbled out the side of his mouth, she bent over and flickered her tongue out to it clean. The blood on her tongue made her smile. Meanwhile Mino sat aroused at her intrusive actions. It was then that he realized he had been hanging around humans for far too long. She wasn't doing anything sensual at all, it was her predator instincts to not waste.

Sensing him becoming stiff, she eyed him as he shifted uncomfortably, "Sorry, you just had some blood coming out of the side of your mouth. I didn't want perfectly good blood to go to waste. I didn't mean to do that. Did I ruin your appetite?" Seeing him staring at her with a glazed look, she took a chance and pulled the pouch from his grasp and began to happily drink his portion. Drinking the blood as fast as she could before he could come to his senses, she the very last drop out and let out a satisfied sigh. "Thanks, that was good!"

Her words were silenced as his lips crashed against hers, tasting the blood on her lips and inhaling her flower scent was all too overwhelming. Letting his tongue flutter out to trace the remnants of the blood along her lips, he moved to bring her closer. Slipping his tongue into , he moaned as he continued to taste her along with the blood. When there wasn't a trace left of blood on her, he moved back and smugly smiled, "Now that was good!" If vampires could blush, she would be blushing right now. Bewildered at his actions, she was going to lecture him before he snuggled up against her and leaned his head onto her shoulder. "You drank most of my portion and now you have to pay me back by letting me snuggle you until our stop." She sat speechless, knowing very well it was her fault for being so greedy and drinking his blood bag. Now he had to store his energy and rest the entire train ride or rest assured he would probably devour everyone on the train. She didn't need that kind of attention. Frowning at her thoughtless actions, she let whatever was happening happen.

Though he had fully fed himself before their journey, she didn't need to know that. This allowed him an excuse to make out with sweet lady Minzy and cuddle. Mino had never slept so well as he stayed buried against the crook of her neck. Inhaling her soft scent, he dreamed of laying in a bed of flowers. Gazing to his side, lay the woman who lightened his current dream. Opening his eyes, he couldn't help but smile at the dream being his current reality. Minzy had fallen asleep and had her head leaning onto his. Gazing down, he felt his hollowed heart do flips as he saw their hands linked. Her hands were soft and gentle compared to how they felt when she had first tried to attack him. She was such a mystery to him he thought as he drifted back to sleep.

Minzy awoke to the abrupt halt of the train. Bracing herself against the chair before her, she looked to see that Mino stayed fast asleep as if he didn't feel a thing. Shaking her head and grinning, she relaxed as the train started up again. The hairs on the back of her neck began to stand as a chilling sensation ran down her spine. Sensing trouble, she slipped out of Mino's grasp and moved towards the front. The closer she moved towards the doors the more unnerved she felt. Glancing back once more, Mino stayed resting as she ventured into the other train cart ahead of theirs.

Minzy gasped as she was kicked square in the chest. Flipping over the leg of the offender, she braced herself against the seat and recognized that it was one of the body guards of the bossed she had killed months ago. "," she hissed as everyone on the train seemed to be dressed like him. Arising to their feet, Minzy glared at the body guard that waved for her to charge at him. Growling as she lunged as a sea of men stood up to take her attack. Driving her fist into the nearest man's face, she jumped and kicked both men who tried to charge at her from both directions sending the men behind them tumbling onto the ground as well. Dodging the blades that were flying past her, she pulled one from the chest of the man who had fallen on the ground and tossed it at the blade throwing man, hitting him right in the chest and pinning him to the wall. Feeling herself being put in a choke hold from behind, she went stumbling back until the man's back slammed into the chair and she was able to flip over his shoulder and snap his neck. Letting the lifeless body fall, she let her fangs flair out and her eyes go dark. Heightening her senses and increasing her speed and strength, she wanted to end this sooner rather than later. Flawlessly shifting around as if it was like a dance, she fought each man off with ease. Huffing out of frustration as she let the last body drop to the ground, she stood face to face with the body guard who still held a look of arrogance.

"You are one talented woman," he nodded. "When you get tired of doing your king's biddings and want to be really appreciated you come and find me. I won't disappoint like my sad body guard you killed a while ago," he smirked knowingly as he walked past her. Raising a hand, the bodies shrivled into marble like atoms and dissolved into thin air. "Nice seeing you again Minzy," he grinned as he snapped his fingers and disappeared in a blink of an eye.

The sound of a baby crying and people talking caught her attention and she realized the train was filled with regular humans minding their own business. "Ma'am are you okay," an employee approached her seeing that she was standing with a look of horror as if she had just seen a ghost.

"I...I'm fine," Minzy lied. "I was just making my way back to my seat." Retreating back to the train cart she came from, she made her way over to Mino and quietly sat next to him.

"Minzy are you okay," Mino mumbled as he awoke hearing her heavy breathing.

"We need to get off on the next stop," she said feeling like her mission was being compromised.

Yonning, he sat up and grinned, "Is there something wrong?"

"No, I...just need to rest," she quickly covered. Mino could sense that she was lying, but he didn't want to question it. Seeing how tense she sat gripping onto the arm rest he wondered why she seemed to be so up tight. Only offering a nod, he stayed quiet.

Minzy exhaled deeply as she let the water cascade down her body. Leaning upon the cool tile, she wondered how she could have been so foolish to have messed up her last mission and now it was coming back to haunt her in her current mission. She knew her gut instinct was that she did not kill that boss guy. Everything just didn't add up and now it was complicating what could be her ticket out. Shaking the thought, she felt her hollow heart drop as she sensed that she was alone in the hotel room. Flipping the water off, she yanked the towel over her soaked body and raced out of the bathroom. Growling as she looked around to see that she was in fact alone, she bolted for the door. It all felt like things happened in slow motion as she went smashing into Mino, knocking the ice bucket out of his hands and seeing all the ice cubes flying in the air. It wasn't the only thing flying in the air, as Minzy tried to grab the bucket flipping in the air all the while bracing herself for her upcoming fall. Landing in his strong hold, she stared up at him amazed that he had caught her in the nick of time. "Minzy what's wrong," he breathed, amazed to see that she would take the fall over a measley bowl of ice.

"I thought you left," she searched his eyes in a panic.

He hated seeing the worry he had put her under, to come running out in nothing but a towel. Helping her onto her feet, he took the bowl from her and began to pick up the pieces of ice. "I'm sorry, I should have told you. I just didn't want to disturb your shower." At the mention of the shower, she realized she was standing out in the hallway in nothing but a towel. Immodesty always made her feel uneasy and she couldn't help but let out a squeak as she raced back into the hotel room. Mino chuckled as he picked up what he could and headed back to the ice machine. Rinsing the bucket out, he began to fill it with ice again.

"Here let me do it," Minzy offered as she moved to take the bucket out of his hands.

"I'm very capable of doing it myself," he chuckled as he tried to reach for it to have his hand smacked away.

"And I am very capable of spilling it all over the hallway," she added making them both laugh before they headed back to their room.

Minzy lay thinking about what the body guard, boss, or whatever he was had said to her earlier. Was she really being appreciated? Hearing the shower go off, she turned to face away from the door to allow him some privacy. She honestly thought that living under the king's ruling wasn't too bad. She had an honest, humble living. Well as honest of a living that a vampire could ask for. Sighing as she heard Mino exiting from the bathroom, she was confused as she felt the bed dip from behind. "Umm what are you doing," she looked at him curiously before gazing over at the other bed that was unoccupied.

"I don't want to sleep alone," he sheepishly said. Honestly the curves of her form laying on the bed looked very inticing. Not to mention that mouth watering scent of flowers fusing off of her, it was like she was hypnotizing him. "I fear that I might go back on my word and become home sick and return back to Bobby."

"So like, you miss sleeping with Bobby," she eyed him, being surprised by his current confession.

Mino quickly put his hands up to clarify, "No, no me and Bobby are not lovers! We're friends, I don't like men. I have never liked men."

"Then who do you like," amused she wanted to continue to further.

"I think you're kind of beautiful," he confessed as he stood feeling like an idiot.

Sitting up, she faced him and looked him deep in his eyes. They glowed a soft honey brown and she could have sworn he looked more human in the moment. "Wow no wonder why Bobby struggled to approach me. He had a horrible teacher." This made them both burst into laughter, shaking her head she couldn't remember the last time she had laughed so much. Moving to allow him space on the bed, she curled up on her side, "We can share the bed, but don't think that your smooth words earned you anything more. Keep your hands to yourself." Mino smiled as he lay on his side of the bed. He didn't know why he was being so bold and needy of being near her. He had just met her, yet he found himself constantly thinking about her and her appealing scent. Taking a nice whiff of her soft aroma, he drifted to sleep smiling as he lay in a bed of flowers with Minzy.

Mino awoke to the feel of someone snuggling up against him. Slowly coming to, he gazed down to see the young woman he had just met days ago. Her small form cuddled up against him made him grin seeing how natural it was for her to be in his arms. Seeing her hand up some of his shirt, the look on her resting face looked pained. Brushing a stray strand of hair away from her face he wondered what had her sleeping so tensely. Pulling her tighter into his embrace he noticed how her face relaxed a little. Liking her reaction, he couldn't help that he too felt more at ease. She had come into his life only a few days ago like a storm, guns a blazing and all. Amazed that a young woman was able to demand such attention and respect when she seemed so fragile like she needed him to protect her. Inhaling her soft aroma, he silently vowed to protect her. Not understanding why he would do such a thing, especially since he just met her he just knew he had to. If not for her sake, but for his. Drifting back to sleep, it had been so long since he felt this comfortable.

Minzy felt so warm and cozy it was just too hard to resist falling back asleep. But she knew that she was on a mission and she would find rest when this was all over. Opening her eyes, she found herself entangled with Mino. Wondering how this came to be, it was rare for her to let her guard down when she slept. Gazing in the man who was sound asleep, she noticed a sliver necklace sparkling in the light. Lightly tugging on it, she was able to pull it out and reveal a familiar family crest. She had seen that very same family crest necklace months ago. Confused as to why the king's brother had the same one as the boss man, she wondered what their connection was. Shaking the thought, she slowly slipped out of his grasp and made her way to the bathroom. Gazing at the mirror, she wished she could see her reflection. Flipping on the faucet, she let the cool water pool in her palms. Splashing it against her face, she let out a sigh of relief as she noticed that she had felt well rested. Letting the new found energy to tackle day hit her, she made her way to Mino and shook him. "Mino, Mino wake up."

His eyes fluttered open as he gazed up at the beautiful young woman staring down at him. He could get used to this, "Good morning."

She nodded as she went to go slip on her shoes. Informing him that she was going to check them out and wait for him in the lobby, she took her leave as he fumbled towards the bathroom. Taking a seat in the lobby, she watched the various people moving in and out, before she saw the guy from the train the other day. He stood with a knowing look from afar, before another person passed by her and he now sat in the chair across from her. Feeling her chest tighten, she wondered what the hell he was doing here. "To answer your question I've come for you," he looked at her as if reading her thoughts.

"Why? It was the king that ordered your death. I have no part in whatever you two have going on..."

He grinned as he shook his head, "Well that in itself is not true. You have everything to do with what is going on between me and the king." Leaning forward he began his tale, "You see, you came to me in a dream. You told me of your greatness. Your purpose. You're going to be a great leader some day."

"I don't understand," she shook her head.

"Do you actually think the king will let a valuable subject such as yourself go," he asked her sarcastically. Seeing the stern look in her eyes, he shook his head, "Come on, I thought you were smarter than that. You're never going to leave if the king has a say in it."

"I..." Minzy felt herself doubting her plans as she thought about what the man was telling her. Her gut told her he was speaking truth. "So what should I do?"

The man smiled darkly as he leaned back in his chair, "Let his brother return the rest of the way alone."

"Abort my mission," she asked in disbelief.

"It's the only way, because once you go back you will never leave the service of the king," he warned her before someone walked past and he was gone with the wind.

She was up on her feet as she looked around to find no trace of the man who had become a great annoyance. "Hey, thanks for waiting for me," Mino chimed as he threw his arm over her shoulders. But she was too on edge from the mysterious guy's words. Consumed in her thoughts, she barely acknowledged him as she made her way towards the door. With clenched fists, she brisky walked outside. She wanted to know what this boss guy really wanted. Why was he pestering her so much? She was merely an errand girl, if anything. Why would this boss guy not approach the king or Mino? So many questions with so little time, she thought as she soon found herself at the train station. Buying a ticket, the warning from the boss guy flashed in her mind. Biting down on her lower lip, she let out a heavy sigh as she purchased a single ticket from the machine. Turning around, she frowned as she saw Mino with a big smile as he waved his ticket over to her. "Hey I made sure there was a spot in between our seats so we have more space," he smiled triumphantly at his thoughtfulness. Groaning inwardly, she clenched her ticket in her fist and trudged onto the train. Taking her seat next to the window with Mino following suit, she stayed staring out the cool glass as she tried to plan a way to escape. "Minzy are you okay," Mino asked, pulling her out of her thoughts.

"I'm fine," she cooly said, knowing she most definitely wasn't as the train began to move. Pretending to stay interested in what was out the window, she waited as she watched Mino become comfortable in his seat. Quickly moving to her feet, she gazed over to Mino who sat with an expectant look. "I gotta go to the restroom. I'll be right back." There was a hint of suspicion that crossed his eyes, but he nodded and shifted his legs under his seat to allow her more room. Moving past him, she headed towards the restrooms.

Grateful to see someone exiting the restroom, she manuvered around and closed the door as if she had entered. Pressing her back against the cool glass behind her, she looked to the doors and drove her fist through the wall and tugged out the wires. Gazing around to make sure the coast was clear, she then ripped some of the wires to trigger the door open. The gust of wind gave her the courage to jump before the train picked up full speed. Lunging forward she was caught off guard as she was pulled the opposite direction. Being pulled back by strong arms, she tried to free herself but was denied as he held her tighter. Swinging around until her back fell upon the wall behind them, she was trapped as she was met by pitch black eyes. The way his glare held her in a trance, she watched as the essence of the blackness flowed from his eyes and into the veins pumping around his eyes. To many this would be frightening, but she was fascinated. Reaching out, she let her finger tips trace the darkened veins before cupping his face to gaze back into his eyes. They looked like black holes of endless loops of time in space. Seeing how the blackness faded into soft dark chocolate brown orbs, she heard him let out a sigh of relief as he leaned his forehead upon hers.

"Don't run from me. I...I can't lose you," he mumbled so softly that it was barely audible, but being a vampire with heightened senses she heard ever word. She wanted to question him, but the way he looked at her kept her silent. Startled by the warmth that emitted from his touch, she was in awe. How could he be so warm? Wasn't he a vampire just like her? Too caught up in her thoughts, she hadn't realized that she was being gentled guided back to their seats. Claiming her seat once more, she sat quietly as he occupied the seat next to hers. Shoulder to shoulder, they sat as the train continued to trudge forward.

The inward battle she had with herself was silenced as she felt his warm touch once more. Gazing at his comforting hold, she felt odd. Her eyes travelled the length of his strong arms up to meet his dark brown eyes. She saw flecks of gold, almost like stars. It was like he held the secrets to the universe. Seeing how his lips tugged to a small grin, she wondered just what those secrets were. "What," she finally said not knowing how long she had been intensely focused on him.

"What is it that you want to know," his grin spread into a full smile.

Surprised that he had read her mind, she held a straight face and asked what was weighing heavily on her mind, "Why did you ask me to stay? I have known you for a few days."

"Why did you try to leave me? What if I didn't return back," he questioned her right back.

Pressing her lips tightly together, she pulled away from his universe gaze and looked back out the window, "You would. Something tells me you keep your word." Feeling the gentle squeeze on her hand, she looked back and saw nothing but sincerity. How could he be the king's brother? Flesh in blood. He was nothing like him.

"You make me want to be an honest man," he admitted. Sheepishly moving back in his seat at his bold words, he hoped he wasn't coming off too strong. "Sorry, you make me a little too honest of a man."

She grinned seeing how uncomfortable he became, "Honesty looks good on you." Shaking her head, she turned her gaze back towards the window. Though he didn't know it, his small gesture of holding her hand gave her courage. Maybe that boss man was wrong. Maybe she would just stick to the plan and be a honest woman and deliver this odd honest man next to her.
