Chapter 9
The Monster In My HeadJin Ae walked through the buzzing street awkwardly with the bright red umbrella in her hand using it as a potential walking stick gaining people's attention.
"Are you sure it's going to rain!?" - Jin Ae asked the 26 year old ghost Lim who was walking by her side taking in the amazing view of the night life one last time. There were food stalls setup across every intersection, the lights twinkling in every shop, people roaming the streets with their lovers, despite the cold weather there was warmth all over the place.
"I have been working in a weather forecasting station for 3 years now. Trust me, I know it's going to rain." - the ghost assured Jin Ae while leading the way to a bookstore.
"Wait, were you by any chance involved with a broadcasting station too?"
"How did you know? I actually send in the data we receive to the news channels." - Lim quickly answered, surprised at the exclusive piece of knowledge her deal maker had.
"Oh, it was just a hunch." - Jin Ae brushed out the topic. She kept getting flashes of a TV station and a weather forecasting van and figured that her next soul was someone probably connected with either of the two things.
After few more minutes of silent observation, Jin Ae questioned Lim out of curiosity - " Of all the things you could ask me, Why did you chose to visit a bookstore?"
Smiling to herself, Lim stopped on her tracks - "Took you long enough to ask. I was beginning to feel like you didn't give a damn about it." - the ghost confessed causing Jin Ae to let out a dry chuckle.
"You can say it was an unfulfilled wish of mine to complete reading this book but I never got the chance to do so, it's a very interesting book called - 'I have the right to destroy myself'."
"That's the name of the book?" - Jin Ae questioned, puzzled as this was the first time she heard about it.
"Yeah, and it's somewhat similar to the life you are living." - Lim commented, causing Jin Ae to widen her eyes more out of confusion than astonishment.
"Huh?"
"The writer in the story is someone who deals with helping people commit suicide in exchange of money which he uses to travel the world. Like how you deal with souls who want to fulfill their last wishes, he deals with people who want to commit suicide and just like you, he stays with them till their last breath. But there's a difference, unlike you he gets paid for helping people commit suicide where as you - "
"I got it!" - Jin Ae quickly cut Lim off, not wanting to hear the end of it cause she too knew it wasn't going to be pleasant.
"That's a very weird book." - Jin Ae commented opening the doors to the empty bookstore.
"Well I would call it interesting, depends on your mindset " - Lim remarked making her way to the section of fictional stories published in 1996.
Jin Ae stayed inside the store for half an hour, waiting for Lim to complete reading the book and as soon as she was done, she gave Jin Ae a wide smile with a contempt look on her face and disappeared into the unknown realms, leaving the book behind for Jin Ae.
"What am I going to do with it?" - Jin Ae questioned herself before been interrupted by the bookstore owner asking her whether she wanted to buy the book.
5 minutes later Jin Ae walked out with the same book in her hand, convincing herself that she took it only because she was curious to know the ending.
She was so engrossed reasoning herself as to why she bought the book that the girl forgot to notice the street which was buzzing earlier was now empty, the stalls were all shut as rain poured down heavily. People were crowded at every place which could shelter them from the rain.
Looking around, she for once felt lucky. Lucky that she met a ghost who actually helped her in someway.
Proudly showing off the red umbrella, Jin Ae walked the streets slowly enjoying the rain since it didn't effect her in anyway. She used to hate rains, anything which made her feel cold used to make it's way into Jin Ae's hate list resulting in Winter season and rainy season to top the list.
As she was completely been engaged in feeling blessed, Jin Ae felt a familiar face pass by her. The slightest glimpse of his face was enough to confirm his identity to her.
"Yoongi-shi!?" - Jin Ae yelled, but the male was so busy jogging his way through the rain that he barely heard her.
Knowing that calling his name would be of no use, Jin Ae made a run towards him getting slightly drenched in the rain herself.
"Jin Ae?" - Yoongi mumbled thinking he was hallucinating things.
"Ahhh it is you! I thought I was calling out for the wrong person. You didn't even respond when I yelled your name." - Jin Ae replied catching her breath.
"You remember my name?" - Yoongi questioned absentmindedly.
"Huh? Of course I know your name. How can I forget the name of a person who saved me?" - Jin Ae replied with a sheepish smile, her pitch a bit higher than usual making her sound insincere.
"It seems as if you are taunting me" - Yoongi smirked, his stone cold face finally showing some emotions.
"NO ! NO! I'm serious!" - Jin Ae instantly replied, waving her hands in response making Yoongi break into a fit of laughter.
"I was just joking" - Yoongi managed to blurt out between his chuckles.
Jin Ae retorted to it by quickly retreating the shed her umbrella was providing to Yoongi causing him to drench in the rain again but not for long.
"Yah!" - Yoongi scowled when he felt the cold rain drops on his skin.
"That makes us equal." - Jin Ae replied with a proud grin, sheltering him from the rain again.
The next few seconds were filled with pure awkwardness, both of them didn't know what they were supposed to do. They had been standing in the same exact spot from past 5 minutes fussing over silly things, the umbrella working as a shield against people's eye as well as the rain.
"Ummmm... I should go" - Yoongi managed to say before things could become more awkward.
"But it's raining!" - Jin Ae argued.
"Well I'm already drenched so it shouldn't be a problem if I get drenched a bit more."
"Nope, imagine if you catch a cold. I'm pretty sure you are going to put the blame on me." - Jin Ae laughed at her own joke while Yoongi looked at her with a confused expression, unsure whether he was supposed to laugh or not.
"I'm dropping you. Your dorm is anyhow on my way back home plus it's hardly 10 minutes from here." - Jin Ae replied with a weak smile, the embarrassment of her previous joke settling down on her.
Unable to come up with any excuse that could help him keep Jin Ae away, Yoongi was compelled to follow her. Being
