“Why are you crying, Chanyeol?”

I did not answer but somehow managed to raise my hands to touch my cheeks. I did not realize that I cried like a river and that the boy beside me was confused to see me like that.

“Do you want to share something with me?” He asked in a soft tone. So soft that it sent shiver to my spine.

“I…I…told you before that I saw lightning, right? It happened three times already, Baekhyun. The first time was when you hugged me after confessing your feeling.” Baekhyun remembered. It was when he asked him if he was making fun of him.

“The second time happened also when you hugged me in my room. But, that time not just lightning. I heard someone was screaming. And tonight after reading the book from Mr.Kim, I felt weird because I was sure that the lightning and scream was from the book. That’s why I asked you to hug me. This time… I know who was screaming, Baekhyun. It was you.”

“Do you know where he is now, Dad?”

“Baekhyun?”

“Yes.”

“I don’t. The last time I met his uncle was a few months before you were born. That was 32 years ago. He said that Baekhyun decided to pursue his medical study to the States and after that he traveled to different places.”

Suddenly my son’s phone rang.

”dr.Park Chanyeol speaking. Okay, I’ll be there in ten minutes!”

“I’m sorry, Dad, emergency situation. We’ll talk again, alright?”

“Sure, Son. Drive carefully!”

“I will. I love you, Dad!” He did not have time to change. Just grabbed his jacket and ran to door.

“I love you too, Chanyeol!”

1976

I did not know when I fell asleep. I woke up to an unfamiliar place in the middle of the night.

“This is not my room. Where am I?”

I felt someone’s hand on my stomach. It was Baekhyun’s. I slept in his room. Next to him.

I analyzed his face. Cute bottom nose. Pink lips. People said he had fluffy cheeks. I thought everything was perfect.

I liked that face. No, I adored that face. I knew the color of his eyes and even if they were closed, I knew how expressive they could be although the owner sometimes tried to hide it.

“Am I really falling for you, Baekhyun?”

Of course he said nothing. He was asleep. So, I just stretched my arms and put the right one around his shoulder. I kissed his hair and whispered, “I hope we will stay like this forever.”

I had this weird dream right after I closed my eyes. I saw Baekhyun was sitting on his bed. He picked something up from his leg. It was a tiny piece of glass. Then someone entered the room. He looked upset that Baekhyun did that himself.

“What if you lost a lot of blood?” The new guy asked.

“Chanyeol.” What? That was me?

Then I saw that Chanyeol guy kissed Baekhyun. He kissed him twice before Baekhyun moved closer to kiss the lips of the guy in front of him.

“Good morning!”

“Mmmm….”

I heard someone laughed. I opened one eye and saw Baekhyun. He was looking at me.

“Did you have a bad dream?”

“I don’t know. Why?”

“You were crying before going to bed. I had to force you to have some sleep. When I woke up, I saw that you were crying in your sleep. Is it about the same thing again, Chanyeol?”

“Well,” I paused before I continued, “Yes.”

 “Come on! Get up! We have somewhere to go!” Baekhyun pulled me.

We had breakfast together at dr.Byun’s house. His wife was a really good cook. I could not stop thanking her for making the delicious breakfast.

“How come you are always this small and tiny when you have a great cook at home?” I teased Baekhyun on our way to – my first guess was my house – Mr.Kim’s house.

“Why are we here?”

“We need him to explain more about the book he gave you and your dream, Chan Chan.”

“What did you call me?”

“Chan Chan. I don’t know why. Just feel like it.”

“Mr.Kim, are you at home?” Baekhyun yelled after we knocked the door several times but got no answer.

“Maybe he’s at the market looking for a book about eel!” I said the first animal that came to my mind.

“Eel? Can’t you say something like cats or dogs or cows? Eel?” I smirked as an answer.

“Well, who do we have here? Why do I have the honor to have both Park Chanyeol and Byun Baekhyun at my house? Long time no see, Byun Baekhyun!” Mr.Kim surprised us.

“Good morning, Mr.Kim. We’re looking for you. Did you go to the market?”

“Of course. As always. Come in. I did have a feeling that you both will be coming here. I didn’t know it will be this soon.”

We looked at each other. Both confused of what Mr.Kim said.

“Sit down, please. I know what you want to ask. It’s about the book, right? Have you finished reading it, Park Chanyeol?”

“I have. I read it three times last night actually. However, I wish that you’d give me – us – further explanation why you wanted me to read this book.”

“I told you before it’s because I know someone with the same name and face like you a few years ago.”

“Yes, and that person is dead.”

“Yes. He died when he was about your age along with a dear friend of him.”

“Let me guess, his dear friend’s name was Byun Baekhyun, wasn’t it?” Baekhyun raised his eyebrows from hearing that.

Mr.Kim did not seem surprised. In fact he smiled and said, “Yes, that’s right. You both are very clever just like them.”

“Who were they, Mr.Kim? Were they your students?” This time Baekhyun was the one who asked the question.

“They were just like you, Boys. Wonderful kids and full of curiosity. We lived in the same neighborhood. Not this one, back in my hometown. They were best friends just like their fathers. When people saw them, they thought that one day they would be someone who could change the world. But, unfortunately it n
