It’s been weeks since Daehyun broke up with Hana. Her grandmother knocked on her door.

“Hana-ah, please come out and eat something. You’re going to get sick if you don’t”

“I’ll eat later, halmeoni” Hana quickly replied as she lay in bed, staring at her ceiling.

“No, I want you to eat now and then come out with me to get groceries”

This time there was no response.

“Why do you keep torturing yourself like this? Pleas-“ Suddenly, the door opened up and halmeoni saw Hana for the first time in a while.

“It smells good” Hana said as she walked past her grandmother, who was now smiling.

An hour later, Hana and her grandmother were at the supermarket, but they went their own way. Hana walked over to the snacks aisle to see if there were any new snacks she might’ve missed while she was moping around. She was still heartbroken and it’s going to take a while for her heart to heal, no doubt about it. Just being in the market was hard for her as she remembered how she met Daehyun in the market in the beginning.

Hana knew the only way for her to move past this difficult time is to stop thinking about him and to give it some time. She sighed and continued to look at all the colorful snacks in front of her. There was one pack of candy that stood out to her and so she tried to reach for it by tiptoeing, but she wasn’t tall enough. Another hand reached up for the same pack of candy and grabbed it. Hana looked to her side and saw a young and handsome gentleman in a black leather jacket, smiling at her.

“Here” He handed the candy to her and Hana was stunned.

“O-oh..thank you..” She softly said as she could feel her face turning red. He chuckled.

“No problem, Hana-sshi” Hana immediately looked at the guy, confused and surprised.

“How do you know my name?”

“Your paintings, you put them up online, right?” The guy replied.

“Oh..right..” Hana slowly looked away, now feeling awkward.

“I saw you struggling so I thought I should help you..”

“Ah…well thanks..” Hana placed the candy in her cart without really deciding if she wanted the candy. She just wanted to escape and go back home.

“I really like your paintings, Hana. I’m a huge fan” Hana was surprised and slowly felt a smile creep onto her face.

“Really?”

“Really.”

“Thanks…err…” Hana was hoping he would say what his name was.

“Park Sungjin”

“Thanks Sungjin, for the praise and the candy” Hana felt herself loosen up a bit.

“Oh Hana! There you are!” Halmeoni walked up her holding a couple of items in her hands.

“I was looking for you!”

“Sorry!” Halemeoni saw Sungjin and smiled.

“Omo Sungjin-ah! Look how much you’ve grown! When did you come back?” Halmeoni patted his arm.

“Halmeoni, you know him?” Hana wasn’t sure what was going on.

“Of course! Sungjin is the grandson of my best friend. He moved to Busan when he was younger which is why you’ve never seen him before”

“Oh..”It was all Hana could say.

“Come over for dinner and tell me everything that’s happened with you! Is your grandma with you? I missed her so much!” Halmeoni was so excited and Hana hasn’t seen her grandmother like this in so long. It really warmed her heart and this is exactly what she needed right now.

Sungjin was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with all the questions that halmeoni was asking. He looked over at Hana for help and she couldn’t help but laugh.

It was that fateful day that changed Hana’s life. It’s been over five years since that day. Hana couldn’t be happier with her life right now. Today was a special day for her. A day she pictured with Daehyun, but now it’s with someone else. She finally found her “the one”.

Hana was in the dressing room, getting her makeup done by professionals.

A knock was heard and she turned to see who it was.

“Halmeoni!” She greeted.

“Omo….omo..you look so beautiful” Halmeoni was on the verge of crying.

“Halmeoni..”Hana whined a bit.

“I’m just happy that you’re happy. You deserve it” Hana stood up to hug her grandmother for a long time.

“It took some time, but I’m glad I made it.”

Another knock was heard, and it was a fellow employee letting Hana know that she has 20 minutes left before the event was starting.
