Chapter 11

The next day, you went to school early in the morning with a small yawn. Memories of last night flashed through your mind as you couldn’t help but to let out a smile. Your relationship with Sehun has gotten so much better. He was slowly opening up to you more and more, and the thought of marrying him excites you.

       You entered your class and saw some few students sitting by their table. It was still early as a lot of students haven’t arrived yet. You saw Su Min sitting by her assigned desk, with a concerned look all over her.

You approached her with small steps. As you sat by your desk, you cleared your throat. “Hey, Su Min. What’s up? You seem pretty down..”, You spoke, trying to start a conversation. Su Min looked into you with wide eyes, before slowly forming a smile.

“Hey Hwan Hui..”, She spoke, before letting out a sigh. “I’m okay.. it’s just… yesterday Chanyeol and me had this small date… and he wasn’t even paying attention to anything I say! He was being such a jerk yesterday..”, Su Min added more along with a sigh.

          “Really…? That’s new. He was very nice though when he was with me. Maybe he’s just tired?”, You spoke, weirded out. Chanyeol was always a sweet, charming guy when he’s with you, but why would he act like such jerk in front of his ultimate crush?

Su Min shook her head. “He kept checking his phone while I was talking to him. He doesn’t even response properly when I ask him something, and when it was time to leave, he just said bye and leave like that! Does he really like me?”, Su Min muttered, it was obvious that she was angry.

You silenced, not knowing what to reply.

You arrived at you workplace with a small smile. You saw Chanyeol putting his bag in his locker, you walked over him slowly. “Hey, sunbae!”, You spoke with a small smile. He turned to look at you as his face light up almost immediately.

“Hey Hwan Hui! Why were you absent again yesterday? Jongdae had to cover you up again, you know.”, He spoke with a worried tone as you let out an apologizing smile. “I’m sorry, I really am!”, You spoke with a soft smile as he too let out a smile and patted your head. “It’s okay, go and change to your outfit, okay?”, He spoke as you nodded.

You were about to go and change, when suddenly the manager walked in and called for everyone’s attention. “Okay, everyone’s here right?”, He started as everyone let out a loud ‘Yes’.

“So, as always the amusement park would be doing a special day every year. And this year, the theme was fairies. And of course, performers from the whole world would be coming and doing performance. Everyone’s task would be given out later, oh and Chanyeol and Hwan Hui, starting tomorrow you guys won’t be the mascot anymore. Your job will be taken by the trainee.”, Manager Kim spoke as your eyes widened.

“You guys will be painting the big wall by the amusement park’s official hall. I don’t care what you guys will be painting as long as it’s fairy-like. Oh you guys will also be getting bonus.  Is everyone clear? Okay get back to work!”, He spoke and walked out of the staff room as the staff room then was filled with chatter.

Chanyeol turned to look at you. “Well I guess starting tomorrow we would be painting all day, huh?”, He spoke with a small smile as you laughed. “Yeah I guess.”

Work has finally come to an end, and you were mad exhausted. You were packing your things when a hand was placed by your shoulder. You turned your head in shock just to be greeted by a smiling Chanyeol.

“Hey, let’s go. I’ll wait for you outside, okay?”, He spoke as you nodded. It was weird, how the tingling, nervous feelings didn’t show up like always. It was as if Chanyeol was just another guy.

You took your bag and walked outside the staff room, bidding goodbye to some of the worker. You saw Chanyeol just standing there, looking tired. You walked to him as you let out a soft smile. “Hey, let’s go.”, You spoke as he let out a smile and nodded.

        As both of you were walking, suddenly you saw a familiar looking guy standing by the entrance of the amusement park. You eyed that guy, as Chanyeol looked into you weirdly. “What’s wrong, Hwan Hui?”

You eyed that guy, he seemed really, really familiar. It was dark, thus making it harder for you to recognize who it is. You shook your head softly. “No, nothing’s wrong that guy just seemed familiar. Let’s just go, sunbae.”, You spoke with an assuring smile as Chanyeol smiled in response.

      You walked to the entrance with Chanyeol by your side. As you try hard to find out whom that guy is.

You walked past that guy, curiosity still taking you over.

“Hwan.”, that familiar voice spoke, as your eyes widened. You looked into your left and unknowingly a big smile appeared in your face. “Sehun?!”, You spoke in shock as Sehun’s face remained expressionless.

Chanyeol seemed pretty shocked too. “Hwan Hui, who is this?”, He asked as you kept your gaze at Sehun. “Oh, sunbae this is Sehun, my classmate.”, You spoke and looked into Chanyeol as Chanyeol gave a smile at Sehun. “Hey, I’m Chanyeol.”

Sehun didn’t reply, but instead he took your arm and held it tightly. “Yeah sorry dude she’s going home with me. Enjoy your night.”, Sehun spoke, before running away with his hand tightly holding your arm, thus dragging you along with him.

“Yah!!”, You yelled in shock as Sehun was still running with his hand tightly holding your arm. It was fun. Being him was fun. Everything seemed so much more interesting. Maybe it was him that is interesting.

But what you didn’t saw was the look on Chanyeol’s face that was filled with shock, curiosity and jealousy.

“Sehun, what are you doing here?”, You asked in shock as you panted for breath. Sehun had finally stopped running and he was panting too. “Picking you up from work, isn’t that what a husband should do?”, He spoke, with a small smile across his face.

You couldn’t help but to let out a small laugh. He laughed too. “What, what’s so funny? It’s true right?”, He spoke as you laughed louder.

He then looked into you. With that look. The same look when you were both at the park. Maybe it was because of the streets light? But his eyes were sparkling, and it seemed beautiful. He was just staring at you, with a small smile across his face.

The streets were quiet, and your beating heart could be the loudest sound that night. He then pulled you into a hug. “I really, really adore you.”, He spoke with a sigh.  You placed your head by his chest as a small smile was formed onto your lips.

And his heart, was beating loudly too. It was amazing. It was your first time feeling all kind of feelings at the same time. Protected, secured, cared, and loved.

“Okay, we’re here. Thank you for tonight, Sehun.”, You spoke as Sehun nodded softly. “No big deal. Say hi to your parents for me.”, He spoke and waved his hand, as he walked away.

You watched his movement until his silhouette disappeared out of your sight. You let out a small smile.

                Maybe, just maybe. Falling in love could be easy.

The next day at work, you had started doing the painting with Chanyeol. The wall was unbelievably ing huge and there was no possible way Chanyeol and you could finish the painting in two weeks.

Chanyeol let out a sigh. “I guess we should do some overtime later huh? For the wall and the bonus.”, He spoke as you sighed. “Yeah. Let’s just start.”, You spoke wearily.

For the next few hours, Chanyeol and you didn’t really say much and just keep drawing, painting, drawing, painting.

        It was finally the end of the shift, and both of you was just resting before heading back home. You munched on your sandwich as Chanyeol took another sip of his soda. He seemed very tired too.

Chanyeol cleared his throat. “Yesterday… w-was that guy your boyfriend?”, He asked as your eyes widened. “H-Huh? N-No he’s not.”, you answered shortly. Chanyeol looked into you. There was this sadness in his eye. It was almost unexplainable. Why would he be sad? He's in a relationship with his ultimate crush, so what is there to be sad?

You finally finished your sandwich as you then took a sip of your orange juice. Out of the sudden, Chanyeol grabbed your orange juice as you looked into him in shock. He placed the bottle by his side as he held your face.

He tilted his head just slightly and slammed his lips by yours. Few weeks ago, this would’ve been a dream came true. But not now, especially now that he has a girlfriend, this is ing wrong.

You pushed him in the chest roughly as you stared into him in shock. “S-Sunbae, what..?”, You asked in disbelief as Chanyeol lowered his gaze, he seemed pretty hurt by you pushing him.

“Hwan Hui, I don’t get it. I really don’t get it.”, He started, as he let out a sigh. “I thought I like Su Min, I really thought I do. But when I’m with her, I feel like a stranger. I don’t feel happy, I feel strange. But when I’m with you, I feel like I’m at home. Like we’ve known each other for long. I don’t get it.”, He spoke, as he turned his gaze to you.

Chanyeol looked into you deeply, in his eyes lies sadness, hurt and pain. “Hwan Hui, please tell me that you feel the same?”.

           Yeah. But not anymore.
