The Reason
After A Long Long WhileI was just finished my class when I got a phone call from the new OB/GYN, she’d like to meet me to discuss what she had figured out about my previous verdict.
“Oh, so you finally get to contact my old doctor?” I ask while TaecYeon knocks on my classroom door. I signal him to enter.
“Yes, AeRi-ssi, I’m pretty sure this news will amaze you as well.”
“Okay, I just finished working, is 5 o’clock okay with you?”
“Sure, I’ll be waiting at the clinic.”
I hang up then tell TaecYeon about my new OB/GYN news. “So, I think my curiosity is about to be answered. Do you want to come with me?”
“Of course. I just finished my class too.”
I tidy up my desk then leave the school immediately. It’s been three weeks since my colleagues know about my unmarried pregnancy. We get out of school holding hands, we don’t really care about how others will judge us, it’s not like they’re our close friends or anything. We wait for our bus for five minutes then head out to the clinic right away.
We’ve been waiting for our OB/GYN meeting for almost half an hour when my name’s called by the nurse.
“Good afternoon, doctor Kim.” TaecYeon and I greet her.
“Good afternoon.”
She asks me to lie down on the OB/GYN seat and starts checking my heartbeat, my baby’s heartbeat, and asking me various questions about the changes I may be feeling during the pregnancy.
“All is well, doctor.” I smile.
“I have a question,” TaecYeon interrups, “why is she not experiencing morning sickness as often as it seems in the movie?” He asks innocently.
“You should be thankful for that TaecYeon-a, I don’t like the sensation of throwing up.” I give him a soft punch on his shoulder.
“It’s always different from one expecting mother to another, although it’s common to experience morning sickness, some woman can go through pregnancy without experiencing it.”
We nod along to her explanation.
“You’re going
