The Hometown
After A Long Long WhileI wipe the sweat from my palm for the hundredth times, I’m so nervous taking this train ride. I let TaecYeon convinced me to follow him to his hometown, and now we’re in a moving train to Busan to meet his family.
I had a really bad experience with my ex’s parents, especially my former mother-in-law. She hated me the moment she saw me. I was only ten when I first met her, she looked at me from head to toe with a clear disapproval in her face, and she doesn’t like her son to hang out with me. To grew up in an orphanage, I didn’t have the newest fashion, most of the clothing provided were given from charities, it’s more often I got shoes with some hole in it than the new ones. This caused obvious differences when I hang out with KyuHyun. He’s a rich kid that never wears the same clothes twice, and I’m the orphan that relied on hand-me-down items.
I wipe my palm again when TaecYeon notice my nervousness. He takes my hand and holds it on his lap. “Are you that nervous?” he teases me.
“I am. Very nervous, I fell like my heart is about to explode.”
“What makes you so nervous?”
“Hmm let’s see.. everything, I guess. What if your parents don’t approve us? What if they hate me so much they send me back to Seoul right away? What if they don’t like to have an intruder for their Christmas?” I babble all the thoughts that come to my mind.
“I grew up with two hyungs that already married, there will be my niece and nephews also, and my parents love it when we all visit them, they always say the merrier the better. In fact, they’ve encourage me to bring a girl home for a long time. I think they worried I’m gonna end up unmarried.” He explains to cheer me up a bit.
