Chapter 4

 

Soon, Yuri found herself back at the dorms and sat down on the sofa, thinking what could she do? How could she get her revenge on Yunho if she kept paying attention to Jaejoong? He had done nothing but shown her kindness ever since she entered this school. She had originally thought of using him to get to Yunho but she couldn't do that. No matter what, she wouldn't use him even if she really wanted to get her revenge on Yunho. She didn't want to be a about it. She then heard her phone ring and instantly grinned as she stood up and ran to her phone. She saw the number as cinderella and laughed as she quickly answered, "Heechul Oppa." Yuri said happily, not wanting to break from her manly voice, in case Jaejoong walks in.

 

"Hey Yul. How's it going at your new school?"

 

"Its going alright and I met my roommate. He's sincere and very sweet. He helped me move in and showed me around. He's practically given me a tour around the school and is really easy to talk to. He isn't snobby or arrogant so I have a feeling I won't have to worry too much about him." Yuri said, smiling.

 

"That's the spirit girl. Your voice is amazing. I'm so proud of you." Heechul said, before someone shouted, "Hey, let me talk to her!" Yuri could hear Heechul laughing nervously as Hyoyeon's voice appeared, making her smiled, "Yul. Dear god, Yul, how are you? Are you okay? Have you seen Xiumin? Did you fit in well? Are there any bullies? If there are, I will beat them up."

 

"Hyo, you need to calm down." Yuri said, giggling "I'm fine. I moved in alright and everything's good."

 

"Did you meet Yun Oppa?" Hyoyeon asked, sighing.

 

Biting her bottom lips, Yuri held the hem of her shirt tightly before saying, "Y...Yeah. I met him."

 

"I can practically hear you wanting to cry." Hyoyeon said, sighing agan, "I knew this was a bad idea."

 

"No, Hyo." Yuri said, shaking her head, even though she knows Hyoyeon wouldn't see it, "I'm okay. I just need to get uses to it, that's all, but the worst thing is that I'm sharing a room with his best friend. That same friend he kept talking to me about. Kim Jaejoong."

 

"Oh, wow!" Hyoyeon gasped, "Well, that wasn't what we expected. Oh Yul, I miss you." Hyoyeon said, before Heechul screamed, "Me, too!" "Yeah, yeah, him too." Hyoyeon said, her voice hinted with laughter.

 

Laughing, Yuri walked over to the bathroom and closed the door behind her.

 

"Man, that work out was refreshing." Jaejoong said, entering the apartment, sweaty and ready to have a shower while downing his bottle of water. As he was about to open the bathroom door, he heard Yeonseok's voice from inside.

 

"Oh Hyo, I miss you, too. I know I miss doing that, too. Hyo, don't do that without me." Jaejoong's eyes widened a little before smirking before pressing his ear against the door again, "Okay, I will speak to you tomorrow. Yes, I saw Xiumin but I haven't spoken to him though. I love you too, Hyoyeon."

 

'Well, what do you know?' Jaejoong thought, grinning.

 

"Okay, make sure you talk to him. Speak to you tomorrow and love you."

 

"I love you too, Hyo."

 

Soon, Heechul was back on the line, "Hey Yul, speak with you later okay? You can always text me whenever you want and hope you can visit us once your settled."

 

"Of course, I will visit."

 

"Okay. Have fun but not too much fun." Heechul said teasingly.

 

"Oh, you." Yuri said, chuckling "See you later." And with that, Yuri ended the call. Putting her phone in her pocket, she opened the door and saw a grinning Jaejoong on the other side. Yuri was surprised to say the least, "Jae...Jaejoong-Sshi? U...Um...what are you d...doing here so early?" Yuri asked, confused. It wasn't five already, was it?

 

"It's five-thirty right now Yeonseok." Jaejoong said, however, he didn't lose his grin which made Yuri feel weird, "W...Well, I'm going to...um, finish unpacking. Yeah." Yuri said, before running towards her bags.

 

She then heard him speak, "Hey, no need to get shy, man. Who's Hyoyeon?"

 

', he must have heard the conversation!' Yuri thought, frozen "U...Um...H...Hyoyeon is my...uh."

 

"Come on man, no need to be shy. I know who she is." Jaejoong said, 'He does?' Yuri thought, turning around to looked at Jaejoong to see him smiling as he placed his hand on Yuri's shoulder, "She's your girlfriend, right?"

 

Yuri felt like laughing at that moment, 'G...Girlfriend?' "Yeah, she's my girlfriend. How did you know anyway?" Yuri said, smiling.

 

Laughing, Jaejoong shrugged off his black towel that was around his neck and put his bag down, "You said I love you for one and Hyoyeon is a girl's name so I instantly had the suspicion that she was your girlfriend. Man, why didn't you tell me? I had like to know more about my roommate." Jaejoong said, smiling.

 

"You never asked." Yuri said, shrugging making Jaejoong chuckled lightly.

 

"True. Anyway, I'm going to have a shower then meet the guys to grab some food. Want to join?"

 

"I might as well get to know the area." Yuri said, shrugging again.

 

"Cool." Jaejoong said, smiling before heading for the shower. Once the bathroom door was close, Yuri sat down on her bed, rubbing her face, 'Man, what a day.' Yuri thought, sighing loudly as she took out her phone and saw a photo of her and Hyoyeon on the front page, 'Heechul Oppa must have done that.' Lying down, Yuri kept looking at the photo and smiled before closing her eyes and frowning a little, 'Come on Yuri, it's only been the first day and plus, you have been treated very nicely.' Yuri then heard the door open and could already see most of the steam leaving the bathroom.

 

Sitting up, she saw Jaejoong walking out with a black towel wrapped around his slim waist. She then notice the dropped of water that slid down his chiselled chest and fell into the lines of his toned abs, 'Oh, god.' She thought, frozen. Why does she keep seeing him in towels? She then thought of a plan to distract herself and come up with the first thing that popped into my head.

 

"U...Um...do you usually shower three times a day?" 'Lame Yuri. Just lame.'

 

Jaejoong was confused at the question but just shrugged, "Not always. Just today really. This morning was because I ran for a bit but otherwise, only like twice. Anyway, Yunho and Hyukjae, along with a couple of other people, I will introduce you to them later, we are meeting in half an hour. You ready?"

 

"Just waiting for you."

 

Yuri saw Jaejoong nod and thankfully, he had his grey heather tommy hilfiger athletic knit boxers underneath his towel before pulling the towel away. She sat up on the bed and fiddled with her phone while Jaejoong was in the bathroom, doing whatever guys did. Soon, he came out with a hammond blue polo ralph lauren linen sport shirt, levi's 511 hybrid slim fit black trouser jeans, his hair comb to the side and dry. Yuri couldn't help but think about how flawless and perfect he was right now.

 

Reaching over, Jaejoong grabbed his phone, black ralph lauren burnished leather bifold wallet and keys and said, smirking "Make sure you got everything. Let's go, shorty." "Really, is that my nickname now?" Yuri asked, frowning.

 

"It's better than Hyukjae's. His is ert."

 

Yuri was confused as she walked out of the apartment with Jaejoong locking the door, "Why is he named that?" "He practically bangs any woman he can find which is above number five on the hot scale as he says. He doesn't stop grabbing their behinds and its even worse when he's drunk." Jaejoong said, chuckling.

 

Yuri scrunched her nose, thinking 'Great. Hyukjae, the kind friend I met is actually a ert and a womanizer. Great, can't this world get any better.' Looking around, Yuri asked, "Um...so, where are we going?"

 

"Well, we are meeting Yunho at the car park and taking his car then we will head to wherever they want. We have to be back by nine and it's only 6:38 so we have got some time."

 

Yuri nodded and soon, followed Jaejoong into the car park. She stopped abruptly as she saw Yunho's silver A4 Audi. Biting her lips, Yuri hands fisted by her sides. That very same car where he would pick her up from school, where they made out countless of times, where they had almost gone as far as to do...Yuri wanted to cry. The car was the last place she wanted to be but she had to swallow her pain and try to act as if she was new to all of this. Jaejoong noticed how Yeonseok paused and turned to looked at him, "Hey Yeonseok, come on, what you doing?" Yuri shook her head out of her daze, "Sorry, spaced out." Then she started to walk again, and when they were so close to the car, she saw Yunho jump out and wave. Placing a smile on her face, Yuri tried to sustain her tears, "There you guys are. Come on, Hyukjae and the others are waiting at the cafeteria."

 

"Sorry, man." Jaejoong said, smiling and did some sort of handshake with him, "Come on Yeonseok, hop in."

 

Yuri nodded and got into the backseat while Jaejoong sat in the passenger side with Yunho driving, "So, who else is there?"

 

"Eunhyuk, Yoseob and his girlfriend, Jessica." Jaejoong nodded and turned to looked at Yeonseok and saw how he was just looking outside the window, his head tilted back to rest on the seat. For some reason, Jaejoong couldn't stop thinking about just how short and thin he was. He acted more boyish than manly and his skin looked beautifully healthy and he had hardly no muscles. He must be more brains than body, 'He's a good kid though.' Jaejoong thought, smirking.

 

Yuri couldn't help but have memories of her and Yunho in here. The longer she stay in the car, the more she felt her heart aching and nearly broke as she tried so hard not to look at him. Yuri then felt the car stop and noticed they were outside some restaurant and jumped out of the car, followed by Jaejoong. Yunho went beside her and patted his shoulder, "You okay, man? You were really quiet in there."

 

Nodding, Yuri said, smiling "Thanks Yunho."

 

Smiling back, Yunho nodded before he started to walked away, making Yuri sighed. Putting her head down, Yuri fisted her hand tightly. However, she felt another hand touching her shoulder and looked up to see Jaejoong smiling down at her, "Let's get going, shorty."

 

Seeing Jaejoong beside her, Yuri started to relaxed and felt the pain slowly faded away. She nodded and soon, they were both walking over to the others. Once Yuri got neared the restaurant, she visibly noticed Hyukjae and another boy with his arm wrapped around a girl. They waved over as soon as they saw Jaejoong, "Jaejoong, over here, man. Your taking forever." "Sorry Yoseob." Jaejoong said, chuckling and did, yet another handshake with the boy called Yoseob and turned towards Yuri, "Guys, this is Kwon Yeonseok. He just transeferred today and my new roommate. Yeonseok, this guy here is Yang Yoseob."

 

"Hey." Yuri said, smiling.

 

"Hey." Yoseob said, nodding while smiling back.

 

"You already know Hyukjae."

 

"Hello again." Hyukjae said, making Yuri smiled back warily.

 

"This is Yoseob's girlfriend, Jessica Jung Sooyeon."

 

"Hello, nice to meet you." Jessica said, smiling sweetly at Yuri and took out her hand for a handshake.

 

"Nice to meet you, too." Yuri said, smiling back and shook her hand.

 

Instantly, Yoseob pulled Jessica back a little, making Yuri smiled a little, 'Aw. He's protective of her. That's so cute. Oh, right. He's protecting her from me.' Yuri thought, sighing.

 

"Well, enough of this. Let's go in. I'm starving."

 

Everybody nodded and walked in with Yuri looking around. It was cute and it didn't look too crowded either. She saw groups of people here and there, mostly all teenagers and students. Quietly, she followed everybody as Yoseob was conversing with Jessica, Hyukjae and Jaejoong and Yunho were all talking about something to do with basketball. Sighing, she realized she was just the odd one out. Soon, they all found a table and the order was Yoseob, Jessica, Yuri, Hyukjae, Yunho and then Jaejoong.

 

Yuri sighed again, as she had to get stuck with the so-called womanizer and the girlfriend of a very overprotective boyfriend. Looking over at Yunho, Yuri saw him laughing with Jaejoong about basketball. Sighing one last time, Yuri took out her phone as she started to played tetris. Soon, a waitress came over and as Jaejoong told her, Hyukjae instantly leaned over the table and went to cup her backside.

 

"Well, hello there pretty." Hyukjae said, as he flirted with the waitress.

 

"What can I get for you all?" The waitress asked, merely giggling.

 

"You, tonight, in my bed please." Hyukjae said. Yuri couldn't help but laugh with Jaejoong while Yunho hit him in the head.

 

"Seriously, you never learn do you, ert." Yoseob said, shaking his head.

 

Yoseob ordered a black bean noodles with a cola, Jessica ordered a some dumplings with a chocolate milk shake, Jaejoong ordered a fire chicken with some rice and a sprite and Yunho ordered pork rib soup with a coke and Hyukjae got himself a stir fried noodle with a strawberry milkshake. For Yuri, she just ordered a salad with a glass of juice since she didn't feel like eating. After everything that happened today with meeting Yunho, Jaejoong and just remembering the past made her more tired than hungry.

 

Jaejoong was a little worried about what Yeonseok ordered wasn't food, it was like a snack. Jaejoong then saw how he just looked down at his phone with a tired look on his face. Jaejoong, for some reason, had the urge to force feed him. He was skinny enough as it was. Even though Jaejoong met him for only a day, he proclaimed Yeonseok to be his friend and he protected his friends.

 

"You guys are mean." Hyukjae said, sighing and frowned in his chair.

 

"Oh, Hyuk Oppa, we are not, you just have to understand that girls don't like being touched and ordered like that all the time. Not all girls are the same." Jessica said.

 

"Amen to that." Yoseob said.

 

Yuri put her phone away when their food arrived and she slowly ate her salad as everyone was in a conversation which she felt she couldn't intervene in.

 

"So, how is your basketball training going guys?" Yoseob asked.

 

"It's going great. Coach says he's going to sign us up this weekend and the first round for the championships is in five months so in December." Jaejoong said, taking a bite of his chicken.

 

"In december? Wow, that's sooner then when last year started." Jessica said, taking a small bite of her own.

 

"Yeah, but we will manage." Yunho said smirking, drinking his coke.

 

"Yeonseok Oppa, why don't you say anything?" Jessica asked, looking at Yuri and smiled.

 

Jaejoong turned to looked at him as he stopped eating.

 

Noticing the attention was on her now, Yuri shook her head, explaining "I'm just tired. It's my first day here and it's just a lot to take in." "Oh, okay." Jessica said, nodding "That's understandable."

 

Soon, the conversations went from basketball to how their school is now and comparing it to last year, to how erted Hyukjae is and the dreaded question came up that Yuri never wanted to hear and it was from Jaejoong, "So Yunho, how is your girlfriend? What was her name? Yu, something?" Jaejoong asked, taking another bite out of his chicken. Yuri instantly froze as she secretly glared at him.

 

"Yuri." Yunho said, sighing.

 

"Yes." Yuri said, instinctively looking up, making everyone turned to looked at her, '!' Yuri thought, biting her tongue.

 

"You know Yuri?" Yunho asked, looking at her quizzically.

 

"Y...Yeah." Yuri said, nodding "She goes to Neunggok and was in the same year as me."

 

Nodding, Yunho continued, "I thought you had know her. We aren't together anymore. It wasn't as it used to be so I broke up with her."

 

"Sorry to hear that man, but I'm sure everything will be fine." Jaejoong said, feeling sorry for his friend. He had seen a glimpse of his girlfriend once before and if memory serves him right, she was hot but he couldn't really say since he hardly remembered how she looked like. Turning to Yeonseok, Jaejoong saw how he had slight pain in his eyes as he looked at Yunho before shaking his head, not thinking too much into it. Hyukjae was looking around the cafeteria for any signs of hot girls and saw someone walk into the restaurant and his brown, almond-shaped eyes widened, "Hey man, look who just walked in."

 

Hearing what Hyukjae said, Jaejoong and everybody else turned around, including Yuri and were shocked, most of all, Yuri "Seohyun?" "You know her?" Yunho asked, looking at her.

 

"Yeah, she goes to Neunggok high." Yuri answered.

 

"Yeah, well, you might know her but so does Jaejoong." Hyukjae said, sighing.

 

Growling, Jaejoong's hands tightened on the table, "Why the did that have to show up of all days?!" "You know her, too?" Yuri asked, confused.

 

"She's the ex I told you about before." Jaejoong said, sighing.

 

Yuri was shocked. Seohyun dated Jaejoong? Wow. Well, there definitely is something you learn everyday, "But I thought she was going out with Kyuhyun?" Yuri stated.

 

"She was. At the same time, she was dating Jaejoong." Yoseob said, drinking his cola.

 

Yuri was even more shocked. She then heard annoying heels and knew she was coming this way, "Why, look who it is." Seohyun's annoying voice sounded as her so-called 'Friends' were standing behind her.

 

"What do you want?" Jaejoong asked, his voice laced with anger, that it even scared Yuri.

 

"Now now, Jae baby, that is no way to talk to your girlfriend." Seohyun said, pouting.

 

"Ex-girlfriend if you might have forgotten." Jessica stated.

 

"And who are you to talk? You weren't part of this relationship, were you?"

 

"No, she wasn't but I was and don't you dare insult my friends because you are my ex-girlfriend if I remember correctly. Now, go away before I get seriously mad." Jaejoong said.

 

Sighing, Seohyun shook her head as she placed both hands on his shoulders, "Oh, Jae baby, stop being in denial. We both know that I can't limit myself to one person."

 

"And I told you I don't share." Jaejoong said, shoving her hands away.

 

Sighing again, Seohyun leaned forward as her oval-shaped face was inches away from his own. Yuri, for some reason, felt something in her stomach that wanted to push that away from her roommate but why all of a sudden?! However, Jaejoong pushed her away again, "Get away from me. I'm sick and tired of you Seo. I told you that I hate you and after what you did to me, go away, I don't want to see your face again."

 

"You don't know what you are missing out on."

 

"Of course, I do. I'm missing out on a school year of misery with sloppy seconds." Jaejoong said, and then drank his sprite as he carried on eating.

 

"How dare you Jae Oppa?!" Seohyun gasped, "You know you still love me and that will never change."

 

Not being able to bear it anymore, Hyukjae stood up, saying "Just leave Seohyun, no one wants you here."

 

Rolling her brown, almond-shaped eyes, Seohyun then spotted Yeonseok. Studying the strange boy for a moment, Seohyun started to smirked, leaning forward, showing her cleavage, "And who might you be hot stuff?"

 

Yuri snorted but didn't say anything.

 

"Oh, the silent type, eh? Haven't I seen you around here before?" Seohyun said, her voice filled with suggestiveness, "I went to Neunggok before SM so maybe that's where you met me." Yuri said, shrugging.

 

Seohyun then smiled and winked at him. However, Jaejoong pulled Seohyun away, "Damnit, your ruining the food! Get out of here! I told you I never wanted to see you again, and your voice is irritating me so get out before I makes a scene and we are all kicked out!" Jaejoong was furious but secretly, he was angrier at the fact that Seohyun was secretly making fun of his new roommate.

 

Taking her arm away, Seohyun stepped back and smirked, "This isn't over, Jae baby. I will have you back." Then, she looked down at Yeonseok and winked once before her and her 'Friends' walked away.

 

Sitting back down, Jaejoong sighed heavily, rubbing his face, "Hey man, it's okay." Yunho said, rubbing his shoulders, "Do you want to go and sleep it off?"

 

Jaejoong nodded and everybody got up from the table, ready to leave.

 

Once outside, Yuri shook hands with Yoseob, smiling "Nice to meet you Yoseob-Sshi. You too, Jessica-Sshi."

 

Yoseob studied Yeonseok once before smirking, nodding his head, "You, too." He knew that Yeonseok wouldn't touch Jessica so he decided he was a good guy. Jessica smiled and bowed, "Pleasure to meet you too, Yeonseok Oppa. Hope to see you and everybody else soon." And with that, Yoseob and Jessica jumped into their own car and left with a wave of the hand.

 

Yuri turned to see the others debating, "So, who's going to sit in the front?"

 

Yuri didn't want to be inside the car for fear of memories, "I will sit in the seatback again."

 

"I will take the seatback with you, Yunho and Eunhyuk can sit in the front."

 

Yuri nodded and soon, they all walked over to the car. Yuri and Jaejoong got into the seatback while Yunho and Hyukjae seated themselves in the front. Throughout the car ride, Yuri felt the awkward silence between her and Jaejoong until he decided to break it by asking, "So, how did you find your first day Yeonseok?"

 

Looking up, Yuri said, smiling "I found it okay, other than gym but I'm sure I will get used to it."

 

Jaejoong nodded. He his round, plump lips as he came up with an idea before turning to Yeonseok and smirked, "How about I train you?"

 

"What do you mean?" Yuri asked, confused.

 

"Early in the mornings, we can go to the gym or the field and I will train you. You will be stronger and fitter and you won't get tired as easily during gym. What do you say, shorty?" Jaejoong said, smiling as he took out his hand for him to shake it.

 

Yuri was startled at the suggestion. Was he really planning on taking out his free time in the morning to help train her? Yuri couldn't help but smile a little.

 

"Your not going to carry on calling me shorty, will you?"

 

"I'm sorry but your stuck with that name, I'm afraid." Jaejoong said, chuckling as his hands fell to his side, "Now, yes or no?"

 

Yuri gave him a smug look as she nodded and took out her hand for him to shake, "I will prove to you I will succeed and when I do, you have to stop calling me shorty."

 

Jaejoong sighed but smiled nevertheless, "Alright alright. If I see a lot of improvement from you then I will stop calling you shorty."

 

"You got yourself a deal." Yuri said, nodding.
