Kai sat down beside Kyungsoo with his hot cup of coffee on the table and was greeted with a smile. Kyungsoo had asked Kai to meet up at their favorite coffee shop all out of a sudden.

"What was it you wanted to talk about?"

As soon as Kai was comfortably situated, Kyungsoo turned to face Kai with serious eyes after taking a sip of his own americano.

"About tonight."

"Tonight?"

"Are you showing up tonight... What I mean is.. to Hyeri's house that is.."

"Do I have a choice, Soo?" Kai sighed inwardly keeping his sharp gaze on this steaming black coffee. "Chairman always wants me to be around, he expects a lot from me. And besides.." This time he turned to give Kyungsoo a reassuring smile. "She doesn't matter anymore. What happened between us is in the past now."

"But did you think about how Asher would react?"

Kai bit the inside of his cheek for a second, then turn to give Kyungsoo a small smile. "I know what I'm doing and besides she promised not to say a word to Asher."

"You still love her, don't you?" Kyungsoo's question was just above a whisper and his eyes shook in a way that Kai could never understand.

Kai only remained mum, drinking the bitter coffee. It was still hotness of the coffee entering his mouth, to his throat, down to his chest. It was burning, but Kai wasn't sure if it were the coffee or his weak feelings coming back.

"You deserve better, Kai." Kyungsoo's voice brought Kai's attention back. "Both you and Asher."

"Asher deserves every happiness in this world.. and as for me, I live to make him happy, that's all there's left of me." Kai finished his last drop of coffee and crushed the cup before throwing it out.

"Kai..-"

"Don't worry about me so much, you've done a lot. Im forever in debt to you." Kai gave Kyungsoo shoulder a squeeze before getting up and leaving. 

"Kai." A tug on his sweater made him stop and turned back to stare at Kyungsoo's caring owl eyes. "I just don't want you to be doing what you don't want to. Your feelings matter too, remember that."

"I don't want Asher to meet a non caring mother like her at all. But if I kept him hidden away from her, that only makes me just as selfish as her. Because then I would only be thinking about what I want and not about what Asher wants. He doesn't remember her, but I know he longs to be with her in a way. Asher just doesn't ask or bring up the topic since the incident with my sister and all. But I know that deep within his heart he would like to ask about her and meet her."
