Falling Apart

The Moon Spirit's Wolf

“How ing could you!”

“He was going to find out eventually!” somehow this turned into a shouting match. “How?! We had a plan!”

“This ‘plan’ is ed up!” why couldn’t he see his own selfishness? “What choice did I have Mark?” I always had the upmost respect for Jaebum. He was a great alpha, but at this moment I didn’t even want to look at him.

“Whatever. You’re going to deal with this, I don’t want to be a part of it.”

“Where are we going?” the sound of someone else’s voice in my head, was a little uncomfortable and hard to get used to.

“To Got7’s pack house. I need some explanations.” The run was fairly quick. The pack house was just up ahead. As soon as we came up to the entrance there was a strange feeling. We quickly shifted back putting on clothes. I was almost scared to confront them. Something felt off, like we weren’t welcomed.

“Hey?!” I called out, making sure to stay alert. My eyes snapping to the figure coming through the front door. Jaebum’s figure coming into view. He looked uneasy, his eyes brows were knit together and his shoulders tense. “Hey. What are you doing here?” he smiled, but it looked forced.

I was confused. How could he be so relaxed when one of s were gone? “Why are you so calm?” I voiced my thoughts, but he just gives me this really annoying confused look.

I was quickly losing my patience, “Jinyoung and Bts have been taken! How can you be so calm!” His eyes widened. “I-I… we’re trying…” he stops midsentence, his eyes closing and opening seconds later. “We are trying to figure out a way to rescue them.” He states way too calmly.

“You know you could ask me?” this all just felt so weird.

“I didn’t know you knew” that’s when alarms went off in my head. There was definitely something up. “You’re the one that told me!” I say incredulously.

He turned away. Jaebum was great at hiding and bluffing, something that I had saw a strength. Now I see it as an obstacle. “Hyung, what’s going on?” I asked, all seriousness. I wanted to know what he was hiding from me.

“Hyung tell him” a new voice joined. It was Mark. The others soon joined; all of us stood there unsure of what to say. They were just like Jaebum standing awkwardly, like they were hiding something. Mark however, he stood there with a defiance that was opposite to his usual laidback demeanor. It reminded me of the day he confessed.

“Bring Mark back inside.” Jaebum broke the silence. He gestured toward Jackson but his eyes never left Mark’s. If I was unsure before, Mark completely reassured me that they were indeed hiding something.

“No he deserves to know! He’s going to find out eventually!” Mark argued, dodging Jackson before he could grab him. Daehyun grabbed my arm. I looked over and he seemed on edge. The strangers and the tension probably freaking out his wolf. I squeezed his hand quickly before turning back to the problem.

“Get back inside Mark!” Jaebum growled. I could the alpha taking over. “No!”

“Mark!” Mark was silenced in seconds, the others also straightening their backs. The power of an alpha always amused and intrigued me.

I decided to step in. “What’s going on? What is he talking about?” I tried to stay calm hoping that would coax him to talk. It didn’t seem to work. Jaebum didn’t even spare me a glance. “Bam? Youngjae? Jackson?” I was hoping to get some information from them but the all turned away.

Keeping calm didn’t seem to be working because I felt that odd rush of adrenaline again. It was rising at alarming speeds. I didn’t have time for this bull, I wanted answers and I wanted them now.

“Jungkook use it” I was startled. Something whispered to me, but the voice was unfamiliar. I looked around quickly unable to pinpoint its origin. The voice was calming though. “You know what you can do, so just do it.” It whispered again.

It was odd. I knew the voice. I was so confused; I knew exactly what it wanted me to do but at the same time I didn’t understand. Before I could ponder on it I felt this jolt up my spine.

“Listen” I said. I wasn’t yelling or shouting; heck I didn’t even sound angry. But there was so much power in that one word that it didn’t even sound like me. This voice; although mine, unfamiliar. I do remember hearing it before.

“I want you to tell me what’s going on, and I mean everything.” Jaebum stepped up obediently. Exactly as I predicted.

“We handed Bts over to the hunters in exchange for Jinyoung”

Everything happened so fast. I couldn’t keep up.

Jungkook was definitely special just like they had said. I was skeptical especially with how weak he was when he was younger. But that tone in his voice, how quickly he was able to have everyone under command. Like an alpha.

The minute he spoke I felt the chill and the familiar need to submit. The others obviously shocked by their wolves submitting. The alpha so willingly gave up the information. Even though I was unaware of what was going on. His words shocked even me.

The minute they left his mouth I could already feel the dangerous waves coming from Jungkook. I wanted to help, calm him down somehow, but I was too late. Jungkook serge forward with so much speed it was a blur. He had his hand wrapped around the alpha’s neck, easily lifting him in the air. There was a sick glint in Jungkook’s eye, before he was throwing the boy like a baseball. His body flying through the house.

“Hyung!” his pack members running over. My concern fell on Jungkook who was shaking with what could only be anger. I stepped up to calm him but stopped at the sound of his voice.

“You- sold them out?” his voice sent shivers down my spine. He sounded broken and angry. His voice shook with anger and unshed tears.

“I-I had no other choice!” Jaebum who recovered with the help of his pack. His voice was filled with fear, but he tried to mask it but it just came out defensive.

“No other choice!” I froze, the others mimicking. I have never heard Jungkook scream like that. It was so raw and filled with pain. The alpha stepping back, probably afraid of being attacked again. The waves rolling off Jungkook were very unsettling not only to me but the others too, who were slightly shaking. Whatever was happening to Jungkook would only get worse if he didn’t calm down. But I couldn’t think of a way to calm him down without ending up through a wall.

“How could you give your friends away like that?” his voice diminished to a whisper. “No other options?” he scoffed stepping closer to the pack like a drunk maniac. Honestly I felt bad for them. “You had so many other options! Get help, fight, anything! But you chose such an underhanded and dirty approach.” He spat now only a foot away from them.

He was seething. Being his cousin, I have grown up with the boy. In all those years I have never seen him like this. Jungkook the sweet boy who would give his life away to help another. This Jungkook was scary, frightening, and heartbreaking.

“They said they’ll kill him! Don’t you care for Jinyoung?! he’s your bonded!” a tall, skinny boy spoke. he coward back as soon as Jungkook looked at him.

“So I would have fought; fought to bring him back! I would never risk the life of another!” that sentence made me realize that this was Jungkook. The same Jungkook that cared so deeply for others, got angry for others, and fought for others.

“Jungkook, think about this, they’re hunters. They probably have hundreds of men. What chance do the six of us have against them?” Jaebum finally spoke.

“I don’t care!” Jungkook was inches from Jaebum’s face. “Where is Jinyoung?” Jungkook had this challenging tone. “You gave the hunter Bts right? So where is Jinyoung?” he continued with a sickening smirk. The whole pack looked shocked and scandalized.

Jungkook let out a mocking laugh. “How stupid can you be! What guarantee do you have that they would give Jinyoung back?... None. Right?! Now you have seven lives riding on your shoulders” he shoved Jaebum against the wall, “And if any of them are hurt I’m going to make you pay with your life.” Jaebum visibly shivered.

It was hard to intervened in this situation. Everyone too scared to be the next one going through a wall. As for me, I didn’t feel like I had the right to step into a situation that I had no clue about. That and I want to stay on Jungkook’s side.

Jungkook turned and walked away brushing past me. His quick glance signaling to follow him. I obeyed following him back the way we came. I was a little worried about or next destination.

“Where are you going?!” the alpha had the balls to call out. I didn’t expect Jungkook to reply but without stopping he threw a quick response out. “I’m going to save them.” I was afraid he would say that.

“We’re coming!” The alpha spoke with feigned confidence but wavered at the end. Jungkook turned around so quick I barely had time to grab onto him. “Let go Daehyun hyung” he bit out, but I held on tighter. We both knew he could easily have gotten away.

“How ing dare you!” Jungkook spat.

A red headed man stepped up “Jungkook please stop, this isn’t you.”

“What do you know.” The red headed man looked hurt but kept going, “We know where their base is. Helping you get there is the least we could do for all the trouble we’ve caused.”

Sensing Jungkook’s unwillingness I decided to step in, “Jungkook just let them.” He looked so betrayed. “It will take who knows how long to find it ourselves.” I tried. He sighed, a sign that he’s given up.

“Fine. I want Jaebum in the front leading, with Daehyun close behind. The rest of you behind them in a tight line, and I’ll take the back.”

There seemed to be string of confusion between the Got7 pack members. “Who’s going to carry you” a short blond one asked.

Jungkook shot me a quick glance. I understood after. None of them know he can shift, even I forgot for a second. “I’m going to be running myself.” his demeanor much nicer than before, “Now quick shift.” He commanded.

Once everyone was shifted they all turned to Jungkook. Either waiting for another order or waiting for what he was going to do next. Jungkook huffed obviously not liking the attention, but proceeded to take his clothes off anyway.

The blown eyes of the other wolves were almost comical. Even I had to admit that it was hard to take your eyes off his wolf. Jungkook was a beautiful boy and his wolf took on the same beauty. Without even batting an eyelash he let out a stern bark. Everyone quickly moved out, heading to the one place I hoped I would never have to go.

After an hour of running I could finally see what resembled a factory building. It was a big stark grey building at the end of a winding road, surrounded by nothing but trees. There were barely any windows for such a large structure. Anyone who stumbled upon it would surely believe it was just a factory.

We stop a good distance away to figure out what was the next move. “What are we going to do?” Youngjae asked looking at me expectantly. Honestly I had no idea. I wasn’t use to this; being a leader. I normally just followed behind. I’m not leader material. I’m not smart like Namjoon, or level-headed like Jin and Yoongi, and I definitely wasn’t good a communicating like Jimin, Taehyung and Hoseok. Those were the qualities of a good leader.

I was Jungkook, I have my own way of doing things. I may not be all those things but I want to save them and that’s enough. “We’re going straight in.” there’s a beat of silence.

“Are you crazy?!” Jaebum hissed. He’s right I am crazy.

“Trying to make an elaborate plan is just going to waste time, and we don’t even have enough information to scrape one up.” I turned toward the building and walked straight ahead. I wanted to do this before I lost the courage. The others quickly following behind despite their unwillingness.

At the entrance were two guards. They were big; wide shoulders, sharp jaws, and matching glares. They sure were intimidating and had this been any other situation I would have avoided them at all cost. They were carried weapons obviously meant for wolves.

“Can we help you?” one of them spoke. I was surprised, I expected them to attack right away. “We want to talk to the person in charge” I answered keeping my voice steady.

The guards gave a quick glance at each other, “Sorry we can’t let you in.” the other said while slowly reaching for his gun. He didn’t get really far when Daehyun was driving his fist right into the man’s gut, successfully sending him to the ground. I followed suit, kicking the other in the knee with enough force to break it. With a sickening crack he was joining his friend on the ground.

I grabbed the card key off one of the guards and proceeded inside. The others stood there in shock only moving when Daehyun gave a quick “Come on!” We got into the building with no problem. What I deemed to be the lobby was completely empty.

“This is strange” Bambam spoke looking around warily, “Why is it so easy?” It was like he set something off.

“Stay together everyone!” moving to the side to dodge the oncoming arrow. In the blink of an eye men starting pouring into the room from every corner. They were carrying weapons that could kill us. There had to be at least a hundred men. We fought our best but with how inexperienced Got7 was in combat they were down about half way through the guys.

I looked around and there were about twenty men left and I could feel the fatigue. Daehyun looked worn out too. A pair of giant doors opened at the back of the room revealing a giant man.

“Ah Jungkook, we’ve been waiting for you.” the man spoke clasping his hands together.

“Who are you and how do you know me” The man chuckled. He man’s eyes were sharp but wrinkled with age, eyebrows pulled together, and his mouth was stretched into a sneer.

“Oh how rude of me. My name is Jungmin, the leader and founder of the business. Now for how I know you, that’s a long story that can be told at a better time.” His gaze traveled to Daehyun and Got7. “Why don’t you follow me.” he waved us over.

“No, not until you tell me where they are.” I glared but he just smiled.

“By them, I suspect you mean your bonded and illegitimate pack. I can take you to them if you like”

“Why would I trust you?”

“I’m not telling you to trust me. I’m simply fulfilling your wish. Either way you’re going down there.” A low growl erupted from my throat.

“It would be beneficial for you to listen like a good dog” he paused, a grin spreading across his face, “or your friends might get hurt.”

I wanted to hit him so bad but Daehyun’s soft hand on my shoulder held me back. I sighed and went to help the rest of the guys up. “Well than let’s go! I’m sure they will be happy to see you!”

The minute we stepped through the door into the basement, my senses were overloaded. It reeked of blood and death. How could anyone stay down here, I felt like I was going to vomit. We were led all the way down the hall and into a dark room. It smelled worse in here but I couldn’t make out anything.

“Well here we are.” The man, Jungmin, his voice was muffled. I knew we probably got locked in a room. Suddenly the lights went on revealing everything. The sight was nauseating, frightening, and infuriating. As I thought, Jungmin and his guards were on the other side of a glass window looking into the giant room we were trapped in. The room was cover in blood and other questionable substances. It was cold and wet, and reeked. None of this bothered me though, because chained to the blood stained walls was my pack, unconscious and battered. I searched the room and found exactly who I was looking for in the middle of the room chained to a chair.

Jinyoung was in an even worse condition. He looked like a corpse, the only sign of life was the slow rise and fall of his chest. Blood and sweat coated his skin, hair matted, bone showing through almost translucent skin. He looked horrible. I heard an inaudible sob behind me and turned to see Bambam in tears, the rest in similar conditions, ridden with tears or blinded by anger.

I felt numb. Here in this very room sat the people I cared most about in horrible conditions. Yet there was nothing I could have done to prevent this. How could you do this to someone?

“Why?” my voice was barely above a whisper.

“Why?” the man behind the glass smirked “Because it’s fun.” His smile, his words, they were all eating at my patience. I wanted to keep under control but my anger was rising. I slammed my fist down on the glass window separating it and watched at it cracked under the force. The man’s eyes widened for a fraction of a second before returning to their original state. I could sense the panic though.

So I banged on the glass again, harder, and relished in the way the cracking glass made the man’s heart speed up.

“Stop!” the man shouted, failing to keep his previously stoic face. “Why? It’s fun” I mocked.

“If you don’t stop we’ll hurt them.” He challenged. I froze, slowly removing myself from the glass.

“What do you want?!” I shouted.

“Jungkook we’re hunters. It’s our job to kill your kind.”

“If that was the reason we would have been dead!” I countered.

“Fair enough. We want you Jungkook.” He said all too nonchalantly.

“Okay you have me, so let them go now.” I didn’t want to play any games. My first priority was to get everyone out of here safe and then I figure out what to do later.

“Can’t”

“Why?!”

“Do you not understand what a hunter does?” he mocked. “To let wolves get away would be going against everything we stand for.”

“You’re not supposed to attack us without a reason!” Daehyun chimed in. He looked shaken up.

“Oh I have a reason”

“What?” I dared.

“Your pack is dangerous. They’re not like other wolves, and we can’t let them free and risk the lives of others.” I was shocked. He knew about they’re powers?

“What about them” I gestured over to Daehyun and Got7.

“They’re just bonus.” I glared at the offending man but he just smiled. I felt like I was getting nowhere.

“What are you going to do with me? Kill me?”

“Never! That would be a waste.” He gasped, holding his hand to his chest like I’ve offended him.

“So you plan on killing them and keeping me alive?”

“That’s the plan.”

“You sick bastard.” I spat. “Yeah yeah, now if you could please tie them up for me.” the sharp-eyed man gesture toward the others.

“Are you ing crazy?” I looked at the man incredulously.

“Watch it. Don’t you really want to know what you are doing here?” I didn’t respond, choosing to stay rooted to my spot. “Look tie them up or I make them suffer.”

The threats were really starting to get to me, “Come in here and touch them and you won’t be going back out.” I growled.

The man sighed and I smiled triumphantly believing I won. It was short lived because the man pulled something out of his pocket and soon after screams of agony filled the room. I whipped around to see my pack and Jinyoung writhing in pain.

“Okay stop!” I choked out. The screaming stopped and the screaming stopped their bodies going limp.

“Good boy now hurry and chain them up.” He ordered a sickening smile playing on his face. I looked over to the others fully for the first time since coming into this room. Just as I fear most of their faces were riddled with fear and pain. They all seemed to understand and walked over to the chains without hesitation. I mumbled a quick apology and went to work chaining them to the walls. When I got to Daehyun his face was filled with determination. His eyes held promises of freedom. I nodded and let the quick exchange end there.

“Now what” I turned to the glass wall shielding the man.

“Now, sit tight. I have some things to take care of, but don’t worry I have some special people here to keep you company.”

“What makes you think I won’t escape? Why not chain me up?” I felt uneasy, why leave me here free to roam around.

We both know those chains would be useless on you as well as wolfsbane unless injected. That’s why we have them.” He pointed to the wolves behind me. “They cripple you.” he taunted. He left with a small wave.

In his place two very familiar figures came.

“You!” I felt my anger spike.

“Hey, didn’t think you would see us again, huh? Well we didn’t think so either.” The taller one laughed. “But on these terms it’s not so bad” the other jeered. Standing behind the wall was the two people that I didn’t think I would ever see again. The twins, the people who change everything.

“I swear this time I will kill you”

“I don’t know if you have realized this, but the situation is not in your favor.”

“What the do you want?!”

“You still don’t know? Aish, you’ll just have to wait.” Daeryong sing-songed. “It’s a shame though if you would have just let us take you they wouldn’t have been involved” The twins had this eerie way of speaking after on another like they shared thoughts.

“Bull.”

“Alright, your right. But now we get to kill them all.” Soryong clapped his hands together like an excited schoolgirl.

“Like hell I would let you touch them!”

“You have no choice.” I banged my hand against the already fractured glass, further cracking it.

“Stop it or we’ll press the button!”

I stepped away pacing back and forth trying to come up with some plan that would get us all out of here. This is my fault so I have to be the one to fix it. I glance at my pack, beaten and battered; then at Got7 and Daehyun, full of fear and anger; finally, at Jinyoung, at the brink of death. I could barely hear his heartbeat or shallow breathing.

I just need to keep calm. I if I lose control now I could and us getting us all killed. Just think Jungkook. It was hard when I felt the familiar slip of control. Whatever I was or whatever was inside of me was begging to be released. Think Jungkook, think.

Chapter 20: I wasn't expecting a story like this... but I'm not disappointed at all!! This is so interesting and I can really feel for the characters. However to me it seemed like you strayed from your initial purpose of the story, like the story line itself changed but maybe it's just the way you wrote it. Moreover, I don't know if you've ever reread your story, but if you do you will see how much your writing has improved
