~Chapter 9 – All Planned Out~

They're all in the ramen shop once more as they wait for their leader Sunggyu to tell them what they're going to be doing. Sungjong decides to sit on the edge of the table by Dongwoo this time around, his odd heart beat from the day before has finally stopped but he still felt a bit on edge with staying anywhere close to Myungsoo or actually being anywhere near Myungsoo in general.

Luckily for Sungjong, Myungsoo decides to take his usual seat on the other side of the table as Sunggyu and Woohyun make their appearance from the back of the ramen shop.

"Alright, now that we compiled a pretty decent looking blueprint of the museum we should be able to do our job a lot easier," begins Sunggyu as he turns the tablet in his hands on to show the others at the table, "We're going to use this time to plan out everything. We're nearing the time for the Jewel of Destiny event at the museum so we need to set everything straight now."

"The first step would be to set our usual infinite card as a warning," Woohyun pulls out the card and places it on the table, "This will be the easy part, according to our sources the jewel will be moved to the museum very soon. When it's placed into it's case we break in to place the card and get out to begin phase two."

The others nod, finding this to be the norm but Sungjong has a question nagging at him that he can't keep quiet about. "Why do we place a card as warning? Wouldn't this be better if we didn't warn people of our intention to steal it?"

Everyone's gaze shifts from Sungjong to Sunggyu, "We want to give them a warning. As pitiful as this sounds a warning allows them to give it their all to stop us but it also makes it seem less of a burden on our conscious since we know that we won't be stealing it from right under their noses."

"So it's used to lessen your guilt," sums up Sungjong.

Sunggyu nods, "Yeah, pretty much but it's not like we keep the item for ourselves. Someone has to end up as the loser in this somehow so this is our way to play fair."

"Then what will be phase two?" questions Sungjong.

"That's where the real mess begins, we basically get the jewel," answers Woohyun, "The Seoul Museum will be bringing in the jewel in a week, in three days we will place the card on the jewel's case. The museum will be closed for that entire week until the unveiling event to bring in more sponsors for the museum's fiftieth anniversary."

Sunggyu expands the picture of the museum blueprints, "We heard that it's been decided to be held on the third floor of the museum, it's going to take time since it's so far, we have to factor in maximum escape time and the people in the way that we'll have to dodge."

The word catches Hoya's attention, "Wait, people? Aren't we only up against guards? You're not thinking about taking the jewel while the event is in session are you?"

Sunggyu's expression hardens, "Yeah I am."

A hushed silence falls among everyone at the table before everyone starts talking at once.

            "That's like a suicide assignment!"

"We always did our assignments with the cover of night! Where the entire place is locked up already!"

"This isn't going to end well!"

Sunggyu slams his hand down on the table to shut everyone up, "Listen to me! I realize this is a huge risk since we now have an even greater chance at getting caught but we have no choice! Don't you remember what I said before? There's people paid off to get the jewel once the event ends and we can't take it before because the museum needs the sponsors."

"How are we going to pull this off then?" starts Myungsoo, he's not looking at Sunggyu but at Sungjong who's starting to look slightly nauseous, "You do realize Sungjong will have to unlock the jewel's case right? He's still new to all this and there's bound to be people surrounding the main attraction of the event. No matter how skilled he is at unlocking locks this will be a hell of a challenge. He has the highest chance of getting caught."

"I know, that's why I was going to ask Sungjong something before we came up with the assignment details," Sunggyu turns to Sungjong, "Do you mind being in the front lines for this? If you don't want to do this we won't force you, you still have school and your family to worry over so it's understandable especially since this could all blow up in our faces. You can work behind the lines with Woohyun for this, we'll switch partners for this assignment there's tons of other things to unlock beside the jewel's case. It's up to you though Sungjong."

Sungjong is looking at the tablet on the table with the blueprints but he feels Myungsoo's gaze on him along with the rest of the team. He realizes the risk of all this but really if he was unsure about this from the beginning he surely wouldn't be here now, Infinite has made his typical student life a lot more interesting. He's ready to go down with them on this even if it's really uncertain. Sungjong looks up and catches Myungsoo's gaze, he grins as his heart does a weird thumping rhythm, "I trust you guys and Myungsoo is my partner anyways I can't just switch partners like that. It was my job from the beginning to unlock the Jewel of Destiny right? That's why you all recruited me so I'm not backing out of it."

A grin make it's way to the other members' faces as they ruffle up Sungjong's hair fondly while the youngest squawks with protest over it.

"You got guts," laughs Sunggyu as he retracts his hand from a glaring Sungjong who's fixing his hair again, "You're one of us without a doubt. Now let's really plan this entire thing out, this should go off without fail."

Myungsoo only watches on quietly but Sungjong's earlier statement is still running through his mind as he tries to figure out the content feeling that's settling in his chest.

The planning itself goes rather smoothly, the only problem being the execution of the plan but that's something that they'll have to worry about when they get there. Two days to set the card and a full week before they have to take the jewel. It's now just a matter of time at this point.

"Okay, this is the plan for now then. We'll meet back up here at the ramen shop before we head out in two days to place the card," orders Sunggyu.

"In the meantime, have a bit of free time until then. We'll be going together to check in with W. Im to see if he has any new information for us that we can use before finalizing everything," adds on Woohyun, "Be sure to keep your phones on so we can contact you all anytime we may need you."

"Alright!" chorused out everyone as they made their way out of the shop.

Sungjong's mind was swirling with thoughts of the plans and it's probability of working out causing him to be less aware of his surroundings as he tried to cross the street without really looking. A tug from behind finally caught Sungjong's attention though as he looks up in time to see a car speed by him.

"Hey fluff ball, didn't you say you agreed to help us? What the hell was that? Were you trying to get yourself killed!?"

There really was only one person in the world who would call Sungjong that and it sent a tremor through his body as he quickly turned around to face Myungsoo. He hopes his face doesn't look too red as he snaps on reflex, "I was thinking about something!"

Myungsoo gives Sungjong a look of mock disbelief, "You think?"

I always love re-reading this story. I love how it's very domestic and I'm a huge fan of domestic moments because it makes me laugh sometimes and it makes the characters seem real. Ofc, I enjoyed the myungjong moments and the badassery of each character of some parts. You did a great job with this story! I honestly love how you made Sungjong seem like this independent, strong, quite stable and modest person rather than the typical trope of him being this innocent and weak lemon candy boy or the super sassy diva that will roast anything that breathes which is very like... it does make Sungjong not have a lot of depth i guess and it's very unrealistic so. I really like Sungjong's character in this story haha i think hes my favorite tbh. Anyways, I love this story a lot and I hope you keep writing more stories like this if you have the time.
