Chapter 02: Morning Call

It’s still early in the morning and my phone is ringing. Not to mention I’m still in bed and supposedly enjoying my sleep. My body feels too heavy to get up, or even lift an arm to reach for my phone and answer the call.

I finally grabbed my phone and answered. I didn’t even bother looking at the caller’s name, my eyes are still shut. “Hello?” I groggily answered and the person on the other line could definitely tell I’m still sleepy.

“Good morning, Taengoo.” I opened my eyes and smiled. The voice that greeted me was the same voice I hear every day.

“Good morning, Baek.”

“I take it that you’re still in bed?” He whispered. Not admitting this out loud but he sounds y whenever he whispers. His voice is comforting and soothing whenever I listen to him sing ballads. And when he talks, it’s like there’s always a smile on his face. Then his whispering voice gets me all---

“Tae, are you still there?”

“Uh…yeah,” Too early for daydreaming, Kim Taeyeon. “Why are you whispering?” I whispered back.

“Because I’m at the airport and fans are everywhere. You, why are you whispering?” I could imagine him smiling right now.

“Because you’re whispering.”

He laughed at my response and I could listen to it all day. It calms me and I close my eyes again, savouring the sound. “You’re leaving now?” I ask. This was supposed to be our first New Year’s Eve as a couple but we can’t celebrate it together. He’ll be in China while I’ll be here
