It’s the talk of the town. Everyone is already planning of what to do and where to go during winter break. But there’s a ‘not-so-pleasant' news rounding Kyungsoo’s college department; some students will work in the hospital till December. Many students groaned in disappointment, they can only wish that they are not going to be in the list.

“Hey, I heard that only the excelling students are going to fill in the hospital.” Someone whispered in Kyungsoo’s class during Mr. Kang’s lecture.

“I think so too. There are many accidents during December, the hospital can’t afford to handle double disasters.” Another student answered.

Excelling or not, Kyungsoo doesn’t want to be counted. It’s winter break for chrissake! They kind of planned for things already.

At Prof. Jang’s class, he announced that he already have the list of students who will attend to the hospital for their section, they’re one of the sections who are assigned to place students in the emergency room.

“We only have five students to pick,” Prof. Jang starts, “Alright, first is Ms. Do Kyungsoo,” he looks up from the paper to see the said student.

Kyungsoo’s soul withered in disappointment. She raises her hand and everyone looked at her.

“This is not happening at all.” She whispers to her friend, Jihyo.

“I know—“

“Song Jihyo, you’re with Ms. Do.”

“Oh, .” They whispered in unison.

Prof. Jang frowns, “What?”

“Nothing sir.”

“Jongin!” Kyungsoo whines through the fries in , “I want a break! Why did they choose me? I’m so unfortunate! Jongin, this is not happening! Jongin-ahhhhhhhhhhh!”

Jongin sighed and picks another box of Pepero from the shelf.

“Jonginnnnnnn~”

The said man picks a small box of strawberry milk.

“Jongin~”

He picks another box of the same milk.

“How can I live without you?” Kyungsoo asks with a grin and swings her arm around his shoulder, her feet on tip toe as they walk to the cashier. Jongin responded with an eye roll but there’s a small smile on his face.

“You should really stop spoiling this little girl over here.” Taemin says from behind the cashier and puts a hand on Kyungsoo’s head.

Kyungsoo rolled her eyes, “You’re just jealous.” She seethes as she swat the latter’s hand away.

Taemin snorted and starts to scan the items, “Yeah, how dare you steal my boyfriend.”

“Shut up, Taemin.”

“You two are practically joined by the hip, how the hell am I stealing him?” Kyungsoo asks sarcastically.

“Good point.” Taemin nods as he stares at Kyungsoo, “You’re getting cuter though.”

“Really?”

“Now who was saying to not spoil her again?” Jongin asks sarcastically and hands Taemin the payment.

“That standing next to her.” Taemin answers and nods his head over to Jongin who was about to protest when the latter slips a chocolate bar in the plastic bag, “Go out, losers.”

“Way to treat the customers.” Kyungsoo deadpans, “Thanks, bag.”

“No problem, princess!” Taemin says with a sweet smile. Jongin glares at him.

“Territorial much?” he mumbles under his breath. Sometimes he doesn’t get Jongin, most of the time he does. How the hell he wouldn’t when he keeps on blabbering about Kyungsoo after his shift?

“Jihyo.”

“Yeah?”

“Winter break is coming.”

“Uh-huh.”

“Jihyo. We’re going to treat patients in winter break—“

“Stop.”

“…while our classmates are curled on their couches, watching—“

“Kyungsoo.”

“…The three spirits of Christmas and ty movie replays.”

“Well, at least we’re getting early experience. Just look at the bright side!”

“But…”

“It’s not like you have a boyfriend to spend winter under the snow.”

“Aw, you.” Kyungsoo walks out.

“…What?”Jihyo breathes out, puzzled. She doesn’t know where she went wrong… maybe—oh. Kyungsoo’s fantasy was to be hugged on the day the snow falls by that guy named… Jongil? Jongup? Jongshin? She shrugged. Just someone with the Jong-.

She sighed. Her bitterness about love has gotten over again.
