"I think I'm gonna head to the rooftop this lunch, Joy." Seulgi smiled gently and got up from the usual table that her and Joy sat at. Joy couldn't help but furrow her eye brows at the brunette, she wondered why Seulgi seemed so disconnected lately. Especially after the incident in the cafeteria with Wendy and Irene, Seulgi seemed strangely distant. 

          "It's the third time in this past week and a half that you've ditched me for someone or somewhere or something else. Are we... Growing apart, Seul?" Joy pouted sadly, saying her last words. Ever since the second time Seulgi left Joy sitting alone, Joy started having thoughts of worry. She was afraid she was going to lose one of the best friendships she's ever had. 

          "It's nothing, Joy. I'm just stressed and tired lately, don't think too much of it. I'll be upstairs." Seulgi left Joy hanging, Joy's question was not answered in any acceptable form. Joy got up from her seat and followed Seulgi from a safe distance, and sure enough, Seulgi headed toward the rooftop. Joy questioned the brunette, why did she want to go to a place that was freezing cold, but at the same time directly under the sun? Why did she want to spend her wonderful hour-lunch on a birdpooped, leafy rooftop when she could be sitting at her reserved table in the caf?

          Joy quietly followed her best friend up the stairs and to the end of the math hallway, Seulgi opened the door to the rooftop and stared silently at the girl who was sitting there. It's been minutes, and still Seulgi was in the same position, looking at the black-haired girl. Joy grew impatient, nothing was changing and the same questions were running through her head. Why was Seulgi staring at 'creep' Wendy? Why was she smiling? Why did she seem so happy?

          Wendy finish the final chapter in 'Great Expectations', she closed the book triumphantly and got up, upon raising she saw the girl she has been avoiding for the past week and a half. Of course, Seulgi barely noticed that Wendy was avoiding her, because to Seulgi it just seemed Wendy was acting like her usual self. Wendy's eyes widened, but quickly diverted the floor. She turned around quickly and walked toward the edge of the building's roof. 

          Seulgi was confused by the girl's actions, while Joy still watched from afar, hiding behind a wall. "Wendy, where are you going?" Seulgi quickly followed the younger, Wendy took a seat on the ledge that was put there for safety. She stared down at the ground, not sure what to do or say and it was the same with her counterpart. "Talk to me." Seulgi grinned and cocked an eyebrow at the girl, Wendy couldn't help but glance at Seulgi's face. She couldn't help but notice the way her monolided eyes drooped slightly at the ends, or the way her smile radiated in any light, or the way she looked like a little baby bear. Though, she couldn't admit that this was all quite 'cute' to her, she thought it in the back of her mind ever since the day she got an actual look at Seulgi's face. 

          Wendy looked away, and Seulgi frowned, though still persistant. "You don't have to hide from me, Wendy." Seulgi put her hand square on top of Wendy's. Wendy's heart clenched, she wanted to yank her hand away but she couldn't and she didn't know why. "S-Seulgi, please l-leave.." Wendy stuttered out nervously, Seulgi didn't leave mostly because she didn't want to and partly because she didn't believe that Wendy really wanted her to. "I said, you don't have to hide. Stop letting me intimidate you." Intimidated, Wendy wasn't. It was more like terrified. Terrified because for once in her life, she felt like she didn't hate someone; terrified because that person was Kang Seulgi. 

          She couldn't ever understand Seulgi, though she made minimal efforts to. One of the things that came with Seulgi constantly, for lack of a better word, stalking Wendy was bewilderness within Wendy. "I-I don't have to hide, but y-you don't have to constantly have an eye w-watching me." Seulgi sighed out hearing Wendy's statement, she took her hand off of Wendy's smaller one. It was weird, as Seulgi did so, Wendy felt a stange absence and emptiness. She almost wanted Seulgi's hand back on her's, caressing and warming it. 

          "I just want to make sure you're fine and safe, and happy?" Seulgi said her last words like a question, she didn't mean to but they came out that way. "There is nothing you can do to make me happy, Seulgi. At least nothing possible." Wendy's stuttering had calmed, she threw a bittersweet glare at the sky like something or someone could jump out of it and actually sterilize her pains. "But I'm still gonna try." All Wendy could ask was why, why, and why. And all Seulgi could reply was a simple 'because'. She didn't even shrug her shoulders, it was like her lack of reply was not because she didn't have an answer but because she couldn't say it out loud. 

          "Let me help you?" Seulgi eye brows furrowed, she looked helpless against Wendy's coldness. Wendy quickly got up and exited the cold rooftop, she headed toward her locker with thoughts of Seulgi entangled and surrounding her brain. Again, she left Seulgi's cry for aid unanswered to the brunette's disapointment. Seulgi wanted to scream her head off, it was frustrating when you feel like you need something so bad and there was absolutely no way you could get it. It drove her crazy that the world wasn't in her control at this point. 

          Seulgi left just seconds before the bells signaling lunch ending rang, Joy was out there waiting for her. Seulgi rushed out from the rooftop, quick to head to sociology, a class she shared with Wendy. Joy ran after Seulgi, getting out from her hiding place behind the wall. 

          "Seulgi?" Seulgi's eyes went big, there was no other staircase leading to that corner where Joy was. Seulgi knew that Joy was watching the whole affair happen, or at least part of it. Joy called for Seulgi, but Seulgi continue fast walking and ignoring her, afriad of the questions Joy had in store. Joy picked up her pace and caught up with her bestfriend, she grabbed Seulgi's wrist. "Is this why you've been leaving me at lunch" Seulgi snatched her arm away and tried to escape Joy's chase. 

          "I am not entitled to spend every lunch with you." Joy rolled her eyes even though she was behind Seulgi and she knew Seulgi couldn't see her visualized annoyance. "I never implied it was your obligation, Seul. It's just that we've kind of had every lunch for the past like million years so I expect you to be with me. For you to leave so often, all of the sudden..." Joy's tone was saddened and Seulgi felt bad for doing this, but recently Joy hasn't been exactly a 'joy' to be around, according to Seulgi. 'It's that Irene girl...' as Seulgi likes to say. 

          Seulgi hated that Joy allowed the infactuation she had with Irene to change her personality. Joy was like her name suggests, joyful. However, since Irene came along, she's been bullying, fake, and frustrating to deal with. Seulgi loved Joy with everything ounce of herself but she was just so irritated. 

          "I'm sorry, okay? I'm just stressed and tired and I can't take another second dealing with it." They reached sociology and they took their usual seats beside eachother, Seulgi notice Wendy wasn't in her seat yet. "What is it? What can't you deal with? Me?" Joy was hurt and she had every right to be, her bestfriend for years was just being distant, lightyears further than usual on a mental and emotional state. Seulgi let out a huge sigh, she had so much to say to Joy but she just couldn't say it. Saying everything would just cost so much stress and energy that Seulgi just didn't have.

          "No! Just stop asking me so many questions, okay? Go bother Irene or something, I don't have the time or energy to argue with you." Seulgi bursted at Joy, it wasn't easy to tell your friend or anyone to shut up. "I'm just asking because I'm concerned that I am losing you, losing this friendship. It's amazing that you don't understand that, Seul, and you think this is an argument? I'm trying to help you, Seulgi. Don't bring up Irene, would you? She's not relevant to this."

          Wendy walked into class and took her seat behind Seulgi, Joy's shouts turned to whispers. "She's the one you should be telling me about Seulgi, not Irene. What's your deal with her?" Joy could just feel Seulgi getting angry, she always got angry nowadays whenever Joy had anything to say about Wendy. Seulgi had all the rights to be mad though, Joy just assumed way too much of Wendy like the rest of the school did. Even if Seulgi didn't know anything about Wendy, she made an effort to understand her and not judge her like the rest. 

          Seulgi was about to start when Joy started again. "And before you yell at me, I'm asking you seriously this time; not because I want to say something negative about her. I want to know why you care about her so much for the first time in the 12 years that you've known her." Before Seulgi could answer Joy's whisper, Mrs. Park walked in and started teaching. 

          Wendy heard Joy's last question and cursed that Seulgi didn't answer it, as she desired the answer just as much as, if not more than Joy.

Hi, hope you guys enjoyed chapter 3. I'm so not used to Joy being a jerk and Wendy being so cold so writing this story kind of hurts my heart :[ Haha, I still enjoy writing it nonetheless. 

School is so annoying.. I have 4/5 of my exams this semester, whhhhhhy?!?! T_T
