Part 10

Secret To Happiness

Seulgi counted down to the very last second of Sociology. Still holding on to Wendy's backpack, still thinking about that diary entry. It ripped Seulgi apart, the fact that she caused Wendy so much pain.

It would be selfish for Seulgi to keep persuing Wendy, but it seemed to be emotionally impossible to walk away from something so special. Wendy was so, so special.

Seulgi thought about what Joy said, "Class ends in 10 minutes. You can either skip physics and go try to find her, or go to class and let her know that you've let go".

The class bell rang and Joy gathered her stuff and stood in front of Seulgi. "Seul.. The choice is yours." Joy said with a wink and left to Mr. Son's physics class, something that was definitely not on Seulgi's agenda for the next hour.

Seulgi scoured around the halls. "Where could Seungwan be..." Seulgi hummed, she hoped that she wouldn't be caught walking around by some teacher walking around as well.

The first place that came to mind was the music room. As Seulgi walked toward the music room, she couldn't help but find it funny that she was always looking for Wendy. This was definitely not the first time. And man, every time, Seulgi's searches ended with tragedy. Flashbacks of finding Wendy beaten up and saying 'good bye' to Wendy in the music room flooded Seulgi's mind

As Seulgi neared room 141, she noticed a melodic piano growing heavier and closer. It was an empty tune, with close to no personal touches, there was no emotions nestled in the notes. Seulgi reached the door and peered in the window to see a young female teacher playing the piano with some students watching, she was teaching a class.

Seulgi didn't have to look to check if it was Wendy anyway, she confirmed it wasn't Wendy when she heard the tune. Wendy's playing was 10 times better than the music teacher, melodic and moving.

Seulgi exhaled deeply and continued her search, she thought that she should probably fasten her pace if she wanted to catch Wendy before she left, or maybe she already left. Who knows?

Seulgi strode towards the study hall, where the library was located. "She should be here, I think..." Seulgi thought as she pulled the door open. Seulgi listened as the air conditioner was the only sound in the whole room. She could finally understand why Wendy actually liked this place, when it wasn't too full. It was serene and calming, somewhere where your only companions were made of ink and paper. Books never spoke, synonymous to being good at listening.

Seulgi took a look at the computer desks, and the study desks- nobody. She listened quietly for rustles or movements- nothing. "Eureka." Seulgi snapped as she ran to the teen fiction section, an array of tall shelves.

"Dickens..." Seulgi searched for the author of Wendy's absolute favourite book. "Aha!" Seulgi whispered and peered in between the shelfs where the book would be found. To Seulgi's dissapointment, there was nobody. "What's the use of being smart when you can't even find the person you love?" Seulgi laughed at herself bitterly and she exited the library.

"Wendy..." Seulgi whined, pulling her phone out of her pocket and looking at secret pictures she snapped when Wendy wasn't looking. She was always the most beautiful when she didn't try to be. Seulgi found herself smiling subconciously, and sighing out. "Why does love have to hurt so damn much?" Or was it just her love that hurt so much. Was the rest of the world suffering just as she was?

Seulgi took a deep breath and hoped hard as her hand fell on the knob or the door leading directly to the rooftop. This was her last hope. She swung open the door and almost as if god was answering her prayers, she spotted a small girl sitting on the wide ledge of the building- head to her knees, knees to her chest.

Seulgi walked quietly, not wanting to scare Wendy. Even though the ledge was wide and there was probably no chance of Wendy diving down to the concrete, Seulgi didn't want to jump scare the girl. As she walked closer, she realized that Wendy was singing to herself.

God, Wendy's voice was silk to Seulgi's ears. Seulgi stopped in front of the oblivious Wendy and stayed quiet. She didn't speak partly because she wanted to listen to Wendy's unbelivable voice but mostly because she was scared.

She barely knew what to say. Of course, Seulgi would hand Wendy her belongings, but then what? There was a decision to be made; was it time Seulgi let Wendy go or should she take a chance and try to convince that this love is right?

 --

Clear blue water, high tide came and brought you in
And I could go on and on, on and on, and I will
Skies grew darker, currents swept you out again
And you were just gone and gone, gone and gone

Been losing grip,
Oh, sinking ships
You showed up just in time

This love is good, this love is bad
This love is alive back from the dead
These hands had to let it go free
And this love came back to me

--

It wasn't an orignal song like the one sang just a couple weeks prior, but every word sang still meant so much. Seulgi's thoughts were interrupted by sobbing.

"Seulgi-yah..." Wendy whined, the name tangled through her weeps. Wendy continued to say a bunch of stuff that was indistinguishable, just a whole bunch of mumbles that compiled into an emotional cry and Seulgi somehow interpreted coherently.

"I need you.."  Wendy finally sighed at the end of her cries, whimpering into her knees, more quiet than before but nonetheless still as hard. Seulgi couldn't help but have tears running down her own face. It hurt so much seeing someone she cared for so much crying because of her.

"I'm right here, Seungwan." Seulgi whispered to Wendy as she sat down beside the girl and put an arm around her firmly. She felt the younger jump in her arms, put didn't allow her to pull away, or run away for that matter.

Wendy looked over to Seulgi, wide-eyed and scared. "Seul..." The words slipped her lips. Seulgi's heart relaxed a bit, relieved to hear the nickname after who knows how long.

"Please don't go, don't leave." Seulgi looked straight into Wendy's eyes, peering deep into them. Wendy's head fell into Seulgi's neck and chest, Seulgi could feel Wendy's tears soaking her clothes, but she didn't give a single . All that matter to her at that moment was that Wendy was in her arms once again.

It's not like Seulgi even needed to ask Wendy not to leave anyways, because Wendy needed Seulgi just as much as Seulgi needed Wendy at that moment.

Seulgi continued to comfort the younger, her hair and back. She never felt this close to Wendy before. Seulgi knew that she didn't have to say anything all she needed was to hug the younger girl because a hug was all Wendy needed at the end of the day. Seulgi was surprised when Wendy broke the silence.

"I thought I could do this without you, that I could go on and live without you. But I just, can't." Wendy's face was still hidden into Seulgi's chest, her head felt the vibrations of Seulgi's heartbeat. "I'm so scared without you, Seulgi." Wendy's grip on Seulgi became tighter with her confession, almost as if she was scared that Seulgi would somehow lose contact with her.

"I'm sorry." Wendy finally peered up, her eyes meeting Seulgi's almost immediately. Seulgi's hands came up to wipe away Wendy's tears by instinct. "W-Why are you sorry to me? I'm the one that should be apologizing, Seul.. Look at all the pain I caused you."

Seulgi shook her head, pulling Wendy into her arms once again. This time, she put her arm around Wendy, carressing the younger's shoulder. Wendy's head lay on Seulgi's shoulder.

"Yes, you hurt me tremendously, but nothing compares to what I've done to you." Seulgi sighed feeling a bit hesitant to confess how she obtained what she was about to apologize for. "I know that it was wrong of me, and it was a complete invasion of privacy, but I read your diary- just the last entry though!"

Wendy's breath hitched for a second, but she caught it. It wouldn't matter what Seulgi read in there anyways, because Wendy would've told Seulgi one day anyway.

"It's okay, go on." Wendy spoke and wrapped her arm around Seulgi's waist. Seulgi looked at Wendy for a second to confirm if it was really 'okay' like Wendy said. Wendy's eyes assured it.

"Well, I didn't know that becoming friends with me was causing you all this anger toward yourself. I just want you to know that you shouldn't feel that way because you are an amazing person, more amazing than anybody else on this Earth times infinity. So stop demoting yourself because you're beautiful." Wendy hugged Seulgi firmer, this was something that she needed to hear.

"And don't you dare think that you're not worthy of being with me, because in actuality, I don't deserve to be with you. This love isn't toxic, if you don't let it be." Seulgi looked down to Wendy, smling, and the younger did the same.

"I love you." Wendy simply stated, her eyes locked on Seulgi's, pupils dialated. The wait time between her statement and Seulgi's answer was the longest Wendy waited for anything before. It finally hit Wendy, she actually said it. And now she was scared because she had no idea what Seulgi was going to say. Scared would be an understatement, it was more like terrified.

But we all know what Seulgi was due to say.

"I love you too, Seungwan." Seulgi returned as she took the initiative to lean in and kiss Wendy straight on the lips.

TBC

Yay! I'm so excited that Wenseul/Seuldy/Wengi is finally a thing in this fic :]] It's been a long 10 chapters and it's not over yet so stay tuned!

I had a bit of trouble thinking of an ending to this chapter, specifically the last three paragraphs. This was due the reason that I couldn't decide who would say "I love you" first xP I know I'm ridiculous. Well I was just thinking, if Seulgi said it first, I could leave it at a cliffhanger (a very obvious one anyways). But it's so much more adorable to have Wendy say it first, since she's been the cold one thus far.

And that song Wendy was singing in the middle of the chapter, it was 'This Love' by Taylor Swift. I know some people are super turned off by Taylor Swift but I felt that this song represented this relationship in this fanfic really well. You can't really find this song online b/c of Taylor Swift's company's policies or whatever (rolls eyes) but if you know someone who owns the album, you should really check out the song (and the whole album while you're at it). The 1989 album is just amazing. And I always find that soundtracks always set the scene for stories/books/video games/etc. Anywaaays, back to the story.

I really want to thank you guys for the great feedback and keep up with the comments :D

And also, nowadays I have much more time to write to if you guys have any Red Velvet/Apink/and maybe even SNSD Taeny requests I'd be happy to try to do your great ideas justice :)

And another note! Are you guys enjoying Ice Cream Cake as much as I am??? God, I love that song and MV. My favourite song on the album is actually Automatic though. I ordered my album from Kpoptown and it's currently coming in mail and I am unpatiently waiting ;A; I'm hoping to get a Seulgi photocard but I really don't mind getting anybody. Little Yeri has grown on me so much since she's joined <3 What do you guys think about the new member? I know a lot of people think negatively about her but once you get pass the "I LIKE RV JUST THE WAY IT IS" and the "WTF SMENT!!" and you actually get to know her, you'll love her.

And how about Red Velvet's first and second music show wins at Music Bank and Inkigayo? :DD I'm such a proud fan. Poor Joy wanted to say something during the Inkigayo winning speech but she got interupted by the MC and at the first win I could tell she wanted to talk but she was crying too much. Poor baby :(( Haha. and rmb how they totally got robbed of the award at mcountdown T_T

It's been a long Author's note for a long month that I haven't updated but I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! Until next time, bye :]
